  • Don’t even get me started on eBay. Instead A GOOD STORY.

a local video rental store has started selling used games. They used to have some 2-5$ NES carts by the register and that’s it. Now they got a case. Nothing amazing. They buy and trade as well. So I brought snes Donkey Kong Country and kablooey in to see what it was worth to em. Instead of pulling out there phone and looking at eBay listing (usually not even sold listings but bull shit high listings right? Mini bitch) anyway the kid opened up a book and then gave me 40$ worth of credit at the store!! Mistake?? I don’t know, but I got bible adventure for 4$ lolo for 4$ and a few sega titles too. It was refreshing. There’s a lot of game stores and fleamarkets here in the Bible Belt. But even grandma is hip to checking eBay for prices before handing over F-ing duck hunt.

I can't lift it so i would have had to get someone just to help me package it up, and then waited another week or two for the refund.

I wish they had just emailed me back though because i told them i would take a partial refund. Even though i asked for a substantial one, they could have at least gotten like 50% of their money back and both of us would have been happy with the outcome. Instead they just gave me all the money back? Weird business practice....o well i can't complain, i do feel bad though having all my money and a PVM that while does have functional damage, is still somewhat functional..

They probably had no use for a damaged PVM and would have thrown it out anyway I'm guessing.

  • So I have a CD-i lot I'm 99% sure I'm never going to get. The payment has been stuck "in processing" for almost a month now. The low-feedback seller doesn't respond to most messages and I got one assurance that it would ship "tomorrow" some week or two ago. I'm planning on opening an Ebay case as soon as it lets me. Any weird scam going on with this payment stuck in processing?

Have the funds disappeared from your account?  "in processing" usually means that payment either hasn't been/can't be pulled from the source originally provided (which will usually result in near immediate calls, emails, etc.), the recipient hasn't accepted funds yet or the recipient's account is on some sort of hold so funds could have been pulled from the original source but not depositd in the recipient's account yet.  If you don't have the money in your account anymore, it's most likely one of the other two things I've listed.  With everything generally going through PayPal, I would just give them a call and see if they can't tell you what's up, as they're going to be the ones letting eBay know if/when something has been processed.
  • I bought an expensive game on eBay last week with the 20% off coupon. The seller told me that oops, the price is actually $300 more than I paid, please pay the difference or I will cancel. I've been watching this item for at least a couple of months at the purchase price, but nope, a few hours after I buy it, that price was wrong. So no game and no 20% discount. It's been three days and I'm still pissed about it.

Wow, I got pretty irritated just by reading that.  Sorry you had to go through that.  Ugh ...

  • So I just requested a total for two items that came to $41.55 if I just clicked "Buy It Now". The seller responded with an invoice for total of $44.40....

    ....what?!!?!

Update. Seller refuses to cancel order or lower invoice price. so he is trying to make me pay more money that if I just clicked Buy it Now. So absurd. I'm not going to pay the guy. Anyone know the consequences?

    Edit: He canceled it. Phew.

Absolutely awful! I'd be furious.   Strike the negative for that seller. Was the game actually underpriced, or is that just BS talk?

The seven-day wait to neg is almost over.

At one point not long ago, there were at least three copies of this game all around the same price that I paid.  Those are all now either gone or have had price increases.  None of them have showed up in the sold listings either.  It could be that it's in higher demand now, or some one (or some group) is trying to do some price-hike shenanigans.  Looks like I got in at exactly the wrong time, either way.  Of course the seller shouldn't have screwed me over in the first place.

  • That coupon has been a bit of a curse. I bought several different items with it; one came in broken (as in no way it worked before it was shipped) and one came in damaged from USPS. Another item had unspecified damage on it too. So only one of the four large ticket items I bought was 100% golden.
  • I don't follow. Isn't the 20% taken out of eBay's end? Why would you have any issues? The seller's shouldn't know you are getting a discount.

Yeah, eBay covers it and the seller has no idea.  It was just coincidence that some of us had problems buying things with the discount.

  • Ah, okay.
  • I purchased something on eBay on the 11th. A shipping label was created on the 20th. And as of today it still hasn't shipped. I try to be easy going when it comes to buying stuff online but this one really annoys me. Almost 2 weeks and they haven't even shipped it yet. Is it my responsibility to send a message and ask if it's been shipped or when it would be shipped? If this person had stuff going on and messaged me to say it's going to be a little bit, I'd be fine with that. Just no contact and not shipping for 2 weeks annoys the hell out of me. At first I was thinking about just not leaving feedback but I'm actually leaning toward a negative if I receive the item now.

