There is a serial number authenticator on the VGA's website that will match a game to a serial number. Someone could still try to duplicate a label of a known serial number (and that's why some people blur their serial numbers in pics), but I don't think that's happened yet.
Question for people who get disc based games graded. I sent it a flawless Metroid Prime 2. Yes i know it doesnt have much value but i love the cover art and thought it would look nice in a case with a grade. Now, when i say flawless i mean flawless. I looked it over with a magnified glass. The plastic was tight all around. No ripples around the edge except very small spot on back bottom corner. No scuffs. And when i say no scuffs i mean no scuffs. No imperfections anywhere. No scratches, no rips. I really looked this thing over and couldnt find any flaws. I've sent in games several times and have always gotten what i expected except for games in these kinds of cases with y fold seals. Is there something with the seal that they grade harsh on? Like i said i couldnt find any flaws in my metroid prime 2 and it came back an 85+. Now im not complaining, its still a very good grade. I always happy with gold. But i was expecting higher. I had sent in a few DS games a while back and thought id get higher as well and they came back 85+. I have a PS@ game graded that got a 90 and im comparing it to my Prime 2 and Prime 2 looks a million times better than the 90! So is there something i should look for in the seal on these kind of games? Maybe with the Y-Fold or the seam?
The main thing on disc based games is to look for light scuffing near the spine on the front and back. Many times those games came straight out of cases scuffed near the edge.
So. I am curious on one matter... I have a sealed Killer Instinct big box (the one with Nintendo Watch) that I would like to try to get graded, along with other games. Since it is not a regular big box like Earthbound, what details am I supposed to remember to check before sending the game for grading...? I have never graded before, so I'd kindly appreciate your inputs on that. To put things into perspective, here is how much bigger the box is: http://bildr.no/view/OUE0NWUx
Second thing... I have a SCN Zelda: OoT sealed (without a redstrip, sadly) that I also would like to grade, but unfortunately I don't have many pics of it right now, so you'll have to live with these. What grading value would you think that I would get for this, perhaps? Here are some bad quality photos:
I'm thinking about getting a SNES game graded. The outside looks great, but I can here the game is loose inside the box. I know it's common for the "C" treys to break, which is what happened here. I'm wondering if this will affect the grade of the game at all.

Doubtful... loose discs on PS1 games do not seem to affect their grade.
WHOA! Great job that's really impressive with how poorly shipped these systems can be!
How long did it take and what tier did you use?
I sent my packages off today and It's going to be pricey that's for sure, but I'm excited.
I bought a few pikachus and had a choice of which one to grade but the ironic part is this console was bought by someone at gamestop and then returned a few days later and I bought it. The box was immaculate!
I sent the item out April 11th and I used the lowest tier which cost $42. I paid for shipping both ways with my fedex account. I didnt receive my item until July 8th which felt really long. Also I am in Charlotte, NC so shipping is fast between atlanta, ga and NC.
I asked this in the past before we had this dedicated VGA thread, but I have an item I have been considering getting graded that I don't have much info on as far as being "new" or "sealed". It has very nice folds and everything, but the plastic itself is taped together with small pieces of scotch tape all around it. I haven't seen a VGA copy of this game so I was just wondering if it was worth sending off, or if there were a way to ask before bothering sending it as to whether or not it would be an eligible piece. I guess if nothing else it could be a qualified grade, but it would be nice to know if there were others graded as an authentic seal. Does anyone have any clue if this was actually shrinkwrapped, manually folded up, or never sealed to begin with?
The tape has collected some dust over the years and has yellowed a bit.
Hey, I have been thinking about sending in some stuff to VGA, but was wondering what kind of wait am I going to have to take? I have been checking other forums across the web and people are saying it's a longer wait than usual, can anyone tell me how far they are behind? I don't want to send in if I am going to have to wait 3 months. Thanks
If you send in the slowest tier, it's probably 2 months minimum. If you want faster you have to use the faster services, but even they are slipping behind schedule.
I shipped mine July 23rd and they received it July 26 and charged my card the full amount that day. The projected completion day is August 5th and they said it should ship between August 6th and 7th. That said I did Premium tier, because these were high dollar items. I'm pretty excited to get all these back.
I shipped them a bunch of stuff at the beginning of April. The higher end stuff that I paid more for came back quick within a few weeks, but then the other normal priced tier stuff still hasn't returned and it's been 4 months.
Very nice! I will be sending in my first submission this week and it will be two of these! Congrats on that grade!

Kind of some weird wear of this one, the cover art is too far down so it overlaps over the end of the case. Would this be a big deal? Anyone ever subbed something like that?
Greetings folks. I'd like to get you pro's opinion on whether this is a genuine sealed game or not. I picked it up awhile ago on eBay from a very reputable seller but I am still curious.
Also, I apologize for the size. I'm use to
[IMG][/IMG]
For anyone who's curious about VGA's current turnaround times, here is some data.
I had a standard tier submission of 4 games, all were standard size, due date of July 5. They shipped my games out on August 19, which means a delay of 5 weeks and 6 days.

Is it worth it getting this bad boy graded and what do you think I can score:

Personally, I think an awesome game like that is meant to be played and not sealed forever in a plastic casket... but... that's just me.
