  • Here's a Front/Back of Uncle Tusk's Earthbound repro box, normal SNES box size

  • Herp a derp derp, bid on auction for two days, win auction, pay for auction, send message several minutes after paying, "hurr durr, I can't afford this right now, please refund and cancel!"

    .....
  • I have a rant about one of my biggest pet peeves - wasting my time. This can apply to Craigslist and other forums, but I've had it happen a few times here at NA. Example: Person A is interested in buying bulk lots of Nintendo 64 games and wants conditions/prices on what I have to offer. I go through each game and rate them on a 10 point scale. This takes 45 minutes. We then go back and forth for awhile only to find out he's too tight on money to buy anything. OK so that was a complete waste of an hour. (probably more...)

I should have learned from this but then once again, trying to make a deal with someone on a trade. I go fetch games and conditions, and it doesn't work out. Another 45 minutes or more wasted. With two jobs I value my time and I hate wasting it. I guess the lesson I need to learn is, unless if I already have what they want typed up in a list, don't waste my time until I definitely know their budget and/or what they truly value their items at. Not my best rant ever but I just needed to get that off of my chest.

PS- eBay sucks. I've had 5 non-paying bidders in my last 15 auctions. Ridiculous.
  • on ebay dont let people off the hook. non pay case them and strike them

  • So over Vinnies and the Salvos in my area. They are called charitable organisations and collect donations but eBay most of their stock or get a collector to value it and charge double what it is actually worth. They should be called second hand dealers instead.

I have and I do. Seems like they never get banned though... how many strikes until they're out?

I have had this happen on NA and a few other places as well, but mostly here, unfortunately. For me, it is people who inquire and want to see (more pictures).  After taking more pictures, we go back and forth a bit, until I hear nothing from them.  Sometimes, they will later have the courtesy to tell me that they have no money or have changed their minds, while other times I hear nothing at all.  Hell, one time I even asked my mom to take pics of a game for me (because it is at her house and not with me), and I even told the potential buyer of this, and yet I still hear nothing back at the end of the day.  So not only did they waste my time, but my mom's time as well...grrr.  Now I know why Dreamtr used to hate taking pictures for potential buyers of prototypes back in the day, too many people just want to see the goods for curiosity sake and what not, but don't actually want to buy it...

    This is the worst!

I took a dozen pictures for a NA member, only to have him tell me that he was 'only 15' and didn't have the money right now.

  • I haven't sold much here but when people ask me for more pics, I know it's rude but I just ignore them. Now on ebay if someone ask me nitpicky questions I block them immediately.
  • BTW: vintage gaming are very few and very far between in my city. This weekend I went to a gsale and see an SNES controller. Price......$20 but the guy said I could have it for $10. wtf.
  • lol thats when i tell them, "you know this is a garage sale right, if you want that price just try and sell your stuff online, people dont come here to spend 10 dollars for a controller"
  • look guys! an item from the late sixties or seventies! only fifty bucks!

This is why I've been sticking to short text descriptions with prices lately; nine times out of ten a buyer who wants too many reassurances is going to fart around until their interest in making the purchase has passed. I've noticed it too selling NES systems on craigslist, some people will want pics and guarantees-- not realizing I can just go to the next person in line and make the sale to a non-doubting type.

Usually the only time I take pics is when I'm ready to clearance a bulk lot or when I'm auctioning a CIB. By only taking pics for items that seem to need it, much time can be saved.
  • I sent this guy an email asking what GameCube games he had and how much he wanted for them. He sends me a reply email saying I would have to buy everything listed, he wasn't going to break it up. WTF is wrong with people? Well uh, um...good luck dude.

  • Craigslist seller has an ad up for a "Never Been Used Action Set" for 350$ It comes with Legend of Zelda, Mike Tyson's Punch Out, Spy Hunter, Super Mario Brothers (stand alone title not including duck hunt), Kung-Fu, Ice Hockey, Baseball, Golf, Rescue:The Embassy Mission, Bad Dudes, and Tag Team Wrestling. The games are all loose.

I replied to the ad and asked him the story of how he got it and what not. He bought it all from a man who just had it laying around. Am I really supposed to believe some old dude had an Action Set in his closet that hasn't seen any action?! Especially with 11 games not in boxes? Anyways, I offered the dude $120 for it and he shot me down. BOOOOOOO

Lol, i literally turned down a sale from EBGames for this same reason! i mean it was a pokemon heartgold and they really didn't need to remove the seal from the game to display the big box thats not attached to the game? And then he said i wouldn't find another one anywhere. told him wal-mart stocks them and went there =p

  • I've heard people say that you can now see how many people are watching a certain ebay auction. How exactly does one do this?
  • i know you can see how many people are watching as a seller, not sure as a buyer

They used to have it display near the bidding price, but I think they may have done away with that feature.

It was during the new eBay layout... lasted for 2-3 weeks tops.  As a seller it was awesome... when people saw other people were watching your auction / BIN listing, they clicked the BIN.  As a buyer it was frustrating... you knew exactly how many were watchin your "under the radar" listing and you lost all hopes of getting a deal.

Lol and we all know if every single potential buyer is not 100 percent happy then ebay caboshes the idea

  • Got a gift card from my girlfriends parents for christmas from Gamestop. Decided to pickup some older PS2 titles since they were having a buy one get one free at gamestop.com. After they finally arrive I open the package and get a bunch of disc only games and a destroyed Castlevania box. Sadly, I was kind of expecting it since thats how they were selling their PS2 games 6 months ago when they were clearing them out, but a small part of me was hoping that their distribution centre might have the cases there. I emailed them a few days ago complaining about it with no reply so their customer service is being crap too. I figure they will offer me a refund and I'll have to go return the stuff, which kind of sucks since it's some decent stuff, but I'm not a huge fan of disc only, and they were purchased with a gift card, so I'll get store credit, and don't really play my newer consoles and don't often buy things for them

Ordering online from GS is tricky; I've only done it when I've had some inside knowledge of PS2 reprints being shifted over to Pre-Owned. Another thing that can help is see if they have the game instore, that'll give you a switch-out option if the condition of your online item is bad.
  • Fucking stupid people on Kijiji who don't read ads before replying to them. I have some boxes for N64 games I'm trying to sell and I've gotten multiple replies asking if the games are included. If I have an ad that specifically has "BOXES" in the title and mentions nothing but boxes in the ad, do not ask if the game is included, I would have mentioned a game in the ad if it was. Stupid fucks really piss me off on Kijiji sometimes, especially people who reply to my ad inquiring about games that aren't even listed, "do you have black ops 2 for PS3?" No dude, this is a fucking ad for retro Nintendo games...

You know, I think 75-100 would be a fair craigslist price for a loose NES, twenty commons and a world class track meet mat. I mean, this guy does have Contra, Super Contra and all three SMB's so maybe he could get 120-150 on a really good day on Ebay? But this guy says, "Make me a realistic offer over $200".

Crap like this is why I usually don't even bother going through craigslist ads.

  • Claims it will probably be the biggest NES bundle you'll find online or locally. This guy should do stand up.
  • Ebay tip for my international buyers: if you ask me or mention first class international shipping, your message is deleted. I probably will quote you that price. But since you know what it is and ask for it specifically you arent buying my stuff.

What was this in response to? I'm actually dealing with some jackass from Germany right now through Ebay in regards to items he claims to have never received which were sent international first class mail.

Agreed. These people see a NES with a rare game sell for a lot on ebay, then they'll automaticly think any NES system is worth that. It's sad that so many people now selling retro games locally are under the impression it's all rare and expensive.
