Rename the "Price Check" forum area
I use to enjoy looking at the price check area, it use to have
interesting/cool items to see and read about and was a great place to
learn. Now it's pretty much just packed full of questions about games
you can very easily find information for, either here, eBay, or any
number of other websites, without having to ask.
So I have a suggestion to rename the Price Check forum to something along the lines of "Rare and unusual items check - Have a rare and/or unusual item you are unsure about? We're here to help!"
It seems most people get annoyed when something along the lines of "hey guys, how much is my Mega Man 5 cart only worth" gets asked, so why keep the forum name to something that invites that type of question?? Yeah, they should read the FAQs and sticky, but we all know that doesn't happen.

Perhaps rename it to "Oddities" or something?
Either that, or make the rules more strict for people who keep asking for prices on common things.
I agree with Krunch. I don't think a name change is the issue, but more of a moderation. When people ask a common question it should be directed to ebay or a common source, such as dangevin's guide, and then locked. That's my suggestion. I do think we should keep an open mind to newer members though since the goal is to try to help newer members and welcome them in. I wouldn't want someone to get beat up on because they don't know that they are able to get info they can't find.
I know that personally, I wouldn't want to not get help because I'm afraid to ask. I don't see Price Check being flooded with requests so I don't think it's a big deal yet.
If there was a cart only and/or CIB price guide that was updated monthly, that would solve a lot of these problem. If anyone is willing to take that task on, that would be a HUGE help!
gwyndion, I agree with everything you said but I don't think a CIB guide is realistic or helpful because of the reason stated above.

. Maybe more mod involvement like it used to be?
I think this is the FIRST time I have ever heard that the forums want MORE moderation.
Wasn't it just 6 months ago everybody wanted less?

Well I'm a different kind of croc. No usually I don't like heavy mod involvement but in this area it's welcome, the mods are experienced enough to know which Price Check threads are lock-worthy so there is usually no debate. Plus locking helps newbies from getting ridiculed which has been known to happen.

Definitely not a common game, and a mod links him to a bunch of overpriced BINs and locks the thread. Yeah Beni, you don't do paypal and you obviously don't do eBay either. BINs are hardly even indicative of true value.
At worst, one person responded with a $75 comment and the thread should have stayed open. Sigh...
See, and now a bunch of people complain and we're overmoderating again locking useful threads.

That is one I was on the fence about...there is some info on it..but not a whole lot.
I have no probs unlocking and letting you talk about it.
Feedback is the key to success...

This is the kind of attitude that makes a good moderator IMO.
Not someone who is a pushover....but someone who is willing to listen, stay humble and reverse a decision when necessary.
I believe Paul has implemented this suggestion.
And I believe Josh has started enforcing the new standard ');" ="sendEmo('');" href="void(0);">
