Well, I was watching a videotape earlier tonight after painting my VHS room purple, so here is what I have figured out: Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat beat Greg "The Hammer" Valentine, then showed me 3 Moments of Truth. I have no idea what he was talking about, but Mean Gene seemed rather unimpressed. I hope this helps!

    Great post , =)

    What happens next ?

I dunno. But I can tell you later on what happens in Wrestling's Country Boys. Because that tape is next on my shelf. Apparently, I do not organize them either alphabetically or by catalog number. I should have my head examined.

What about those tendo tape wrastlin' games?  You should give those a try.

I refuse. Why is Bam Bam Bigelow in the first WrestleMania game? That makes no sense to me. Somebody, please, fill me in.

When I bring them over to your place, it will be hard to refuse, haha.

Bam bam was wanted in the wwf after doing a very nice run in the WCCW

he was a great heel to be , and they even did a "The Battle Of Bam Bam"

all the heel managers wanted him soo bad , but he went Babyface on the world with Oliver H

he outlasted Hulk at Survivor Series and also took out many stars and only lost to Andre

he was on the card for WM5 and lost to One Man Gang in a count out , he had just came back from an injury (knee i think)

he was in JCP and New Japan at the time of the game

but im guessing he was a huge investment by vince and he was loved by the fans for many reasons

so im guessing he was still a property of WWF and he was a rather large guy and going back to SS when he lost

to Andre The Giant , the match up was pretty well done with the size of bam bam and remember he was a big guy doing high spots

so if you think about it , programming bam bam was great , his look and size against Andre the giant was really good

and being wwf property and a big hit with the fans from many territories

i think it was a good idea and the facts show he was in alot of headlining matches

I just found it odd that Bathroom Bam Bam (that's we call him in the industry, after the "incident") would be included in the WrestleMania game when he was not yet a part of WrassleMania, especially considering that Richard Steamboat was not in it, and he jumped over a dude a bunch of times. I saw it with my Magic Glasses.

You are missing a huge world buddy, there are tons of indies with immense talent, that's where most of wwe guys are from right now. Wrestling is in a high point right now and wwe has some of the best talent the buisness has ever seen. Japan style still exists, watch new japan pro wrestling. Lucha still exists, watch lucha underground or aaa. There is so much goin on right now in the world of wrestling, being a fan in today's world of wrestling is awsome

Bam Bam Bigelow did in fact wrestle at Wrestlemania 4, which at the time was the most recent Wrestlemania prior to the game's release. He was in the tournament for the championship that Randy Savage ultimately beat Ted Dibiase for.

It's Hogan vs Andre at Wrestlemania 3. You'd have to already be a wrestling fan to appreciate the truly great matches like Taker vs Shawn at Wrestlemania  25 or Savage vs Steamboat at Wrestlemania 3.

i think that no match defines the spectacle of professional wrestling better than Hogan vs Andre.

It depends on the person, I might show them something from lucha underground like the 7 way match if I wanna hold their attention, or if they are seriously interested in wrestling and wanna watch the current brand, I would show them maybe cena vs punk or Bryan vs cena

    Lana is SO fine.

My match would be pretty much anything Bret Hart vs Mr. Perfect. Summerslam '91 (I think) and/or their King of The Ring '93 match was amazing.

It's funny you mention this on in that context, it's one of the two matches that I watched that rekindled my interest in wrestling.

I'd have to do some thinking on this....

If they care about in-ring product/workrate, it would most definitely be something from Japan (all of last years NJPW G-1 Climax shows, would be a good start)

If they just want some american stuff, Savage/Steamboat from old school, probaby some NXT from over the past year.

WWE is not a good representation of professional wrestling anymore (Vince got it right when he dubbed it "Sports Entertainment") Until NXT came into it's own, you really had to look outside our borders to Japan (specifically NJPW) for true professional wrestling.

Good question. Agreed with Wesofthedead... it depends on the person.

I always think about Rey Mysterio vs. Eddie Guererro - Mask Vs. Title. Halloween Havoc....

That match is nuts.... and it feels/looks like Eddie is trying to tear Reys face off, and they beat the crap out of eachother.

If you're looking as an "oustider"... Eddie makes this match believeable.

No doubt that that's some awesome wrestling you've named.

And I agree, you can't introduce someone to wrestling using the "matches" on Monday Night Raw.... You could, but if we're talking about strictly in ring stuff currently I would start with WWE "PPV's" or "Network Specials". That way the pro wrestling newbie can get some full, uninterrupted, matches.

I would disagree that WWE isn't a good representation of professional wrestling anymore. It's just a different style. You can't work the same type of match in front of 10,000, 20,000, or even 76,000 people as you can a few thousand.

Also, to say "until NXT Came into it's own" is a misunderstood statement. Because NXT IS WWE... If anything, the NXT television show doesn't have the depth or experience of the WWE roster... I mean, they're the same thing, but for the NXT television show, there's some pretty green workers in some matches still.

It's also just a DIFFERENT company, so the wrestling is going to be different. It's no secret that WWE was the New York, north eastern territory. That was Vinces territory. The different territories had different styles. Some were were more action in the ring, some were more high flying, some were more storyline based.

To say that  you need to look outside of North America, and to Japan, for true professional wrestling is an false statement. The biggest thing in NJPW is The Bullet Club... The North American heel stable... Finn Balor invented the Bullet Club. Half the Bullet Club is guys that used to be in WWE, haha... Festus anybody?

