ok where does everyone stand

I mentioned before I think this site definitley has the most hardcore nes collectors of any place on the net Ive been to. So if any place to ask this question it would be here.

Does anyone actually have a complete US nes collection..as in all the released carts cart, box and manual..

Im working at it but still not there yet.

  • i would agree. this is definately my favorite nes site.

i still have a ways to go. i have just over 500 games and about 3/4 are cib.
  • I wish that I did but I'm still roughly 450 games off from a complete collection. I have other interests that take away focus on the NES and I had to sell some of my NES commons a few times before. Nearly all of my remaining games are boxed/complete and at least uncommon though.
  • Once again, I think it bears repeating that you must define what you mean by "complete". It seems, especially here, that no two people agree. What does and doesn't count? Sachens? Test carts? Racermate? Screw variants? Seal variants? Major label variants only? NWC? (and if so do you need to have both gold and gray?) I could probably go on forever, but I think you the idea.
  • I have an almost complete loose collection. Nothing compared to a lot of you others, but I'm proud image Only game I don't have that I really want to is SE. I don't see that anywhere in the near future though (if ever image)
  • I have a full loose collection, all Sachen, all but 2 test carts, all unlicensed games as well. I about 200 boxes from all the boxes, and about that many manuals as well. I have most the major varaints, but am just starting on screws and seals.

I consider all the carts listed that you could buy in the US at your local store to be a complete collection. If joe average guy couldnt go to his local store and bring the cart home it doesnt count. If you include every thing else that includes every cart pirate, variant, homebrew, made up etc etc it would be in the tens of thousand.

  • I'd say I'm on the "home stretch" being that I only need around 20-something boxes and around 15 manuals for my licensed set, and around 10 boxes and 10 manuals for my unlicensed set. Of course that's not including variations, etc, but for a set of games you could go and buy at the store. I should have already been done with the NTSC set, but there were several stretches of time where my attention was on PAL, accessories, and other NES areas, with the rationale that I can finish the NTSC part more easily than some of the other areas. Recently, I've been devoting my energy to finishing up the loose ends so I can work on some of the variation sets I'm still lacking.

  • I collect it all as do alot of others on here. But if you want to talk about just the licensed and unlicensed NTSC games INCLUDING all the variations (even those on Color Dreams, Bunch, and W Tree) (Not counting 3 vs 5 screw stuff) I need 19 boxes, 17 carts, 9 books, and 2 dust sleeves. If you only count NTSC licensed and unlicensed with just 1 copy of every known game I only need: 10 boxes, 7 carts, 7 books, and 2 dust sleeves.

DAIN, getting very close on the 3 vs 5 screw stuff too, just marked off 4 more Hang Tab boxes yesterday that I didn't have so that was a good day.
  • I have a near complete NES "complete" NES collection. I personally dont count variations. I also have a complete "new" "US" sachen collection. I havent checked in a while, but I think I need 5 boxes and another 5 manuals and 3 games. about half of the NES collection is brand new, factory sealed.

The thing about collecting is that what do you do once you get everything? Personally, I dont really bother with variations (although I do have both a US and a CAN big box gyromite and a few other variations and then a bunch of the mail order stuff like the DW games maps and the faria map etc). So its now either upgrade in condition or well, nothing.

I always wanted a complete in box minty computrainer bundle. I managed to get one of those and now I'm not sure what to collect.
I guess I will go after peripherals next. I have a pretty nice truly NEW NES system collection. have six different variations all new.
  • Well I confess then that my collection is the smallest one. I got far over a 600 games left. My priority lies to original games so all these unlicensed and pirate games will I probably buy first when the original collection is done. The games must also be complete with box and manual and if included, maps.

I dont say that sachen and tengen games sucks but they bugs me on the point that they were not licensed

Luckily its not a dick contest image although some guys tend to think that. Doesn't matter whose is bigger man, just enjoy what you have! Collections are to make you happy, not to impress other people.

    cheers

  • Hi guys

    First post here!

Actually, i had around 500 boxed games but i had image sell most of it.

I still have around 130 boxed/complete games including some PAL exclusive, Cheetahmen 2, big box Gyromite and so on.

That's the golden question, but even if you don't collect variations, there are still a few games (non-US) that pose a serious problem for collectors to obtain to have a 'complete' collection. When I say complete, I mean at least 1 of every released game, across all regions. This means Rodland, Mr. Gimmick, Banana Prince, etc...

The one game that I see at the biggest hurdle is Mah-Jong, only released in Hong Kong. It was a licensed release and only recently discovered. I feel very lucky that I'm the owner of it!

