Hah, I forgot to bid on the BB as well...you still probably would've won it but around $100 more. When I clicked on it I was glad to see it was you that won it though.
As Dan said it just wasn't the right time monetarily speaking. Such a kind fellow that dangevin. That said, I still need this manual and its eating me up inside.
Nice finds Dan. I'm super jealous of your FFF AW manual
And the Maniac Mansion hint book was for a side deal. It's code is NES-HB-LF1-Book which can must stand for NES-HintBook-LucasFilm1. Sexy stuff. Also on the cover it refers to itself as the "Jaleco Maniac Mansion Hint Book" - of course Jaleco developed the NES port, and had no hand in other versions such as the PC or earlier computer games (Amiga, Atari ST, C64, etc). They were responsible for the censorship of the game, thus the need for a separate NES hint book with certain notes removed. It likely wasn't specifically cited as an NES hint book because there were plans to release the game on other consoles that never panned out.
Holy god, this is the first time I've ever seen this thread. According to finds like this, I've never even had a good find and would barely qualify mine as mediocre...

haha yeah dangevin has some crazy insane finds...especially that Zelda test cart!!
Thanks Otto, lately I've gotten interested in "Sexy Paper" - I also picked up a nice Dragon Warrior CIB with all the Nintendo Power mailaway trimmings as well. Nice thing about Sexy Paper is it doesn't take up a lot of room lol

Trust me, it does when you get a shitload of it...I have waaaay too much paperwork for the NES. I think I have somewhere around 16-20 binders full of the stuff.
I'm pretty sure Dain picked up the last one something like 9 months ago, maybe more...? I seem to remember something about it here, but with the thread search function being what it is

dan, what is this in regards to? the uninvited hint book? is that rare? i have had one for a while. im not a big collector of the hint books so i dont know what is rare and what isnt.
The conversion kit is a floppy, a cartridge, and dongles for both a PC Parallel port and an NES controller port. So you can play the same hardware on either. It's a 5 1/4" floppy lol.
The Uninvited hint book is very hard to find. Mailaway only. It's also very cheaply made, on the same kind of paper as a Nintendo Power.
dan, what other kemco guides are out there? shadowgate is one... was that mailaway only, as well? why would each of them have that little price on them if they were only available through the mail? crazy!
Shadowgate was available by mailaway, but the exact same guide was also available over-the-counter at PC gaming stores like Electronics Boutique, back in the day. I can personally vouch for this as I remember seeing it and wishing I had the money for it. This was back before the internet and GameFaqs, of course! Back then most tip guides were this small size, they didn't have the big magazine style BradyGames guides back then. Sierra games also had many tiny tip books. Frequently, they had red-gelatin "tech specs" decoders so you wouldn't spoil other answers while you were looking up the one you needed.
The Shadowgate doesn't have this - it has an "answer key" appendix format. It's pretty cool, there are three levels of increasingly-revealing answers to all sticking points in the game. The Maniac Mansion does, it needs the red film (or requires that you strain your eyes, at least).
Shadowgate is probably the most common of all non-Nintendo-Power tip guides, thusly. I've never seen one for Deja Vu, but one would think it exists...I'm sure someone will chime in.
i never saw that maniac mansion one, but i do have a few of the shadowgate one, and i know i have 1 uninvited one that i got in a lot of games which were poorly listed on ebay (the guide was listed as the manual to the game. it came cart, box, guide, but no manual). i like getting guides for rpgs that i enjoy playing (snes and gba sp games) but i never really was interested in the nes ones.
i definitely dont have a deja vu one and never have seen one either. who was the person who had every guide book made for the nes? dain? jason? i dont remember. maybe one of them could answer that question!
that is sara (raregamergirl)'s auction. she knows what its worth, and its probably not worth that much! if you keep your eyes peeled,, you can find it for cheap when it pops up. it's not in high demand!

Nice pick-up on the Miracle Piano Conversion kit. Does it have the box? If not, you may be interested in this one.

Yep, it exists, and it's the hardest of the 3 to find. I've got one and I'm pretty sure NGD does as well.
Deja Vu CIB with Guide Book, $47.99 + $4.00 S/H I'm sure one of you guys would buy this if the Deja Vu Hint Book is so damn hard to find....

If I didn't already have this, I'd buy that in a second. It took me almost 2 years to find that hint book.
