I am too, but I am getting more frustrated with them lately.  I sent a game overnight on 9/25 and requested Archival and am a Platinum Member.  I have not received an invoice, confirmation or anything regarding the submission.  After two weeks I send an email today and receive this:

  • I got that B.S. too. I'm finally getting annoyed now. They completed 1 of mine 1.5 weeks ago and still haven't shipped. Kim said they'll be out columbus day but that was Monday. Do they have another CON to go to? I dunno.

Yeah dude if WE are getting upset there is an issue.....I have supported them for a loooong time

I can't imagine how pissed people are getting that don't like them to begin with but look at it as a means to an end

  • Ugh, I just shipped out my stuff on Friday... I guess I'll have them back by November.

Think I'm going to hold of sending them my Conker's BFD till they get their heads out of their asses... or at least get this order back to me.
  • Until my last submission I never had an issue. My sub was for the 10-15 business day service. It took a week past my deadline to get grades and two more days before they shipped. I understand they are busy but come on, they can't sit here and say we are short staffed or are behind on orders when they had my submission an entire month before the due date. They need to get off their ass and quit waiting until the day before the submission is due to grade our shit.
  • What bothers me is that there is no acknowledgement that there is an issue. Personally I think it's volume generated. Too much to grade and it just piles up. I've had something there for literally like 6 months. Granted it's a tough thing to authenticate but WTF 6 MONTHS!!! They easily can add something to the website that lets you know how backed up they are. They should let us know so we can plan accordingly
  • I agree 100%. Communication is key here.
  • Things are taking way too long and grading standards have changed yet they don't acknowledge either issue.
  • Well I guess that's life when there's no comparable alternative. Oh well, still sending off a submission tomorrow myself. We can complain all we want but we're still going to use the service unless there's a competing company.

But personally, I haven't noticed grades getting excessive yet. Last time I sent off NES in August I still got almost all Golds and only Darkwing Duck missed at 85. Scuffing was cited as the reason on that one. Just make sure you're looking the games over under the light at all angles because scuffing is where it's at. Anyone can look at corners and creases, those are the obvious flaws.
  • I have to agree with all of you guys here. I do have some issues with VGA myself. Mostly the time frame (that i pay for)set. I will usually archive every game and will get the fastest turn around time. Lately VGA has been taking longer than expected. Some money should be refunded imo because your paying for the fastest 2 to 4 day turnaround time and you expect for your game to arrive on time. Not only that, i have a few friends that are complaining about grades being sent once they receive their game back from VGA. I do not blame them for being disappointed with the final grade they receive. Most of the time you can pretty much guess if the raw/sealed game your sending in will get atleast an 85+ GOLD. Your hoping for atleast that, if not higher!!! I am more than positive that VGA is tightening up on the grade system. Makes me regret the sealed Ninja Gaiden II and Tetris i submitted in that i am awaiting to get back to me. Believe me,,,i would never submit a sealed game (no matter what title it is) if i knew it did not have the potential to be a gold grade. For example, A game with atleast some light scuffing to the cello and maybe 1 corner lightly poking through that would usually get an 85+ is now either an 80 or 80+. Something should be said on their part just to have the common courtesy for the people making their business what it is today! I usually do not post the treads real often like some of the members do here, but i feel like this is turning into a real issue. I am seriously considering to just go SEALED ONLY and use VGA'S method for reselling purposes only instead of using them for my own personal collection!
  • Just got my invoice from them.... they'll be done on the 16th, not horrible considering I'm a silver member & I sent 5 games on 3 different systems including a TG16 game. That is, if their estimate is correct and they actually ship on the 16th (yeah right).

    When had you shipped them?

  • Collectors like Roy/Tom/Amber/Jason/Jone who have posted in this thread recently and numerous others who have submitted tons of VGAs know what an 85+ looks like. C'mon now lets be real. How many VGAs have you ran through? We know when something is min 85+ or better. Of course there are those borderline 85-85+'s but when you see a gem its a GEM. Jone made a good point as to why its changing. At this point its just adjusting to their more strict grading. Finding mintier raw copies or for those that need gold to be more selective and probably end up buying alot more already graded gold for their must haves. In terms of the wait time, just frustrating. It HAS to turnaround but I do think they should send a mass BCC email out to the people that are overdue over X number of days. Its only right in terms of good service.

They might be relunctant to admit there is a problem, i.e. longer wait times, because the natural reaction would be a refund. I agree though, they should be more professional. Personally, I would refund people money now as I would see that as money coming back to me in the future.

  • if they're that much being schedule, why dont just stop taking orders ? or simply give a longer delay ? i mean, when we can't do a job fast enough here or expect a delay, we inform the client that we can't do it until 3-4 weeks or simply "Sorry X, we'll have to delay because of this, this ir this reason". generally they are very happy with the communication and they'Re fine with the date. if they're not, we try our best or tell 'em they can have it if they pay extras and we do it on overtime.

    communication is the key !
  • I spoke to Chad. They apologize for being late recently. It started during San Diego comic con and then c6, the Star Wars convention as they have a large customer base there. The good news is they just hired a few new employees and Kim a new assistant.
  • Just a quick question....

I am considering to send in 2 games for grading, but since I live in Europe, how long time will that take for me to get the games graded? And how much will it cost me? Would it perhaps be cheaper for me to send the games to one of NA-members who frequently grades his/her games and let him send in the games FOR me, or?

Help is much appreciated, of course!
  • The levels of how fast you want to get the games graded is on the submission form. I would expect international orders to take around 2 months for you to send and receive. It seems it would cost more to send to a NA member and then to VGA since your paying shipping for the package twice.
  • Well... the 16th came and went without any notice from VGA that my games were done. Not really happy.
  • Ok, I have a submission question. I have a sealed controller I want graded. Measurements of the box are approx 9"x6.5"x3". Does this just fall under the Video Game Custom Size 1 (V-C1-3) since its under 20 inches?? Or is there a different system they go by since its not a game? Im not looking to spend a lot of money to get them graded since the controller didnt even cost me that much to begin with but I know I want it done.
  • Still no word from VGA... getting a bit pissed off...

I didn't look at their chart, but if the measurements fall within a classification then it should qualify for that level.  I don't think they care whether it's a game or accessory, as long as it fits within the posted size requirements.

Have you tried emailing them?  Are you saying no word as in they aren't responding to you, or no word as in no shipping notification?  I find that when I'm a few days behind schedule, I send a polite reminder asking about the status of my items and usually have an update within 48 hours.

Don't wait around for them to contact you or perhaps it will continue to slip.  But you also don't want to blow up their email with irate messages either.  There's a fine line between respectfully inquiring about your items and being obnoxious and demanding.

I agree the service is a bit flawed, but for a monopoly, I'd say they are pretty good. They could be a LOT worse and people would still be forced to use them.

  • I've both called and sent email.
  • Thanks Jone, I appreciate it.
  • Anyone from Europe who've sent gems to grading, hmm?

Lots of Europe collectors on this forum. sealedgameheaven.com

They could answer your questions a bit quicker probably.

  • The price chart is too complicated. How much for just a damn N64 game to be graded unopened in box =P
  • Gams finally shipped today...
  • Wow dude that was quite a while.
