Maybe some companies these days *DO* care about single customers...
Here's the story... I went down to McKay's (Chattanooga) about a week or so ago. I made probably one of my better finds in a while, especially for non-NES related stuff... I found a loose cart Fun 'n Games (Genesis; $2.95), complete and mint Fatal Frame (PS2, $28.95), and a nearly-complete and excellent Shin Megami Tensei: Digital Devil Saga box set (PS2, $29.95). Yes, nearly-complete on Digital Devil Saga: it was missing the soundtrack disc. So my first instinct is to make a post at Digital Press asking if anyone had one they'd sell... The only real response I got told me to try e-mailing Atlus.
So I e-mailed Atlus's customer service department (a rare occasion in and of itself), explaining a bit about me, that I'm a collector and a gamer, that I play RPGs, and have come to like some of the Atlus titles specifically. Then I told them of my find at McKay's, and that DDS was missing the soundtrack disc, and I asked him since they didn't have any in the store, if they had any at all in stock, and that I'd be willing to pay somewhat for them (though I never disclosed an actual figure...it would've only been around $5-$10 anyway).
The response came three days later (Monday, the 28th), a fellow by the name of Rob Stone replied, saying that they didn't have any for sale, but "I think I could dig one out of the warehouse for you. Reply with your mailing address and I'll see what I can do." I was halfway suspicious at first, since he didn't ask for any money, but I did e-mail him back that night and thanked him for his response, and gave him my address. Well...fast forward to today, and in my mail, a bubble envelope with an official Atlus address label on it, and inside was the Digital Devil Saga soundtrack disc, brand-new
. I couldn't believe what I saw...it truly amazed me. Goes to show that at least one of the big gaming companies really does care about the semi-average consumer

NGD, funny you mention, I worked one summer as a waiter at a swanky place and did a damn good job. Ever since, I find bad waiting COMPLETELY inexcusable. If the service is real bad I don't tip. It drives my wife crazy, but I mean, com'on--they're already getting minimum wage, if they want extra money from me they have to do more than bring me food and a bill. Carl's Jr. will do that.

Most servers don't make anywhere near minimum wage, at least not here. Servers make 2.13 per hour plus tips. But they have to tip share with hostess's and bus boys as well. If they have a silverware roller, they have to give him a cut as well.

Damn dude. Here in CA they make minimum wage unless the establishment provides living quarters, the food doesn't ding 'em.
