Big nose caveman with Nes PowerPak

when i play Big nose caveman with Nes PowerPak in 3rd stage and any later stage the screen flicker.

its very difficult to play.

i have last 1.35b2 beta mapper with last loopy mappers and savestate 1.5

i have no problem with others games difficult to run: startropics 1 and 2 run perfect.

Thanks for help.

Big nose is one of my favorite game and i use the nes powerpak in travel. i dont have to bring all my nes cart.

    IMPORTANT NOTE: i said flicker, but im not sure i use the good word. the problem is the screen move up and down very fast. LIKE A EARTHQUAKE !! LOL So i become very dizzy. its not very funny to play this game like that. I have the original game and it dont do that. i think the screen cant stay in the center of the screen, and the problem happen. ANYWAY THANKS FOR HELP

    Make sure you have the right dump and a good one. Download another ROM and try that one. Doesn't sound plausible that it's the powerpak/mapper IMO.

    very strange. i will try another rom.



    EDIT: i tried several roms. the problem always there.



    in stage 3 sometime the screen go up and down very fast for 2-3 seconds too like a earthquake.



    its look like a sync problem. how can i be the only one to have this problem LOL



    the game become really unplayable.



    I HAVE THE ORIGINAL GAME , AND THE ORIGINAL GAME DONT DO THAT.

    ITS ONLY DO THE PROBLEM WITH A CRT TV not a LCD TV



    But the problem dont happen with the ORIGINAL GAME on a CRT TV.

    No video needed, it makes sense now. They used color #$0D as flack instead of #$0F I'm guessing. I don't have any ROMS to test it right now, but that's most likely the problem. Does your actual cart do the same? It should.

    i have a official nes system. But my ac power supply is not the official.

    i will try to buy a official ac power adaptor,  but it could be long to find it.

    I'd say that might be it. Although I don't know why it'd only do it for that game at that spot. I'd try that first though. After that, I'm out of ideas.

    I am guessing you are hooking it up via RF to your TV, and that the RF adapter is a generic one? When you tried it on your LCD, did you use the same RF adapter or did you use RCA cables?

    i use the same RCA cable for hook my nes to my lcd and crt tv.

    i have the official RF adaptor but i didnt try it with my nes because i prefer the RCA cable screen quality.

    i will try my RF adaptor

    Nope, just checked in the emulator, it's because of the color #$0D, I can almost guarantee it.

    ETA: Tried to hack it, but there's a shitload of data and palettes in the ROM, I tried but just gave up after editing a TON of palettes, upwards of 50 and not even half way done. I was getting some colors changed to 0F but they not always, I just gave up. I don't have time to fix it right, sorry.

    Well RF actually made it worse for me, I was getting weird waves on the sides, but I still couldn't get what you are getting. I thought maybe a generic RF adapter would do it, but if you are using RCAs I don't know.....might be something with your specific TV.

    i just used hex edit to try it myself, but im not sure what to do... i used hex edit in the past for changing speed mhz in some emulators for my gp32.

    note: i tried the official RF cable and i have the same result.

    i tried more than 100 roms. no problem with others except for Big Nose Freak out. anyway i dont like this game. But this game has the screen problem very strongly. completly unplayable. its terrible.

    But finally the problem happen WITH ALL CAMERICA NES GAMES that are installed on the powerpak cart.

    some have the screen problem worst than others. i only like Big nose from Camerica company. But still its really a strange thing.



    Very strange. no others games are affected.



    the only original Camerica nes cart i own is big nose. and it work on my crt tv.



    still i will ask my father to check my crt tv. hes a electronic technician

    Big nose with my Wii nes emulator fceugx , has not the screen problem

    edit: i tried the game The Immortal , a guy told me this game should make the same problem.

    i just play 5 minutes with it.

    But I have no problem at all its Play Perfect.

    note: i just tried Tagin Dragon the screen dont move up and down, but its not centered. the screen is too down, i miss the bottom of the screen.
    Still its not the same problem than Camerica games
