Got dinged with a $17 duty fee today on a $50 item. I'm pretty much done buying from the States, it's just too expensive. I guess in ways I'm lucky since this is the first random fee I've had to pay and it was on a relatively cheap item. If this was on a higher end purchase I would have been furious. Having said all that I either need to get an address in Maine or buy within Canada. Shipping, exchange rate, and random handling/duty fees are out of hand.
I'm sick of getting bombarded on ebay (as the seller) from buyers/people commenting on how my items for sale are priced too high or "who the hell do I think I am to rip people off with prices like that?" Anyone else get this?
I know the obvious follow up question to me is, "well how high are your prices?" But I don't think that really matters. Who the hell cares what someone prices things? Just purchase elsewhere. I can't believe how many people go out of there way to insult me about something so minor.
For the record, I'm not asking $20 for sm/dh. If I have something rare, I set the price at the highest sold auction and go from there.
I used to argue with people, but now I don't worry about it as much. Just felt like complaining today as another wave of emails came in.

See if you can hookup with a reputable NA'er in Maine. Maybe someone would be nice enough to harbor your packages for you?

That'd be pretty sweet if I could do that. I'd even let them play the games in the mean time
"I don't no what happened my apt number wasn't on the package so it got sent back to you can you please intercept before it gets all the way back to you it's a birthday present for my 5 year old next Saturday thanks"
Responded with this:
"I would love to intercept the package, but that is not how the post office works. I shipped to the address that you have on file and I just double checked and you still have the same address on file with no apt number. Now if you mean next Sat. being the 16th, then I will probably get the package back and be able to re-ship before then. If that is what you would like me to do you need to fix your address on file with Ebay. If you mean next Sat. being the 9th then I will be able to give you a full refund once the item returns back and hopefully you can find another birthday present for your child. Sorry for the inconvenience, please let me know what you would like to do."
Got this today:
"This is not at all what it looks like in the picture it is old and over used didn't even come with a charger. I bought this for my son as a gift I can't give this to him I will be sending back for a full refund. I already contacted eBay this is wrong I can't believe you tried to sell me this for 26 bucks. Rip off. I'm very upset. Now I don't have a gift for my sons birthday Saturday and I'm on disability I can't afford to go out an buy something else. Very very upset."
Weird, and who cares if she's on disability. It's her responsibility when buying to ask questions and get what you deserve to get. I can see some button and frame wear on it, but it doesn't look bad so she's either blind or has other motives.

I had someone email me one of those messages on Amazon. I sent them an awesome message back explaining why some games cost more than others; the mix of the content of the game, the experience individuals had w it in the past and of course the games rarity. Customer service is my last name.
So annoyed, just received a big bundle of PS1 games and thhe guy forced me to pay another shipping method because he was too lazy to go down an extra block to save me $4. Well I get the games today and the rarest game "Tombi" valued at $100 has the wrong disc in it. I just e-mailed the guy and I highly doubt I'll get my money nor the game I want.

I get this all the time when selling locally.
"Lol at your prices"
"I'll just buy it online for less"
There is one particular person that is the worst of the worst. They will complain about an NES game offered for $1 then tell you it's worth .25 Here are some (verbatim) gems from messages I've received from this person in the past:
"ill give u 100 for all the mEga man stuff not gonna get much more than that its cheper online"
(For a listing with a ton of high-value games)
"bet u got no emails with the prices u ask ill give you $500 for everything not gunna get beter deal then that"
(For a listing for Mega Man X3)
"lol this is (local website) not ebay u cant get those prices ill take it off ur hands for $50" (I sold it for my asking price an hour later)
(For a listing for Mega Man 7)
"not worth that much ill give u $25 best price ul get let me no"
What is it about Craigslist that turns off the part of the brain that controls making coherent sentences? Or are there just that many barely literate people out there?

No, not out there. It just so happens that they all use CL as their primary means of income.
Wow... add that to the list of reasons I won't sell there... although since I came into 35 liquor boxes full of books, I may have to. Lame.
Wait until January 1st, the only saving grace is that the spring / tax season market on Amazon is usually pretty strong. It still sucks though, I'm going to be pulling my listings and doubly so for any game that's short enough to be used as a free rental.
"Amazon.com, and many sellers on Amazon.com, offer returns for most items within 30 days of receipt of shipment. Most items sold on Amazon.com follow our general returns policies, but some products have different policies or requirements associated with them.
Note: Items shipped by Amazon.com between November 1, 2013 and December 31, 2013, may be returned until January 31, 2014, for a full refund, subject to our other return guidelines listed below. Items shipped from sellers other than Amazon.com are subject to the same return policy unless otherwise stated in the seller's individual Return Policy. They may not accept returns past the normal return window established in their Return Policy. For more details, see Seller Returns Policies below."
Everyone's local Craislist/Kijiji is about to be flooded with PS4 resellers. Then when it looks like it's about to stop, there will be Xbox One resellers. Enjoy!
My craigslist has already been flooded with them for weeks. I have been hard at work flagging them all off, these people piss me off. Thankfully they are helping me out flag each other.
Tons of them here are well. I really don't care about people reselling them. Until I ran into this one guy that wants $2,500 claiming after you give him the money directly, he will give "most of it" to a local woman's shelter charity. How low of a scumball do you have to be?
Happens every time a console comes out... happened with the Wii U, happened with the last gen, the gen before that (except for the Game Cube, no one wanted those ), and it will happen with the next gen.
People want to make a buck without having to do any real work. This is 'Merica
If I didn't think that the launch would be pretty flat I'd have bought a bunch to resell myself.
Someone just paid me $280 on ebay. Along with the checkout they ask, "Is it in mint condition?" WTF. That's something you ask before you checkout or check the description of the item. I described the best I could. This is an iPhone he bought. I clearly stated it had light scratches on the screen and a couple other things. I guess we'll just see what kinda feedback he leaves me.
I just picked up a CIB copy of Pokemon Stadium in really good condition at Goodwill for just a couple bucks. The reason that it is in the rant section is as follows:
There we no price tag on it so I found one of the workers there and asked if they could price it. They took it to the back and then I remembered that they put those stupid stickers on their items (the stickers that are really tough to get off if on long enough). I yelled back to the woman if she could not price it but come up to the register with me and confirm its price. Nevertheless, she had already put the sticker on it. Picked it up anyways, took a hair dryer to the sticker just in case before I tried removing it and thankfully it didn't ruin the cardboard of the box.
With the buying up and reselling of the PS4's, it doesn't bother me as much because they are going to be in production for a while and as I've said before, I plan on getting one at a reduced price. There are going to be millions. It's a different story when someone buys up like 50-100 of a really limited item (the Collector's Edition of Hyrule Historia is a perfect example). Those are the people in which I can't stand. Just my opinion.
This has happened to me a number of times before and it's still irritating every time:
I've noticed an item that has been relisted several times because it never once had a single bid on it. I decide to make a bid on it and then someone beats me right at the end of the auction! Where was this clown on the 3 other times the same item was listed??? Why are they only bidding now that I've placed a bid on it!

Click completed for my listing it is the only one.
To top it off the tracking still says that the post office was unable to deliver it.

I just sold a lego 4841. Brand new.
I'm going to take a picture of all the seals don't want to lose the set to a scammer. But I've noticed that lego people are pretty good.

Left negative feedback for slow shipping when item is still within the advertised and allotted timeframe.
Oh, and they live in Alaska. Aaaand stated that priority shipping would only have been a $1 or 2 more and should have been at my expense.. yea, sure.
