Some douche is trying to get me on for an "item not as described" case. My question is, can Ebay force me to refund money even though I have a "No Returns" policy stated in the listing? Buyer says the disc is scratched, but also says that it is 100% working. Do these things ever get settled in the seller's favor?
Here's the listing. the item meets every critieria of "Very Good" condition.
From what I know ebay can make you to take the return even if No Returns is your policy; probably what the buyer is going to do is switch out a scratched disc of theirs. Either that or maybe they burned the game, or have buyer's remorse. Here's a quote from the Ebay Buyer Protection Policy:
"If you received an item that wasn’t as described, we’ll typically help you return it to the seller first and then refund you."
Great, so in the meantime I get to sit and wait to be fucked out of $33. So say they do ship it back and it's damaged/unplayable, is there any recourse? Can I file a claim to retain the payment?
The buyer has to send it back to you in the exact same shape as they received it. If it wasn't scratched and you get it back and now it is then you can reopen the dispute claiming they damaged it. I have had a couple cases where I sent out a perfect game they claim that it wasn't working, Open a case and then when I get it back it was literally destroyed. I contacted eBay and they reversed their decision.
I freakin cant stand people that cant get cartridges to work when buying from me. I always test them and picture then loaded up when I picture them. Thats to reassure me and the buyer, mainly me that I know it works and there werent issues.
Freakin noob ass buyers. Hate the word noob but I dont know what else to call them always, " I cant get this to game to work. You said it worked. Im extremely upset because every other game I have 10 bajillion work just fine. What are you going to do."
ughhhh it works. Just blow in it or use a qtip. I check pins before I ship to make sure none are dirty. Usually clean them when testing and picturing anyway.
Saw an awesome craigslist troll I missed from yesterday and the day before (updated their post 23 hours after the fact.)
Supposed old granny finds Flintstones Dino Peak in her attic along with 4 other unnamed games. Says she knows what it's worth from research online that it's $600-700, but as she's computer illiterate and her niece or something is posting, she'll just take $250 or best offer. Pretty dumb and easy troll if it's still up this long. I wrote it on a whim saying uninterested in that, would help to sell it, more curious what the other four are some hours ago, curious to see what stupid comment comes back.
The next time I see a listing on Ebay with the title "Rare N64 Game. Great condition!!", click on it, and it is Super Mario 64, I am going to have a fucking fit.
Finally snagged a Star Ocean: Till the End of Time 2 disc box set on ebay for $5 plus 5 to ship. It was in Like New condition so I was really excited. It arrived today in not like new condition.
It was put in a bubble mailer first of all, but there is a nice big tear on the front of the box, some creasing to the sides, and to top it off, wait for it... IT IS A PREVIOUS RENTAL!
Fuck people, what do you not understand about the words "Like New"? I'm only returning it if the seller pays for it back because I intended to keep it based off the description and am not wasting more money getting it back to this asshat. Seriously guys, this is just stupid.

I feel you Quest. If I take the time to clean the pins, take pictures of it clearly working on my machine, then the problem is probably you, and your dirty machine.

Tell me about it, the last 3 "like new" games I bought were 1 very good and 2 good. I didn't leave them feedback but one of them asked me for feedback. Was ganna leave them a neutral but just decided against it. I did leave a neutral to some dude on half that had the game as very good but that game came so fucken beat to shit was an acceptable at best. I don't know why people ask for feedback that's just asking for trouble.

