LOST!!!

I am freak about five things in my life:

1. NES
2. Chicks
3. Jesus
4. NGD
and
5. LOST!!!!

I want to know who else is a freak about LOST. Its handsdown the best show on television. And if you are following the show closely, then last night's episode knocked you down and melted your face.

So, the purpose of this thread is to keep a discussion of all things LOST. Every Thursday after the show airs, this thread will be resurrected for those folks who want to discuss the show. All I ask is that if you have advanced knowledge of plots, characters or anything that might spoil a die hard fan, please don't ruin it for us.

"Guys...Where are we?"

  • I love this show....have loved it since day 1.  The whole Myst-ish theme I really enjoy.

I haven't watched last night's episode yet, I'll be watching it later tonight.  My wife was watching Gladiators to clear some HD space on the dvr and I was busy figuring out how to get the damn stamps to stick on the envelope in maniac mansion.  Took me a bit longer than I thought it would image

Now Ive got the code to the basement just need to mop things up...

Back on track though, I really like this thread and I'll be posting after I watch tonight's episode.  And who the hell is in the casket...I assume we will find out soon image

  • I don't think it is hands down the best show on TV. Obviously you haven't seen 24... I watched lost a few times and it seems kinda lame to me, I don't understand the hype.

  • 24 is great, but I prefer Lost...if you only watched a few episodes, I agree it would be hard to get into.  But if you start from the beginning, the way the plot builds and they do back/forward flashes it gets very interesting.

    1. Lost
    2. 24
    3. Entourage
    4. House
    5. Deal or No Deal (I can't help it, I'm addicted to watchin people fail to win the million...I can only watch it DVR'd though so I can skip through all the lame talking image )

    My humble opinion anyway !!

  • I'd watch it if they'd devolve in to a caveman state and go crazy lord of the flies style
  • Ive never actually seen an episode. Is it one of those shows that is pretty much impossible to just start watching from any day?

Basically.  I watched one once and it made no sense.

Though the only reason I have a TV in the first place is for the Nintendo.

Agreed.   Well... Nintendo and sports for me.  I just don't understand how anyone under 50, in this day and age, would want to willingly spend their time in front of the idiot tube.  (Though people say the same thing to me about watching NHL and NFL and Soccer, so it's all relative, I guess).
  • This is one of those shows I've been meaning to watch... I think I'll do what I did with 24, and just go out and buy a few seasons at once.
  • Zdan, glad to see another Entourage fan as well. Great show!

    ~~NGD
  • Glad to see Jesus on the list.
  • I am also a Lost fanatic

I also like Entourage and The Shield
  • I haven't missed an episode of Lost yet. Check out www.darkufo.blogspot.com for tons of aticles, spoilers, recaps, screen pics, and more. Not my site, just a great source for all your lost needs.
  • nobody will ever convince me there is a better TV show than The Sopranos, i know there has to be some fans here. I've seen a few episodes of Entourage and thought it was pretty cool. I also love the show Dexter. I personally think lost is kinda stupid, but hey thats just me.
  • Lost is one of those shows where even the shitty episodes are better than 90 percent of the other crap on television. You DO have to sit down and put in the time to watch the entire series to really enjoy it, but it's SOOO worth it.
  • I love that 80% of the people in this thread are trashing LOST when you haven't ever watched an entire season.

And anyone who has seen LOST and still calls the television the "idiot tube" has a few problems. That show is incredibly smart.

And you can't dispute that it isn't the best show on television if you haven't watched it. How many television critics have continually called it the best show on television? Plenty. And they've watched all the shows. It's their job.

Now then, back on track, last night's episode was glorious. It was interesting to see that the four people that came on the chopper (well three, not including the pilot) all have some skill at something the Dharma Initiative studied. Will be interesting to see why they want Ben.
  • Lost is awesome... wouldnt go so far to say its the best show on TV (well it is right now because of the writers strike but its in my top 3)... There are just so many questions that need to be answered in this season and its killing me having to wait for them. Does nobody like "Heroes" in here? Its by far my favorite show... then lost and 24 right after that. Although I think 24 is starting to fade..
  • I haven't watched Lost, but if it's not a "reality" show, then I will agree with arseface and say it is better than 90% of the stuff on TV right now.
  • I love me some Soprano's as well, seen every episode at least 2-3 times. I never have gotten into Heroes, but it looks pretty interesting. 24 is starting to fade a little I have to agree. Season 5 was the blockbuster season and will be nearly impossible to top.

