So I'm trying to make some money so I can buy some presents and games, and ebay won't let me fucking post more than $500/10 items/4 games each month! HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO PROVIDE FOR EVERYBODY MAN I AM A GENEROUS PERSON PLEASE EBAY SEE THIS AND FUCK YOU.
Not really but like I am kinda pissed off at the seller limits man.
Miguel: Who would tell someone the value of the game like Earthbound? Two types. Someone honest, and someone knowing they weren't first and are going to make sure you're 'honest' with the seller too. Personally I've done it once before, situation was a bit different, and in the end I ended up buying the special game (mega man x3) and I still got a whole gaming package for $150 with it included because I was honest. 3 others called before me and offered $10 on MMX3 calling it a good deal, I let the guy know what it went for on ebay, he was so appreciative I got it as listed on CL and that was like 4-5mo ago.
Yellow: They do that to new people, it expires over time and usage, just don't remember the limits as I never dealt with them as I signed onto ebay when it went live 15 years ago.
If the seller is only asking a certain price i dont usually say anything,I bought a nice snes lot about a year ago with evo both lufia games, earthbound, some mario games, and a few others, they were asking 25.00,I paid 25.00,They said they were just going to go to goodwill anyway.
The seller wanted $125.99 OBO so I offered $110 for it. He, I guess, wanted to counter $121.99 but typed $21.99 and submitted it. So I accepted and paid for it and then he messaged me back and said "Oops! I made a typo, meant to type $121.99. Just give me the difference between what you paid, and your best offer and the game is your's."

Not your fault he screwed up. Technically you are in the right on this one. That's something I'm anal about checking if I allow Best Offers, which is rare anymore for this exact reason. Just a heads up, I noticed now when leaving feedback for buyers there is a Report Buyer button. Anyone had to use that yet?

This is a great "what would you do" example. Technically he made you the offer of $21.99, but I think we all know what the..."good" thing to do would be in this scenario. In a situation like this where it was clearly a mistake and you already offered $110, it would seem fair to me to pay at least $110. I know it is the seller's fault, so I guess I understand the mentality of making him pay for the mistake, but I do think it helps to try to look at these things with the "how would I want to be treated" mentality.
If someone made a post on NA from the other perspective explaining the mistake, I would bet most people would say....negative things about the buyer. I'm not saying you're horrible for doing what you did - I'm sure we have all benefited from others' mistakes, but I really think this is a situation where you should pay more to the seller. Just my thoughts.

Well I left out the ending on purpose, so people could use their imagination. I was curious if people would flame me for trying to get a practical steal on a valuable SNES rare. Well, in the end, I did just pay him the difference between $21.99 and $110, and he sent me the game. I'm too much of a nice guy.

Hahahah - that's funny. I'm glad to hear the outcome
You have to admit - it sure seemed to insinuate you didn't pay the difference even though you didn't say it
Well, hopefully you didn't see my particular post as flaming --- I was trying to be reasonable about it and share my opinion. I was sincere when I said it is a great "what would you do" type of situation - because I actually imagine many people wouldn't end up paying more, and would just get away with it. I'd do a poll on what people would do, but I'd be skeptical of the honest answers, haha.

Hehe, no I didn't think you were flaming. I just wanted to get some legit reactions before I said the outcome, and I agreed with what you said, which is why I paid the guy the difference. Another reason I paid was because I had considered that at the time it was the cheapest BIN price for harvest moon, and the guy may have been able to just refund me my $21.99 and cancel the auction. And I really wanted the game...
Do you have them around you place? There's also Skylanders predatory resellers as well, but parents and what not have been combating them with harsh words from what my friend tells me. I don't like pre ordering, it takes the fun out of camping out the night before
I think I may have a problem with an ebay auction that ended some time ago. The auction was for 3 airsoft guns and the guy paid $400 shipped. I shipped the guns to him with D/C but I guess since October 31 when the auction ended, I lost the D/C number. Now he keeps messaging me asking for the D/C number, almost 3 weeks later. I don't have it, and I think either he is trying to scam me, or someone stole it off his doorstep (he lives in miami). What should I do if he files a claim?
You should find your delivery confirmation number ASAP so you can prove it was delivered. He may not be scamming you if he didn't receive the item.
Since the item was over $250, hope you used Signature Confirmation instead of Delivery Confirmation to be eligible for Paypal's Seller Protection. Otherwise if he files a claim you may be SOL.
Follow up: I found the delivery confirmation number, and it says it was delivered on the 6th. What do I do if he files a claim now?
There'\s only one thing you can do really, post the number, proving it was successfully delivered to the address of his paypal account and wait.I dunno what will happen next, I had a guy send me star wars battle front, scratched game with french manual and fake cover art instead of Shin Megami Tensei Digital Devil Saga, he had a tracking number though. I filed a case and eventually won, but he didn't respond to the case, you would, so it may be different. Ebay is a tricky thing.
I'm hoping he doesn't turn around and say "Oh I actually do have the guns but they dont work" And then ask for a refund 20 days after successful delivery.
I am getting sick of merchandise chargebacks. Im going to loses 360 dollars to a thief and theres nothing I can do about it. Apparently merchandise not as described chargebacks are an impossible task to win for a seller. The credit card company has all the power in it. This should be illegal. The jackass scammer lost his ebay case with me because he sent me junk in return, after even failing to meet ebays buyer obligations to send it back. Did all this after the fact. Now his account was even removed from ebay. He was freaking banned, but paypal doesnt care. Then opens a paypal case chargeback for merchandise not as described which paypal will remove and seller protection in this case and will not cover it. This is straight up theft. I just cant believe it. This shit is so illegal. Paypal offers zero protection to sellers ...none at all. Also got two disputes over international non receipt. Sent them priority mail with tracking. 1 is attempting to redeliver. It was apparently a wrong address on their end. That is not my fault. Secondly another one is just an impatient person who I also sent priority shipping with tracking. Paypal took these two transactions out of my account( 96 dollars and 167 dollars respectively) on top of the 360 chargeback they took away. This is getting dumb quick. Paypal is destined for a lawsuit. This shit should be illegal. It is actually illegal for them to hold my money for more than 10 days without resolution in the state of texas. Have to serve them a subpoena and see them in court over it though and by that time the money will be resolved.

