Gamecube rarity rankings?

I dont know who has the knowledge & time to set the gamecube rarity rankings, but it would be awesome to have!

Plus with the newer Wii's not being Gamecube backwards compatible, its basically a given that the Wii U will not support GC games.

Im pretty sure shortly after the release of the Wii U major retailers such as Gamestop will stop carrying Gamecube games... so its really starting to seem like the window of finding rare titles cheaply & quickly @ major retailers is about to come to an end.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated, im aware my "suggestion" is actually a humongous undertaking.

  • Well the prices aren't exactly accurate the rarity is pretty accurate (even though I'm pretty sure beyond good and evil is not that rare)

is this accurate.. my local gamestop has pikmin 2, and my local retro place has that mario mega mix ddr (without mat..) ??
  • I believe NCAA Basketball 2k3 is the big one, right? Rarity-wise, anyway.
  • I would have to assume Pokemon Box is the "big" catch for GC. NCAA Basketball 2K3 would probably be second. Pikmin 2 top 10, but rarity for GC is not the same as rarity on NES. Path of Radiance is somewhat rare and then my local Gamestop got 2 last week. It really all varies on how hard you look. The top 10 on Rarity Guide I have seen a dozen times over the past year,(except Pokemon Box and NCAA Baketball 2k3) but I search every weekend wherever I know they sale GC games.
  • Metroid / Zelda Combo is the #1 IMO. Zelda Triple Pack is also top 5.

Also, I don't consider Pikmin 2 rare at all.  Just highly popular and never got a re-release on the Wii in the states like Pikmin 1 did.  That adds up to a high price.  But high price does not equal rare.
  • Bone I'm gonna pm you a question regarding some GC titles on this list. Rather then start a thread. If that's ok with you

As I said pretty acurate.  What jone said about Pikimin 2.  It is valuable but unfortunatly GS price is quite high on this one.  I think the Mario Mix with the mat is rare.

I think it's safe to say the top 3 are

    1. Pokemon Box

    2. NCAA College Basketball 2K3

    3. Phantasy Star Online: Episodes 1+2 Plus

  • I completely agree with Jonebone. I've never seen a metroid/zelda combo,NCAA 2K3, or Pokemon Box in person before. I've seen countless Pikmin 2's at Gamestop (for $40 none the less) and own all the other rare games for the system. I purchased most of them at Gamestop during their b2g1 sales.

No it's not safe to say that. The Metroid Prime/Wind Waker Combo game is extremely hard to find.

  • Yeah Pokemon Box and Metroid/Zelda are for sure a couple of the rarest. 2k3 is easier and cheaper then those, but still pretty rare. I'm going for a complete set, but am only half way there, so I should have a better idea on whats realy rare as I get down to my last 50 games or so... which may happen in another year or two.

I'm also trying to find all the player choice titles as well, so maybe someday I'll have an idea on there rarity too.
