Double Posters

Can we add a feature that if you post in a thread where you're the last poster in the last 24 hours, it automatically merges your last 2 posts in that thread? It's kind of annoying seeing so many people post within 5 minutes of their last post, when clearly they're just too lazy to hit edit or to build up their post count. Yes, I'm guilty of it every so often, but not nearly as bad as a lot of people...

  • I usually only do it when I would otherwise be multi-quoting, since proper multiquotes are a pain in the ass, and generally not worth the trouble.

But a merge feature that made multiquoting faster and worthwhile, would be pretty cool.
  • What happens to people who bump their thread right at the 24 hour mark without any posts inbetween?

Not a fan of the idea personally.

Then it would count as another post. I made the 24 hour suggestion because of 1 bump a day rule in the BST forum. I've seen threads where people post 3+ times in less than 10 minutes. I know on a lot of other forums, double/triple posting is a big no no, especially on  larger communities, because it causes more overhead on the database and slows down the forums.

Actually, I was just thinking about what you said jone, do you mean like if you make a new post, then you make a 2nd right after and it merges, that you'd have to wait another 24 hours? I meant from the original post creation, not merged/edited.
  • I don't see that big of a problem.
  • but then again.....
  • nope....still don't see it.
  • I vote this thread be deleted, and all thread count backout out to all involved.
  • ^Oops too many outs there
  • i see...
  • ...what you did there
  • Just make the time inbetween posts allowed more. Like 1 minute. That way accidentally double posting wouldn't happen as much by accident.
  • Well, if only multiquoting was fixed then it'd be better for me and I don't have to double post. Sometimes I have trouble quoting, then commenting on that quote, quoting someone else, and commenting on that, etc. all in a single post! And sometimes I have real bad bugs with the quote stuff all together (Like it would only show the quote and not my text!)
