FUCK FUCK FUCK the Global Shipping Program. Why the hell do sellers use it? I NEVER order stuff through it because the only time I did I had a game damaged about 3 years ago. Well, I bought a game the other day with some promo stuff and surprise, surprise; it showed up with a massive slice right across one of the items and near the top of the game case. So I'm official shooting two for two with this absolute scam of a system. It is ridiculous that they can get away with this service. You're basically giving Pitney Bowes custom fees to fuck your packages up. It was easy to tell that the person sliced right across the top 1/3 of the package with a knife to quickly open it.
I strongly warn anyone in Canada to avoid this program like the plague unless you want to pay to have your merchandise significantly damaged. Never again will I ever use this complete joke of a service. I've talked shit about it throughout my time her on NA when it comes up and this just cements my feelings towards this 'service'. Now the seller has to spend his time fixing a situation caused by this 3rd party. What a complete joke.
When does Ebay/Paypal stop withholding payments from buyers for that 21 day bullcrap? I'm at 42/42 positive feedback now, yet apparently I still don't have a 'successful eBay sales history'. Is there a magic number of feedback for them to cut it out? I know it'll free up and I'll get the funds in the next week, but I'm getting tired of this...

Is it Pitney Bowes that is responsibly for the packaging too?
I remember once I bought a game through the global shipping program and the game just came in a giant box with no padding inside. Really strange way of packaging it.
From what I could tell they cut open the bubble mailer about 1/3 of the way from the top, looked inside, and then taped it back up. Then they proceeded to cover the postage and customs form on the mailer with giant white stickers, printed off another shipping label with my address and sent it on its way. I honestly have no idea how they get away with this.
I will not buy from sellers that use the Global Shipping Programming. It is a racket itself, just a good way to pay higher shipping costs, bogus customs fees, etc.
It is interesting because I purchase items off of eBay all the time, from places such as South Africa, Argentina, and Poland to other countries such as Russia, Canada, Australia, Germany, etc. No one uses the global shipping program except for the USA, and likewise, no one really seems to have any problem shipping abroad except for Americans. To make things even more interesting, the only times I have had problems when shipping items to customers has been when I've shipped to the States. In one extreme situation (that turned out good in the end), a package ended up floating around the USA for around two or three months, before finally showing up at the customer's neighbor's house. Ugh, such incompetence.
Furthermore, from my experience, American customs are more likely to jump the gun and open claims, send messages asking where goods are after only a week in transit, etc. I never have this problem with the other foreign customers though. I guess because the USA is so big, so many things can be purchased from within the country without even having to dig out into the countries abroad, so we get spoiled, want items instantly, and also see no need to do business with the rest of the globe. Just my thoughts (as a fellow American), though I honestly still don't really get it.
Thrift Store in my area had Dick Tracy on the NES for $24.99. A full 10 dollars more than they had Mario 3, SMB/DH, and Bubble Bobble at. I got one good score at this place almost a year ago but I think it's time to take it out of the rotation.

lol, I bet they looked on amazon and saw a 25 dollar CIB or something. I wouldnt take it out of the rotation. Those are the places that make colossal mistakes in your favor.
You're right, it's too close to write off completely. I've got 5 different spots within 10 miles from me that I can hit up. I shouldn't really complain. I average out to at least one solid score a month.

