A find in the most unexpected place...

I went antiquing of all things with my girlfriend after work today.  We were looking for various art or other wall decorations to fill the bare walls in our new house.  We didn't find anything we both liked, but I did find these games.  I was shocked because I never thought to look in an antique store for anything gaming related.  I thought in the back of my mind that if I did find anything, it would be shockingly overpriced.  They were $15 a piece, which while not a great score, certainly is a reasonable find.  Especially considering how new they look.  I'd swear they were all brand new, just out of their cellophane.  It was quite the experience.

  • That life force is wicked....great score!
  • That's quite a bit but they do look pretty minty. Ive gone through my cities antique district without finding anything. It was a major bummer and waste of time. Nice pickup though.
  • I have found many a good gameing things i'm antique stores. You have to think that for an item to be considered in antique it must be at least 25-30 years old. Guess what, alot of what we collect are consider antiques. I have found plenty over the years, actually some of my best finds in antique stores. I guess I can thank my parents who are antique collectors.
  • Great finds! I've found antique places to be an interesting place to look through, and every once in a while I do come across something game related that isn't all that expensive. My Miracle Piano I picked up at an antique shop, so they aren't all that bad.
  • Really great finds you got there!
  • You might have paid a bit more than a few of these are worth, but for the condition I'd say it was still a great find.
  • $15 a piece? Ouch. I was hoping for $15 for the lot. Still, all good games, and in great shape.
  • Antique stores have some good gaming stuff (sometimes.) but the best thing i found was ultima exodus cib for $2
  • hmm i need to scavenge my antique stores..and see if i can find any. great finds!
  • Pffft, all they have at my local antique store is antiques. Employees included.

They're common games but five of the seven are highly playable. Not bad at all.
  • I remember going into a antique store looking for games. I asked the owner of the shop if he had an older video games.

His response was, "This isn't a toy store."

Which was actually pretty funny because he had older (1990s) Barbie Dolls for sale in the windows.

I ignored his smug response and went on the explain to the rude old man, that some video games are quite valuable. And that it would be in his best interest to keep an eye out for them.

Here's hoping that his store burns down. (j/k ... kinda)
  • WOW 15 each, yea i was hoping for 15 for all too. But im cheap lol. That seller who had the booth was probably thrilled that he sold all them for that much. I would love to sell my NES cib's of these games to someone for $15 each outside of Ebay with no fees involved.
