  • ^^^ was about to post the above.

Also, there is a second Half Price Books location in Louisville.
  • TCB Games in Huntington, IN. Great place, I just started buying there. Fair prices, they go right off of Price Charting. You are going to find any great deals, but you wont get ripped off either.
  • There's a new store in Pataskala OH that opened last year and they have great prices on retro stuff and offer good trade in value. And they just opened a new store in Johnstown, OH as well.
  • I just took a trip down to Detroit this weekend and was looking forward to my visit at their Gameheadz location. Was NOT impressed by the lack of cleanliness in the store, the lack of deals for bundles or the fact it was right in the middle of the damn ghetto. Seriously felt uncomfortable shopping there and would never recommend it. And even after getting home after peeling back one of their price stickers I came to find a name literally carved right into my copy of The Adventures of Lolo. But there is a silver lining... If you're in the area we found an incredible store not on this list called 2nd and Charles. It's in Auburn Hills and the deals we got were amazing.

The other owners of original Timewarp relaunched as "Back to the Media" in same spot in Williamsport and are still there. www.facebook.com/b2mediamd

Really bummed about this. I got so many great deals there! I don't want to think about being stuck down there with HPB, Pops, and...ugh...Game King.

Game King is the worst. I have occasionally found filler titles I need for somewhat reasonable prices at POPs, and the owner is pretty cool. I never found too many great deals at that Disc Replay though. As far as Half Price Books goes, I will say that the Lexington stores have generally had better stuff than the Louisville locations on my trips to Lex. The prices were roughly retail though.

  • When I was living down there full time, Disc Replay had some great deals, but they were usually on PS2/GC/Xbox games and not so much on NES or SNES. I think their prices for those systems were based on Gamestop's because I picked up Fire Emblem GC and Skies of Arcadia for $17. Same with $2.99 Kuon and MS Saga. Even stuff like a CIB Word Safari. I know they get a ton of resellers so you might have just hit them when they were cleaned out. It used to be on my way home so I'd stop by almost every day. Last time I was down there the more popular games were marked up to normal but I found a 99¢ NCAA Basketball for the GC. Really gonna miss that place.

I never really found deals at Disc Replay on games, the best I could find was semi-uncommon stuff at slightly below ebay price, like Turrican on Genesis CIB for $16. They once had Mega Man 7 and Mega Man X3 for $175 each, I can't imagine they sold them. I always wonder what happened to them or if they just ship them off to another store? One time they got a TG16 with the CD attatchment and tried to sell them both separately for the price they should cost together as one unit.

It sucked because I thought maybe they would have some huge 50% off sale or something, they told me they were gonna have a bunch of "huge sales", but all they had was "buy 3 get one free on items 9.99 and under". They were boxing up all the DVDs and games too, I am guessing to send to a different store.

Movies on the other hand, that place was a gold mine. I can't even tell you how many Blu-Ray box sets I got for insane prices like $4.99 for the complete Rocky set, or $3.99 for a rare out of print horror movie that sells for $80+ on ebay, $2.99 for Expendables 3 bluray the same week it came out in retail stores, virtually every WWF DVD $2, etc. They had a weird pricing system that severely underpriced movies.

That whole area is pretty much dead for vintage games now, especially after The Playroom closed. That place sucked when they started doing the change the price at the register shit, but it was at least nice to have a place where you could go and be almost guaranteed to find any common game you might want. HPB is ridiculous, games last all of 5 seconds in that store, if they ever get any at all. But maybe now since they are the only store in town, they will start getting more stuff in since there is no one else to sell games to.
  • Yeah. They told me they were having sales, but that they wouldn't be much to write home about. Apparently that's because they were shipping everything to Indy to blend with another location into a "super store." I don't have any experience with the Play Roim, as I haven't been in Kentucky that long, but yeah....Lexington is pretty bad overall for retro games. I went to Game King one time. Walked in, saw that NES Batman was 25.00, laughed and left.
  • Found one more in Florida

  • Hate to say it but if you're in Appalachia you're pretty much screwed as far as getting retro games goes. Gaming didn't catch on there until about 2000. I lived there for 6 years and my mother's side of the family is from there. The only place I ever found anything was in Portsmouth OH and that was in the early-mid 2000s.
  • You may be right to a degree. However, on my travels to various Courts in the state, I usually make little pitstops in pawn shops in the area and whatnot. I hit a treasure trove at a pawn shop in an out-of-the-way mountain/coal mining town not too long ago. Roughly 500 different games in one location. This is obviously the exception and not the rule, but it goes to show that there are places in the area where you can find a gem or two if you look hard enough.
  • That's the way to do it down there -- find a way to hit a lot of those smaller towns. When I was in my early to mid 20s, I had time to duck into all of those pawn shops and little independent resale stores in small-town downtowns. Now I can't do that any more.
  • Game Nation is Yakima, Washington has closed - it can be scratched off the list.

Sorry I totally didn't realize I never said the name. Both stores are called Forever Games
  • It is already on the list, but I saw some people talking about Massachusetts game stores overcharging which in many cases I agree with (one in particular that has great stuff all the time but for sometimes double eBay prices) so figured I would post The One Stop Shop in Clinton MA is my store. 99% of prices are based off of Pricecharting. May not always have the rarest stuff all the time as when it comes in it normally goes fast, but you can always ask as there is normally tons of stuff that has yet to go out.

  • Me and my wife recently opened Steel Collectibles, which is a retro video game / comics / collectible toys store in Kennesaw, Georgia 30144.

    Our website is:  FaceBook.com/SteelCollectibles

It would be awesome if we could be added to the retro video game store list for Georgia. Thanks!

  • Got 3 more stores in the Long Island, NY area, two of which I thought were already on the list, but aren't. Well now here they are:

    - Play N Trade - Bay Shore, NY (Sunrise Highway)

    - Play N Trade - Deer Park, NY (Deer Park Ave)

    - GameHut - Babylon, NY (Deer Park Ave)

The two PNTs have pretty slim selections and the prices are no bargain either. I haven't bought anything from either store in months. Disappointment with each visit but I thought I'd mention them anyway.

I just found out about GameHut today and I was excited because retro game stores are far and few within driving distance where I live. I was impressed by the selection they had immediately after walking in...then I saw the prices. The prices on every game outside of the bargain bin are OUTRAGEOUS. Seriously, $60 for Mega Man X, $100 for Lufia 2, $250 for EarthBound, $80 for Mega Man 6... Keep in mind these are cartridges only. I will not be going back but I thought I'd mention it just in case you live over there and are curious. I get that these are expensive games I'm listing but I can find each of those at least 25% cheaper online. And now I know why I do 99% of my game shopping on eBay.
  • You can take Nana G's Antique Treasures in arizona off the list as it has now closed it's doors

  • Borderland games in texarkana tx closed
  • Nobody seemed to add Level Up Games in Whitewater, WI. to the list yet.. Not sure why. It's been around for 7 or so years and has pretty badass prices!
  • I'm surprised this one isn't on the list, it's a few years old. Robot City Arcade, Clinton St. Binghamton, NY https://www.facebook.com/Robotcitygames?fref=ts

They have a decent lot of games for every big console since atari. The NES collection they have is excellent and decent prices if you buy in multiples of 4. A solid selection of uncommon games for NES/SNES. Casino Kid 2 for $40-50, a nice copy of isolated warrior for 15, all the mega mans cib for much less than ebay, little ninja bros CIB. The SNES rares are closer to ebay prices though, but if you're looking for dozens of commons you can really load up here. Plus they have some really great pinball and arcade machines to play.