A seller tried extorting me to give them positive feedback.
I ordered a desoldering iron/solder sucker and it arrived with the tip bent sideways. I instantly sent a message to the seller and they responded with this message.
Me- Dear cenn2010,
Hi I just got my item in the mail and it is damaged. I please ask for a replacement or a refund. As you see in the pics the end is bent. I also suggest shipping in a box instead of a bag
Them- So sorry to hear that, if so, how about we refund to you to solve it? If you agree, would you mind leaving a positive feedback for us?
Me- Dear cenn2010,
Do I need to return this item for the refund??? It has been a long time since I have had a item arrive damaged I ordered
Them-Thank you for your message, if you agree us refund to you, you needn't send it back to us.
If you have any other problem, pls feel free to contact us
I really had no clue what to do so I called ebay and they helped me out. They also told me the seller was trying to extort me.
I love when folks describe items as "in good shape" on Craigslist only to find out later that translates to "you won't be able to play it because it's internally fucked". Just added another hash mark to that list this morning!
I have been trying to sell an original xbox bundle for over a month now and I know xbox is not a hot system to collect for so I price my stuff fairly. The listing (console with 11 games and controllers) has sold every time, but is never paid for and I end up opening an unpaid case, winning, and then relisting it the next week to have it happen all over again. Apparently xbox stuff attracts brand new users who don't pay or answer my messages. I have set my buyer preferences as strict as I can, but I don't know if there's a way to block users with zero feedback. Is there?
Any ideas why this keeps happening with only xbox stuff for me?

I say, get your refund and leave a positive. As a Seller who makes a living on ebay, I can tell you that they can make it very difficult for you. Not only that but its very fair to ask for a positive feedback as I said, they could make this unpleasent if they want. I dont see this at all as an extortion appempt. Looks like a request to me. Personally, Im very careful about leaving negative or nuetral feedback as it could damage a persons account for an entire year, in more ways then one. Do you think they really deserve that kind of treatment? Food for thought.
Sending the item back used to be a hassle and cost you money because you had to pay for postage. Ebays policy changed and ebay now covers the return postage. Bag it up, print free postage and stick it in your mail box...Piece of cake!
That feel when a game you order is delivered and you use Cluster Mailboxes and the dumb ass postal carrier fucking leaves the damned parcel locker open.
LOL looks like it was my fault for not knowing how these damed cluster boxes operate and them using the same numbers for each tower.

As a seller, if I am refunding without even requiring a return, then I better damn well not get negged on top of it. If someone opens a case and I get a defect or leaves negative or low stars, they will have to send it back for me. This obviously wasnt on purpose and was an accident. If someone is offering you a refund for an accident and offering a refund without sending it back you should do that.
There was no need to get ebay involved andy. It sounds straight forward. You get a refund. Dont send it back and you go on with your life. He was asking you if you would leave positive feedback. Thats not that big of a deal. Ebay probably marked the guys account with a defect now for it, so its the same as a negative feedback anyway.
With business and selling things, there are always going to be times when mistakes occur, and problems happen. That is just a part of life. With Andy's situation, I don't think the guy was trying to extort feedback either. He just was doing the right thing to make up for the damaged item, and didn't want to be negged for it either, when in reality, it probably wasn't his fault to begin with.
To me, his customer service sounded great, and I think a bad product with great customer service deserves positive feedback more than a great product with little to no customer service.

I had a similar situation happen on Craigslist. I made a deal with a guy selling a laptop. We agreed on said deal, and set up a meetup spot that day. I even texted the guy to let him know I was currently leaving the house and how long it would take me to get there.
So, I get there, and wait. And wait. And wait. It's been about an hour, so I send the guy a message asking where he is. No answer. I ask again. He finally responds, and says he sold it to someone else. WTF.
According to eBay, even if you ship within 5 hours of being paid, buyer can still leave you a neutral if they don't like the speed in which the USPS delivers the package. Fuck eBay.

According to Ebay in a very condescending tone, " Maybe you should look into your current shipping providers and choose another option."
Brian Burke, "leader of the morons" at ebay. Priceless
I do free shipping on all items. I got sick of getting dinged for "charging too much for shipping" when I charged a flat rate that factored in the shipping and the packaging materials. Now I just add that price into my item and do "free" shipping.
Has anyone here tried selling DVDs lately online, lol? Amazon has decided to block just about all 3rd party listings in order to increase profits. Now I've got to take pictures of everything and deal with poor visibility issues over on ebay.
