Super Famicom Power Supply Replacement

I am interested in using a Super Famicom in the US and I found this adapter here.

I noticed the specs don't match the official adapter specs I found here.

Does anyone with electrical experience know if the adapter for sale is safe to use?

Thanks!

  • all of this is going to be hypothetical, since I don't have a super fami system for reference. however, I do have famicom, and according to your second link, they use the same ac adapter.

assuming that's true, you can use a model 1 genesis (also sega cd) adapter model mk-1602. they are rated DC 9v (or 10v on some variants) which is close enough, 1.2A which meets your minimum of 850mA, and the tip is center-negative. The last part is important, as most ac adapters are center-positive, including the model 2 genesis adapters (mk-2103). I don't have any personal experience plugging an opposite polarity plug into something, but apparently you should avoid doing that.

Other people have successfully run fc systems on the 1602's, and I did for a while until I happened across an exact replacement. I didn't have any issues. So again, if your super fami uses the same adapter as an original fc, this should be fine.

here's a handy reference for US consoles.