Lucha Underground and ROH have been wrestling their asses off, and it's pretty evident to WWE (as the biggest international guys are now with WWE, and would want to work there) has been paying attention. As they too are trying to grow The Network Internationally.

Everyone says WWE is not professional wrestling anymore and blah, blah, blah... well, you should be smart enough to realize it's just a different style. If you don't like a slower, more methodical, more storyline based match and don't want the history and lineage of basically the entire North American Territory professional wrestling industry then don't watch WWE.

If you want to see guys beat the crap out of eachother, with a bunch of WWE style wrestling too haha, then watch NJPW.

There's TONS of different styles of pro wrestling to watch now. I'm literally watching Lucha Underground as I type this.... Johnny Mundo, North American Lucha style... WWE guy. But again, Lucha Underground is simply a different style.
  • Wrestling today is in such a strange new place. The internet has opened up the borders just like cable tv destroyed the territories' boundaries in the old days. I miss the competition between brands, as WWE really feels like it's gotten lazy and slow being alone at the top. The writing and action was top-notch during the Monday Night Wars, as they HAD to write and perform better or they'd lose their butts. Now, it just seems like any lazy storyline can get shoved out, and dropped with no conclusion.

I missed out on the "Ruthless Aggression" era, so I didn't see Raw and Smackdown when they were considered separate entities. But the old recaps and stories sound interesting. I kind of feel like WWE should do another brand split; there's so much good talent that can't get a moment of screen time because the same 5 guys or gals are on screen the entire time. There needs to be a way to showcase the entire roster, without throwaway esoteric shows like Main Event and Superstars.
  • they should do a brand split and include nxt in this split. they just need to put it on network tv and let it ride, they could treat it as its own brand so certain guys dont have to be brought on raw and get spoiled. this doesnt mean the nxt guys cant wrestle raw or smackdown guys, they could do regularly scheduled ppvs where they brands go at it with each other. they could book it as the brands hate each other and all wanna outdo one another

i think lucha underground is a great thing to show people who wanna get into wrestling, its exciting and fast paced and focuses less on th story so nothing is dragging while watching a show. i know i said befor it depends on the person, but i cant see anyone not liking this show. the only thing is they might not want to watch the sports entertainment part of wrestling after seeing lucha
  • I kinda wish WWE would just slightly scale the stories back. I used to miss the slow burn, long build ups, but the writers are trying to do that again and failing miserably. Current WWE idea of a feud is to have two entities just go at it over and over most shows between PPV's, each match being a gimmick or anything else preventing it from being a clean 1 vs. 1 bout, and all end dirty, to get you to watch the "clean" bout on PPV. It's so tired and wore out. It's so formulaic and copy/paste, like paint-by-numbers for wrestling. So of course, the audience knows the end result weeks before it happens. The past few Royal Rumbles, we've seen the clear winner as early as Summer Slam the year before. It didn't used to be this way.

Stuff like Lucha Underground is refreshing because like you said, the story isn't such a big deal, more focus is on the action. You don't see the same two guys go at it 3 times a week for a month straight. If I have to sit through Reigns versus Kane or Big Show one more time I'm going to cut somebody.

I think another good intro match would be Summerslam 91 when Bret Hart beat Mr. Perfect.

and when they do the same match over and over it means something, they did a best of series with drago vs aerostar and when drago won the series he got a title shot, but if he lost the title he would be banned from lucha underground, and hes been gone ever since. im sure hell be back in the future because hes a mega talent, but its things like that, that make me want to watch more of that show

lolol i totally missed this magic glasses thing, they live fucking rules

bret hart and mr perfect worked very good with each other, so id agree that could be a good match to show someone. im a big michaels fan and think alot of his work could be shown to people tryin to get into wrestling. there are some underrated classics like michaels vs mankind from mind games and michaels vs vader
from summerslam, i still think vader should have taken the title that night

That's the one! I love The Magic Glasses.

  • I'm wondering what the deal is with Samoa Joe. It looks like he is still on the ROH roster. Is he NXT or ROH or both.

I've also heard that Destination America may be dropping TNA and picking up ROH.
  • You heard right, last wednseday they showed ring of honor followed by tna which I think only has a month or so left? Roh is pretty boring though, I prefer tna over it. Samoa joe was able to book wresting gigs outside of nxt, kinda like how rhino was doing. I heard last week though that they locked him in an exclusive deal but they are letting him do all his bookings befor taking him for good
  • The ending to RAW last night was awesome. At first, I thought Ambrose was hanging on to the belt JUST to use it to cost Seth a match like that - then kick his ass and win it for real on Sunday. So, you can imagine my joy when I saw him give Rollins "Dirty Deeds", and take the belt back with him, lol.

Honestly, they're booking Ambrose awesomely at the moment. When he was coming down from the crowd after Reigns' match, his character is so friggin' genuine and likeable, lol. Stoked to see what happens Sunday!

It's impressive seeing Ryback lift up Show, but I agree; the match feels a bit meh. Probably just booked to make Ryback look even stronger for something down the line.
  • I used to love Big Show, about a decade ago. I wish he'd just go away. He just phones it in, week after week. His promo against Ryback last night literally sounded like he was reading off of a cue card. No expression, no heart, just "I'mma 7-foot giant and blahblahblah". He looked like he just woke up.
