For Sale: Kay Bee World of Nintendo sign

The guy I got this from said he was a manager at a Kay Bee toys in Northern New Jersey in the early 1990s which is where he got this. When these signs were ordered to be thrown out, the guy went around to every Kay Bee toys store in the area, but said that he was unsuccessful with every try, because most of them actually threw it out. I also vaguely remember him saying that these cost in the $300-400 range for the store to purchase. My memories of what the guy said are somewhat vague so don't take these for factual information, but that's what I remember. That's as much information as I can give you about this.

There are only 2 instances of this sign known of. The first one is owned by Parpunk, the second one is owned by myself. It is actually one of the coolest signs I have seen and is powered by fiber-optic lights. The lights change color and there is a motor inside it that changes the light colors. The sign is fucking huge!! It is 6 feet tall and VERY heavy. It may not look as big in the picture, but it is taller than I am.

Once again, I don't want to sell this, but I have to. I would prefer to deal with somebody locally, but if you really want this and don't live near me, I can work with you to have it shipped.

I have a price in mind that I want to let it go for. Please PM me with offers or interest.

EDIT: Whoops! Sorry, I forgot to say about where I live. I live in southern New Jersey, about 15 minutes outside of Philadelphia, PA.

Note: This is Parpunk's picture in his game room. I don't have a picture of mine, though it is exactly the same sign.

  • still kicking myself for not getting this last year when Mark got his. I def could not afford it now at today's sign prices, with flat plastic ones approaching $100. Oh well, snooze/lose.
  • I've seen these a few times, and always told myself, "I'll get the next one." Now I don't have the room at least for 4 months, otherwise I'd make a nice offer. Damn, my timing sucks! BTW, I've seen at least 4 of these, but they're definitely uncommon.
  • Nick do you have any clue what something like this would cost to ship to me? I know couldn't be farther away but I've always wanted one of these too!
  • What is the magic # you are looking for to sell this? I am kinda interested but depending on price...

  • @Braveheart: I'm not sure. If you are seriously interested, I could call some places in my area and get you a shipping quote.

    @NationalGameDepot: I'm hoping in the $300-400 range.
  • $400 isnt bad since Nick is throwing in everything in the picture (hey, a guy can dream can't he).

  • LOL throwing everything in the pic............, i guess he'll be coming to my house and robbing me LOL. Considering thats a picture of my game room haha. Anyways $400.00 is a steal for this IMO, i paid $60.00 for mine by some freak auction, that got listed misspelled and with a local pickup. But after owning this sign, if i had to get another one, i would DEFINETLY pay $400.00 just to have it. Its by far the coolest and biggest head turning old nintendo sign out there. Very nice addition to a collection and room, i know id never part with mine.
  • If i collected signs this would probably be good for you since im literally less than 1 hour from you and i could easily get it from you
  • $400 seems like a good price to me too and I dont even collect stuff like that! Very cool display. I can see it above the Giant NES now, probably make the sign look small LOL
  • I'm glad you guys think $400 is a good price. I also think it is a good price though I realize a lot depends on who is in the area that can buy it. I added a price tag on this of $400 or best offer. I recommend picking this up now if possible because this is a very nice sign and you probably will not see another one for a very long time.
  • Nick yes I would love to have this but I'm afriad the shipping would be like $150 or some crazy thing to get it here... but if you can check and it's not horrendous maybe we can work a deal!

Um...shipping's going to be high, it seems like... I just checked the cost of UPS Ground, and just based off the size of the package, for it to go from him to you would be $173 (assuming the finished package size was 73 x 25 x 15)... FedEx wants $154 for ground shipment (but it's a day slower than UPS). DHL wants $133 for ground shipment (2 days slower than UPS)... Unfortunately, the USPS doesn't ship packages that large :/ .

Edit:  Yes, I evidently have nothing better to do than to check random shipping rates on random items to random zip codes...  It confirms what I have said earlier (three times yesterday, in fact):  I fail at life image .
  • I would definitely make an offer on this.. too bad the shipping would be so much :-\
  • My God how times have changed!!!
  • I know you mean well but please don't bump old sale threads.