quest, with all the shit you have gone thru(you post here a lot lol) are you getting away from the eBay game? you either have terrible luck, or Ebay/paypal is just that bad.

Credit card chargebacks are between the credit card company and Paypal. They process for them to be resolved is notoriously slow (up to 90 days) and your money will be held in the meantime while it is being investigated. There is nothing illegal about it.
You need to make sure that Paypal has all the proof they need to defend the chargeback against the credit card company. Paypal will tell you what documentation you need to fax to them, what kind of information and evidence they will need for your case. They may want pictures or serial numbers or something else. If items were stolen from you, you will need to file a police report and send the affidavit to Paypal for the case irregardless of the buyer "failing to meet ebays buyer obligations to send it back." There is a procedure they have for this, I am surpsied that they did not tell you this if you contacted them, but it almost sounds like you have not contacted them yet and are reacting emotionally to the situation.
I had a buyer try to scam me out of $20k of test equipment in a similar way a few years ago. It was very stressful at the time, but I made sure that I gave Paypal all the information they asked for and the chargeback was eventually cancelled. I never knew what happened to the buyer, but I do keep an eye out for the serial numbers of the equipment to see if it ever turns up.
As for your non-receipts, you are responsible for the items until they are delivered to the buyer. If you sent the items with tracking, then you should be in the clear once they are marked as delivered.
If you are running a business, and to me it sounds like you are, then you may have to account for the occasional loss of an item. Sometimes shit happens and mail gets lost. That's life.
Why don't you sell things in the forum here? I'm certain that there are collectors here that would give you less hassle than people on eBay?

believe me, i know how all of it works. everything you said is something I already did. I know how it works better than most. and yes merchandise chargebacks for not as described should be illegal for online sales. those are handled through the merchant sites. Chargebacks should be for non receipt or unauthorized payment. and you dont get it, what paypal does to me is illegal. They cant hold my money for more than 10 days since I live in Texas but to get it back you have to take them to court and by that time the process is over.
and I get more money from people online. People here wont pay 50-60 percent of what I get there. No offense to this site as its great, but people here are cheap and want deals like I or a colletor would. people on here confuse prices for what they would pay vs what someone else would pay.
And with the other two non receipt disputes yes its my responsibility to make sure they get it, but when the tracking says attempted delivery wrong address....that is not my fault. 160 bucks paypal is going to give that buyer without me for sure getting it back. So im out shipping on something their fault. The other says it cleared customs. They are being lazy asses and not delivered and need to go pick up the package
and this is the ebay rant thread so yeah i post here alot because I sell more than most, and have experience more types of problems then others on here. Its evident not many people on here know how of the dispute shit works because people are baffled and offer suggestions on what I should do, but they are 6 steps behind what I have already done.
Follow up: I found the delivery confirmation number, and it says it was delivered on the 6th. What do I do if he files a claim now?
I wouldn't tell him you have the DC #, if you respond to him just say you are unable to locate it right now. If he opens a claim for item not recieved all you have to do is provide the DC #. If you tell him you have the DC then he might open a SNAD then you are fuct.
Dammit I hate shill bidders. There was a auction for a rare game I was watching all week, the auction went under a lot of peoples radar probably because of Thanksgiving and Black Friday. There was only one other bidder on the game before I placed my bid, and then after I placed it an account with zero feedback outbids me, and when looking at this accounts bid history this was the only auction they bid on. So that has me to believe this person was shill bidding. But the jokes on them, the seller being a greedy asshole like that just killed a potential sell, because I'm not bidding again.

This is a great "what would you do" example. Technically he made you the offer of $21.99, but I think we all know what the..."good" thing to do would be in this scenario. In a situation like this where it was clearly a mistake and you already offered $110, it would seem fair to me to pay at least $110. Just give me the difference between what you paid, and your best offer and the game is your's."

Yup, predatory reseller. Hopefully he gets what's coming to him eventually.

Talk about a power reseller to front $15k+. I do speculation trading quite often, but not that stupidly.
I woke up at 10 am this morning to see no less than a dozen different Wii U threads on Craigslist.

I've had a standard website with them for over a year
I tried a "eshop" that was a 30 day trial 2 weeks later I canceled, didn't like it.
They entered me into a year contract anyway at $11/month
We I called they said thay had no record of cancelation and I'm under contract and cannot cancel but I could email the complaint department.
Total scam, reminds me of AOL back in the day.
Lesson learned, record and keep cancelation numbers, that might have helped if I could produce that.
I canceled my autodraft from paypal and moving to Moonfruit which is free.

(well,paypal has always sucked)

I wouldn't tell him you have the DC #, if you respond to him just say you are unable to locate it right now. If he opens a claim for item not recieved all you have to do is provide the DC #. If you tell him you have the DC then he might open a SNAD then you are fuct.