All that said, I've never meet anyone who has a complete NES collection, even on the most basic level (1 of each). In fact, I don't know anyone who even has a complete NTSC, licensed set. I'm sure there are 1 or 2 people who do, but they haven't come around these parts (yet!) image

  • thanks Dain

Hehe! Well isn't for sale/trade anyway image
  • Well if it was in a bit better shape certain people might make you an offer you would have a hard time refusing (cough cough me) image

  • I figured I might as well post in here too.
I've currently got all of the carts (both unlicensed and licensed, not including Sachens) and I'm tracking down all of the boxes, of which I need about 200 more. I never really got into manuals, nor do I think I ever will, so I don't even know how many of those I need.
  • Update on I collect it all... on the licensed and unlicensed NTSC games INCLUDING all the variations (even those on Color Dreams, Bunch, and W Tree) (Not counting 3 vs 5 screw stuff) I'm down to: 10 boxes, 14 carts, 5 books. If you only count NTSC licensed and unlicensed with just 1 copy of every known game I only need: 5 boxes, 5 carts, 4 books.
  • Im down to 5 NES Games i need for a Complete US collection cart set. Thats including licensed and unlicensed. i still need> Bubble Bath Babes, Myriad, Peek a Boo Poker, Cheetahmen 2, and Ultimate Air Combat (yea go figure lol) As for completes i have most of the rare games cib including bb2, F2, caltron,. hot slots, bonk, little samson, tengen tetris, challenge of dragon, dk math, sqoon and so on. Also have lots of other cool items like a NES test staion, one test cart, and lots of service center signs. I still needs lots of boxes and manuals but not too many real rare ones, except SE lol.
  • im at about 710ish games in my collection, but i only have about 120 boxes, so i still have a long way to go with that, i just don't know if i could see myself buying all the big ticket items, not at this point anyways, i guess i'll just see how much i want it when i get near the end.
  • well im still where i was when this post was made....although i have since got a complete n64 collection 10 boxes and 6 manuals to be totally complete and am off to a good start on my snes......
  • Kinda like a time capsule... interesting to see that I now only need 2 boxes and 2 books to have it all.
  • it is kinda cool, i made the last post in this thread a week after i joined. I've added about 200 boxes since then and am down to 15 games for the set. It'll be cool to look back at this post in another 6 months and see where i'm at then.
  • Wow, you guys are awsome, I only just broke 100 games this week.

Ideally I'd like to get all of the licenced US releases CIB. Maybe unlicenced too.

There a few though that appear to be so rare I doubt I'll ever even see one nevermind own one.

It's good to be part of this group for someone at my stage. Lots of quality CIB games availble here. And so far, everyone's be super cool.
  • I think the idea of myself collecting a full US set is beyond my reach. However I am fully motivated to collect a full cart only set of PAL-A releases, I will acheive this. I also want to collect PAL releases cart only for SNES & N64 and I will fully concentrate more on them in about a year or so's time when money becomes more plentiful and hopefully I've done the master system, virtual boy & 64DD.
In the mean time I think I'll just pick up the cheap carts I can find and the rare carts I can find cheap on the bay.
  • I gave up going for every cart years ago. If I happen to see something I like for a good price I'll buy it. Otherwise I'd have half of what I do. I might be missing a few carts but I have doubles and triples of others. I guess I could trade my doubles to complete the set but I don't need every cart. I enjoy what I have.
  • I'm at 650ish on carts with about 200 manuals and 75 boxes. I would be even closer if it wasn't for all the other damn video games stuff I buy when I'm out hunting.

Anyone else have a Ninja Gaiden 3 proMo cart? lol I know there a few others out there. Guess thats my prize game.

I'm sure collecting hasn't hit it's peak yet. I think I have started, either directly or indirectly, four or five of my friends collecting. Which is cool, but I wish they didn't live in my hunting zone!

Are you talking about the one with the black and white label on a regular-like paper? I have one like that, bought from our own DreamTR. My prizes would be...well...the NTSC SE I have (which, coincidentally, DreamTR sold me) and the blue-back Caltron I own.

As for where my collection is, the US NTSC part of it stands at just a shade over 500 games, with about 25 variants, 4 pirates, 3-4 protos, 4-5 repros, a few homebrews, and about 15-16 PAL games. I also have about ~130 US boxes and about 100 US manuals, while all but two of my PAL games are complete (needing box and map for Zelda -ESP, and needing box for A Boy and His Blob -GBR). I also have one loose PAL box (Pirates! -NOE/FRG).

Yep that be the one. Was a impulse buy a year ago on the bay. Were you the guy who just bought one on ebay a month or two ago? Thats the only other time I've seen it on there. Think we paid almost the same price.