Did the listing state "The seller will be away until 'X'"? Check their shipping times as I have seen some sellers state "We only ship out once a week." It also depends on where they are as sometimes people get snowed in and don't ship out until everything is up and running. I would have messaged them by now if there was no explanation as to why it had not shipped by now. Remember, it is on them to add tracking. Just politely message them and see what the hold up is.

  • Nothing on the listing that says they won't be able to ship until a certain time. It is on the other side of the country. Probably one of the places that is snowing heavily, I guess. I did also notice another of this item was sold the same day as my shipping label was created. There were only 2 people listening this particular item at the time. Got a sneaking suspicion the person realized they did not have said item and bought one to send. I could just be reaching.

More just venting and see what other people would do in the situation. I'll probably give it until Monday and then maybe I'll just go ahead and message to see what's up. I guess NA has just spoiled me this last year or so with great communication and fast shipping.
  • I would definitely send an email asking when they plan to ship. I would keep it polite for now. I often find that a simple email sometimes kicks their butt into gear. Maybe they truly forgot. It's certainly not great customer service, but if you remind them, it might be enough to get it in the mail tomorrow.

    Yeah exactly!

But if they did a partial refund they wouldn't get the PVM back. I would still keep it. And in turn they would give me a partial refund of 50% which is what i would have settled for considering the damage. They could have recouped at least half of the funds that way. But instead they ignored my offer for taking a partial refund and just gave me all of it back instead and told me to keep the PVM. Made no sense, but i am not complaining.

Guarantees your 100 percent satisfaction that way (you have all your money back plus an item you may be able to use).   Maybe they were concerned about feedback?

Honestly I would probably do the same thing for something that isn't in the wheelhouse of what I usually sell.

  • Fedex is killing me this week. My Fedex package requires an in person signature and they won't let me sign a slip, hold it for pickup, or reshedule delivery for some reason (all grayed on the website). So after missing it 2 days in a row, I stayed home from work today, only to learn that there was apparently a "delivery exception" at 5am this morning and now it's coming Saturday. What the hell Fedex, why do I have to move my life around to get a damn package from you?
  • If you're looking for an RGB modded PC Engine, I'd skip 8bitterz. Sounded like a good deal - came with the SCART cable, power supply, and all sorts of other things, like the jailbar fix and a sync stripper. When I received it, the system would not even keep sync. I later found out it was the power supply. Using a Genesis model 1 supply fixed it, the includes one was garbage. But then there was this ridiculous audio hum, as well as major jailbars. I opened the unit and scart cable and found that there was no sync stripper, there was no jailbar fix done, and the cable wasn't even shielded. The plug was also wired strangely, so I'd have to make a custom cable to fix that. I ended up returning it because I don't want to give business to a liar.
  • Just a quick rant. On eBay, I won a collectors edition box and the seller sent it in a bubble mailer   Needless to say, the box came kinda smashed. I was able to make it look a little bit better with some elbow grease. However, the front upper right hand corner of the box has a pernament 1 inch crease along with the lower left hand corner. I have the seller 48 hours to respond to my message. I heard absolutely nothing so I left a less than favorable feedback for them. Who ships a collectors edition box in a bubble mailer without any added protection. As soon as I pulled it from the mailbox I knew it wouldn't be good.
  • Me: "This is my item for sale. It is missing this thingy right here. Also, here is a picture of the thingy it is missing. It is the second of only 2 pictures on this listing."

    *ONE SALE LATER*

Idiot: "I want a refund because this item is missing the thingy."
  • SO SAD RIGHT NOW.

Bought an Amiibo Kiosk seller accepted my offer. The next day no message or anything. The second day which is today, refund is issued through Paypal without a message on eBay and note saying someone broke into his house and stole the kiosk.

Hard to believe that is true. Probably got cold feet and decided to keep it.

Another seller said the same thing last week stating someone stole a standee from his front porch and refunded me.

If they are telling the truth, then so sorry for them and some people do suck, but it's just frustrating wanting to get something imagining it in your room and all and your spirit is broken.

Anyone else had these reasons for cancellation as well?
  • No exactly the same, but a few years ago I was bidding on a couple of lots of CIB Genesis games from the same seller, and managed to get one with a minimum bid. Two days later the guy messaged me to say that he had definitely dropped it off but USPS just plain lost it. Never provided a tracking number so it seemed pretty hard to believe. I ended up winning the 2nd lot and managed to convince him to just discount that one by the price of the first one. Worked out pretty well because the first lot was mostly sports games and the second one had some really good stuff like Phelios and Wings of Wor.
  • direct correlation in tax refund season and absolute idiotic moron buyers

Words cant express the stupidity of the inbox message I got today. When idiots get disposable income and go on ebay.

On top of that message an already picky person that apparently bought a manual and it had some minor variant difference from a quantity listing of a manual that is 3.50 free shipping. Dear jesus frustrating
