Legend of Zelda NES Cart Issue!

Hi, I'm brand new to this forum.. Although I've read and went through it before I figured I'd do my first post with this issue..

I bought this cart a while ago and like all carts I buy I opened it up to clean it... And then I see the inside. It is perfectly clean. The contacts are pure gold. The board itself seems fine. I can't see any messed up traces or any leaks. But EVERY time i pop it into my toaster oven. I get this same exact graphic glitch. It never changes either.

Sorry if the photos are too damn huge or small. New to this Photo editor deal with this forum.
I figured it was maybe a bad chip or something. I plan on keeping it either way as it is interesting.

  • While there is some wear to the solder side, I dont think it should cause the garbled graphics. Maybe the pin connector is dirty on one specific pin? Some are worn up high. Maybe some Weimans is in order?
  • Yeah I've cleaned it before. I could try some more. I need to buy Weimans still. I use either Goo-Gone or an Eraser. Depends. All my other carts seem to clean okay. Hell comparing these contacts to my "found in a garbage can Megaman 2" and that game still works. But I will go over it again after I buy Weimans.
  • I assume your console plays your other games well? Maybe some of those scuffs are worse than they look. I too have had carts that look worse, that still play well. Hope someone else can spot something I cant!

  • Yeah my NES plays everything else fine. I've cleaned that thing tons of times. Thanks for talking with me about it though. I'll have to go over it again and fine clean it.
  • Because your NES plays other games find, that doesn't mean its 100% clean. I don't think any game uses every single pin. If one pin that Zelda needs is dirty, and none of the other games you tried use that pin, they will play fine and Zelda won't.

I say take your NES apart so you can get a good look at the pins.
  • Didn't you know? Nintunto is a knock brand of Nintendo. Your cart is fine
  • @MrMiniMog

Yeah I figured that might be the case. I'll have to do that tonight. See if I can get a good look. If it fixes it, I'll post a nice non-Nintunto picture hahaha.
  • Wow, copyright logos sprinkled on the graphics... Is this what the future of gaming will be like?

Maybe I'll start signing all my repro labels with Nintundo instead. Man that sounds funny.
