  • *wipes off monitor* Beautiful Johnny!
  • Dreamcast collection looks great, Johhny! Hope I can post a pic up here myself real soon.
  • OCD update

  • Thank gawd! That first pic was killing me!
  • So all you have left are a few genesis titles and you'll own every sega game ever?
  • Every US Sega Console game, Yes.

I am still on the fence about GameGear. I have the game gear games I want, I have debated doing a loose set, I don't know if I want to tackle boxed sets, I have to many other goals ahead of me.

If you start tackling Game Gear you have to do boxed as you have with all the others and cart only just don't look great on a shelf.
  • Awww yeah boyee! I finally did it, I finally cracked 1000 MD / Gen games: http://www.goldenagegaming.com/pages/games.php
  • Finally got all 7 major revision of Genesis hardware in original boxes! Unless there's an 8th I don't know about... I'm talking things you can look at and immediately tell that it's different. Fuck chip differences and box/pack-in variants. These things take up enough space. ^_^

HDG Model 1 Altered Beast box

    non-HDG model 1 w/ Sonic 1 pack-in

    Model 2 Core System

    Model 3 Core System

    JVC X'Eye Red Box

    CDX

    Nomad

I even have that AT Firecore clone thing for giggles. It's a piece of shit. I doubt I'll pick up any more clone systems. Money better spent on games. I've also got a Model 2 SCD and 32x in box so I suppose I'm only missing a model 1 and PBC to complete the Genny w/ add-ons set.

I also won an ebay auction for a really nice looking model 2 Master System complete in box so that'll do for SMS when it shows up. It's totally like buying a NES toaster and toploader and saying yep got em all, but again: Games are cooler than box variants and they're huge.

Lastly, I cracked 200 Genny games. Not quite as impressive as 1000, but I'll just have to live with it until I can be cool like Dane.

I'll do another set of pictures at the beginning of the year. By then I'll have at least another 300 games.

Not yet. I'm not done paying for it.

Are you paying for it in blood or dead babies? Either way you will pay for it indeed, you will pay with your life when it comes time to meet your maker! The day of reckoning is upon us and not even a small forte made of JapaneseMD games can keep the four horseman from embroiling you into thraldom.
  • Congrats Dan, 5k is a large amount of games. To put it in perspective if you added them up it would total more than a complete set of: Masters System, Genesis, 32X, Sega CD, Game Gear, Saturn, Dreamcast, NES, SNES, N64, and Gamecube
  • This thread needs a bump!

My small milestone is that I now have less than 10 games remaining to complete a full Korean Mega Drive set. The majority of my games are boxed, but for what I haven't found boxed I have instead picked up cart-only, and there are now 9 games that I still need to find, cart-only or otherwise. There is an additional 10th game that is rumored, but I still haven't come across any pictures to be positive that it exists.

I also expect to have a big milestone bump coming up in the next little while. Keep posted and you guys post too!
  • High five on the korean set, as I bet dane was an influence and supporter with his recent auction.

That is quite an accomplishment. I know we all wish dane was still collecting, but it you combined collections to make almost a full one that is great. You also have one less competitor of somebody who actually know about the korean variants. The few times i've seen the before, they looked like pirates and didn't think twice about them. I'm sure other are the same way. What are the last 9-10 games you need?
  • Hehe, actually every single Korean game that Dane owned passed through my hands first. They were all games that I owned and once I got a double of it I sent it to Dane.

The last 9 I need are:

Wonderboy III - Monster Lair (this one I saw CB early on in my collection and passed on it. now I regret that decision)

    Rolo the Rescue

Captain America (I actually have a box and manual, but no cart)

    Jungle Strike

    Outrunners

    Fifa International Soccer

    Tom and Jerry

    Chuck Rock II

    Jurassic Park

In Korea popularity commands price for the most part. Golden Axe I or II will be quite steep, while something like Rolo to the Rescue would sell for pennies if it ever showed up. The Korean versions of Japanese SHMUPS sell for a lot, but like everything I'm missing is nothing special - which also means that it is less likely for someone to buy it and put it up for resale.

The 10th rumored game is a MD version of Jang Pung II (Street Fighter clone). It was released for the SMS. Jang Pung 3 was also for the SMS, but it had a identical release that was just put into an MD cart instead. I've heard there is a similar MD cart for Jang Pung II, but I've never seen it.

  • If you do get an entire Korean set it will probably be one of if not the biggest epic feat of any Megadrive collection / collector. I don't think most people quite know how special and epic it is.