I just don't know what goes through peoples heads when they're listing the condition. Is anything below like new not work or something? Guy has a no return policy but something will be returned because I was lied to. Same day my Metroid Prime Trilogy arrived, which was also listed as "Like New" and damn was it. I can't think of anything less than a 10/10 for it, it's beautiful, wish I could say the same for Star Ocean though. Anything I list is in acceptable condition unless I know for a fact it can be viewed as anything better. Even if it's in very good condition, I'll still do acceptable because I know there's someone out there that will disagree.
I'll probably get burned eventually but I use good even on a loose game if it is in GOOD shape or even fantastic shape. It would have to have some scratches into the plastic or something wrong with the label for me to use acceptable as I don't like sticking a good 8-9/10 level quality condition game into acceptable along with the other unpolished turds.
The eShop is such a friggin' joke. Why price most of the VC games at £5.39?! If they were £4.99 I'd be more than happy to buy four games, but at £5.39 each I'll buy none as I refuse to be left with an near-unusable amount of £3.83.
I'll often list games as one grade lower than what they are on ebay. In a way it sucks being in competition with sellers who overgrade their items, but on the other hand my diarrhea levels of text description are usually a great equalizer.
"Game is an 8.2 out of 10. Has the dust mote of an animal cracker on the back lower right hand corner of case. Third level will teach you everything you need to know about love and friendship. Game manual has an ink-free pen indent in the four o'clock position which resembles a swirly straw. Includes the phone number of a girl I once knew on the invoice. Packaging supervised by a cat in a paws-free environment."
This isn't so much of a rant, just found it interesting and a first for me. I went to a new thrift store in my area (opened about a week ago) and looked around a bit. Saw a PS2 with 1 controller and hookups. I checked the tag and it said "$20" and beside that it said "$18 - $30 on eBay". First time I have come across that, anyone else?
I see goodwill do it on anything of stronger perceived value which usually would be video games, sports items, and a few other screwy things. They'll find some random asking post online that seems in the middle or high end of 'asking' not necessarily paying and writing on it with circles around the price saying 'goes for this on ebay' when it hasn't even 'went' and is still going (nowhere.) I see that, I walk away every single time.
I know what you mean and I see that too, but this is the first time I have seen price tags with "what it sells on eBay for" on the tag with the price. But yea it seems like now anything they think might have a chance to be worth something gets marked pretty high.

I know it might be a sales tactic used in supermarkets, if you see Tastykakes on sale for $1.89 / regular $4.49 you might be more included to think that you're getting a deal. I don't know why Goodwill would bother on a PS2 though, since $20 isn't an unusual price one way or the other (what would be more strange is if they actually tested the console to work, haha).

Which eShop? The Wii U one? I only remember the one on Wii, which was pretty close to the dollar amont (At least here in the US iicr). If they're making it to where you're having left over unspendable money, it's probably so that they want to make you want to buy more points cards or something, thus giving them more money.
I gave up giving feedback on buyers until they give me some or I never get it, has been that way a very long time. It also kind of fears(or not) them into not being jerks as I can still write a comment even if they took my (should be) right to give a grade.
I don't see them going away unless somehow a large exodus of people consistently just keep peeling away to a similar site with nicer terms that could get started and not choked out by ebay in the process.
So pissed!!! I pre-ordered Batman Arkham Origins months and months ago from Futureshop. With previous pre-orders I usually get an email saying it shipped out a few days before release and this time I didnt get one. So I give them a call to see whats up and they tell me that they don't have stock. I talk to one lady and absolutely berate Futureshop (not her, I told her multiple times that it wasnt her) and ask to speak with her manager. So I talk to her and I ask her what is futureshops definition of a pre-order and then I give her my definition and tell her its absolutely ridiculous that they wouldn't order enough stock to fulfill the order. I get the usual customer service BS and how they're sorry. Well, sorry doesnt give me my game I was planning to play all weekend. What the fuck is a pre-order for if not to be assured getting the game.
Yeah I know I can go pick it up anywhere but I had ordered it with the E3 promotion for $39.99.
This is bullshit. I just remembered how checking buyer history had save me from fraud about 15 times or since I started ebay. Not much in the grand scheme of things but still. I also would go to the big sellers and check who negged them and checked how many people they negged to see if I would add them to my block list. I've built up quite the list.
Ebay is trying to hard to be like amazon but ebay was built on the premise of a community of buyers and sellers. But not seems that cheap chinese shit rules there.
You guys should really look into selling on amazon. Yeh the buyer will always be right(it's worse than ebay on there)but that happens less frequently than on ebay. BTW lgeos don't sell on amazon I got sets that just sit there, they go faster on ebay.
Some type of social media site will take out ebay's and amazon's secondary market.
If facebook (which currently has a large user base) put money into developing some sort of marketplace, forget about it the big boys are done. But they better hurry up our ADD society is already looking for the next best thing.

Another awesome step by ebay to fuck sellers.
There is no reason to leave buyer feedback. You are just wating your time.

Also, a rarity chart for grey versions of n64 games would be awesome. All I found is just a variant chart, not really documenting rarity for each one.