  • NGD - Do yourself a favor and rent the first season. I was hesitant at first and then popped in the first disc and ended up watching 9 straight hours because it was so damn good. If you like 24 check out LOST dude...the mysteries are deeper, the characters are engrossing and the writing is top notch.

Kevin - indeed it will be interesting to see who is in the casket and why they want Ben. The whole scene with the polar bear skeleton in the Tunisian desert was money!! And the premiere where Jack pulled the trigger on Locke - brilliant!! I've heard the writers' strike will be over next week so we will get a full season of LOST.

Aaron - couldn't agree more bud!! A 'bad' episode of LOST is better than most everything on TV.

Basil - While I partially agree with your statement, 'under 50...why watch the idiot box?'...you should watch this show. It restored my faith in creativity, especially for a television show. You'd be surprised how much it makes you think, reflect and act on perception, faith and right and wrong. Good, good stuff.

Hoags - waiting for the answers is what makes it so good. I'd rather wait and earn the answers than to sit back and be fed them by disinterested writers. Anything worth having or learning is worth the time it takes to acquire them - the same may be said about collecting!!

Skank - The Soprano's was good, no doubt. LOST is great.

Shags - nice to know my Alaskan homey digs this show!!

Dain - Rent the first disc of season 1 and I guarantee that you will want to buy the rest of the season and watch it as fast as you can. This is television at its best!!

Nicky P - Progressively, LOST is becoming quite Lord of the Flies-esque.

Koonsty, Johnny - watch it from the start...thank me later.

zDan - this season will unfold and reveal the fruits of all our work/watching. It is a great time to be a LOST fan - we are in the middle of the entire series!!!

    Peace.

  • Question: What episode are you guys up to? I skipped down to here, without reading because I don't wanna read anything I haven't seen yet. Series 4 just started on Thursday night here.. I think you lucky American's are at least 1 ep in front of us!
  • Yeah, we've only had two episodes this season so far.
  • First episode this season (4): Beginning of the End

Last night's episode, no. 2: Confirmed Dead

I think alot of times abc.com may only work for computers in the US, I'm not sure on this though.
  • I have watched from the beginning.

Taped Wed. night and while watching it later that night tape ran out about 10 min. before the end.  Arrrrgggg.

Had to finish tonight on abc.com.    Good stuff.

  • Just watched this week's episode of Lost -- it was great!  Some hour-long shows just seem to drag on, but this one flew by -- I can't wait for next week's!
  • I havent got to watch any prime time tv for the last 11 years due to being at work. On my off days I actually like watching ninja warrior and the world wildest police chases.  If the start showing reruns during daytime hours i would be interested in watching
  • ^ Does that mean all of your posts here on NA are posted while you're hard at work? Because they're always in the evening image
  • My favorate fiction show on TV

But....I haven't watched any episodes yet this year.

    Gotta love DVRs
  • Hey MLN!

I also watched the first season when it starts to be broadcasted on
german tv - and I have to agree it was damn captiv. I saw all german
episodes that were available and than had to change on the HBO rips. I
also started with the second season somwhere till they found the guy in
down there in the bunker. After a break I forgot which one I watche
last so I didn't know where to start to check it up again...

But imo there should be an end anyday and this seams to not come.

Most series are starting with a very good plot (and mostly was planed
only for few episodes) than they see its getting popular and accepted
by the audience. Than starts the bad parts with enlarging a not so
good/bad story - this is my experience at least.

I started with watching Prison Break and was addicted from the first
episode - but the second season turned into a boring plot and I stoped
    to watching it....

Same with 4400 season one damn good plot (as I like this kind of
mistery and Sci-fi mixture) I bought the season two watched few
episodes and turned the tv off...the most is simply money making after
a good season one - the plot seams to be not more important image

The recently very good serie I watched is "The LOST Room" image Its a mistery mini serie with 3 episodes of 90mins.

    Be well!

  • I really enjoy lost, although I have only made it through the 1st season and part of the 2nd.  I usually don't watch prime time tv, I wait for it to be on dvd now so I can watch it on my time.
