just boards, they'd take a bit of dremel work but I'll probably get them into some old cases of bad games. I've got a T&C Surf Designs as the first candidate

i NEVER get deals like this anywhere, unless you count my $300 SE manual from ebay... but dan, that was a hell of a find for those prices... the ps1 games are amazing as well as the nigel mansell and the indy heat cibs!
Thanks guys, and yes he just had those CIB racing games sitting around his computer room -- he "threw them in" lol It's my second CIB Nigel I have on-hand right now, too. I just ask around. This guy and his wife seemed 25-30 and were selling some crap on their corner...but he was actually wearing a Pac-Man shirt so I struck up a convo with him and he wound up inviting me inside to show me his old games. I threw out a number and he was very happy with that, I think they had a bad morning at the yard sale so I paid for some diapers anyways
Here we go. Links to original listings after thumbs.
I say these are NM but what I really mean is these are as mint as game boxes come. They don't even look like they were put up for sale on shelves, they're just that nice. The gumshoe is obviously hangtab-unpunched, but the real killer finds are the MFF book (absolute shed-a-tear mint) and mint box, and the 3-screw DK with matching non-hangtab box. Curiously, the MFF has no side-slashes, the box is ridiculously close to mint. It was never a rental, that much is obvious, and I doubt this was ever opened by a blockbuster employee. I wonder if these were mailorder like some of the FS2's that are floating around.
Very nice, surprised you would not be keeping the DK non-hang tab, that's only the 2nd one found next to the one I have.
Why couldn't you have found another 5 screw Mega Man or non-hang tab DK JR damnit?
lol, I don't collect box variants, and I'm not one to hoard simply for the sake of covetousness. Gotta set them free! The few boxed games I keep laying around, I just plain like...this one doesn't tickle my pickle. FTR, this is actually the fourth 3-screw DK I've come across - I just recently found out I still need 5-screw Every one I've ever owned was the kind that was more scarce lol. That's just because I've been keeping an eye out for them, though.
Warning: heady variant chat:
It would seem logical that this and DK Jr appear in the same frequency (same release, and same production cutoff when they went to the "classics" 2-in-1), but in practice I don't think this holds up. I've had a lot tougher time finding my 3-screw Jr, and I assume by your lack of non-tab box you've noticed the same. I think it may actually be an order of magnitude MORE scarce than the DK variant simply because it sold more poorly, there were more reorder requests for the classic that people recognized. Sequels always see flatter sales.
IMO DK Jr 3-screw is probably the only 10 (relatively speaking to other screw variants, of course). I think Volleyball, Gyromite and DK1 are the only 8/9's, with all others (including Ninja Kid, this pops up often) far below. I don't believe the other unconfirmed ones (you and I know which ones I'm talking about) exist at this point.
Also, the Monster in my Pocket finally finished off something I've been wanting forever, that tiny stupid plastic monster. I had this loosely grouped with my "games that have accessories" subset, but obviously the pack-in plastic monster doesn't quite qualify. Still it's nice to finally have - although the damned thing is SEALED so I can't even get at it to see what color mine is
Hopefully some more highlights in a few more months.
