SNES PowerPak Game Genie Support

I recently picked up a SNES PowerPak from RetroUSB which works great except, for one thing, Game Genie codes will not work. I've tried codes from multiple sources and on multiple games and they just will not work. I held select and captured the log file and it looks like it's recognizing the codes but when I play the game they don't work. I've tried Donkey Kong Country, Super Mario All Stars with Super Mario World, all basic games with tons of codes. As I was writing this post it dawned on me. They're HiROM games. I then tried the original Super Mario World and it worked fine.

My question comes to has anyone gotten the SNES PowerPak's Game Genie support to work with HiROM games? If so, how? My only solution so far has to been to use a program called SNESAddresses which has a SNES ROM patching feature. I have contacted bunnyboy twice via email and received no reply. Any thoughts or help on this matter would be very welcome. Thanks!

  • Please note your emails were received, but they are not received by Bunnyboy directly, I cannot answer such a technical question and I have forwarded the emails to him and he is reviewing them.

    Thanks.

  • I've noticing that too, particularly with RPG's translations. Tried two ways, inserting the code manually and running a pre-patched rom with the codes, with no luck.

I have been looking for a program to patch game genie codes to the SNES.  Can you tell me where I can find the "SNESAddresses" program you are referring to?

  • Has anyone gotten game genie codes to work with Zelda: A Link to the Past? I try the invincible code for: AE6E-DF2A and the code works in the emulator but not on the PowerPak. Any suggestions, or does it just not work with that game?
  • @SNESMaster sorry it took me forever to get back to this thread but you can find the program at this site below:
    http://gamehacking.org/?s=downloads
     Under the name:
Snes File<->LoRom<->HiRom Convertor, SNES GG ROM Patcher .  I still haven't heard anything from RetroUSB about this issue so I'm hoping that they're working on it.
  • Yeah I've had the same issue since I've had my PowerPak. I know the codes I'm using work because I have a game genie and used the actual game with it. But when I try the same code on the PowerPak, no dice. Hopefully bunnyboy is working this issue as I type this...
