I've never heard of 11 Main but that site they do have up to tease looks like it could be a welcome change.

Once established sellers leave the type and quantity of merchandise changes. Itll implode the site over time. Ebay will just be a middle man people will abandon and rule unessessary
  • i really think spring brings out the worst buyers. I had basically zero feedback or dsr problems for nearly 9 months on a high volume of sales. I havent changed anything. Have gone out of my way on any problem to make sure buyers are happy but dsr's and cases being opened constantly now. Ignorant cases that get easily resolved but they reflect on my new defect rate all the same. I really think its just a different class of people buyinng things. The later tax refund crowd is literally the worst.
  • And I'm failing to see why it wouldn't be a good thing for ebay to get their virtual monopoly destroyed. I'd rather there be at the least 2 sites on even footing, fighting it out with the best perks to keep sellers and buyers around while not sticking the screws to people so fraud can run rampant so bring on Main 11 and anyone else who may have a shred of a chance at harming ebay in conjunction with their own stupid policies.

I'm glad I don't use it for a living like you man as that sucks. Perhaps I'm just ebay lucky as I've never had anyone get away with anything on me yet. I'd lie if I said there weren't the rare attempt, but I found creative ways to shut it down since it would be people trying to swap out goods from the types of attempts. I think part of the problem too with the spring is tax money. More trash with money for one time a year come out of the woodwork and try to stretch it as much as possible screwing the system.
  • once stuff sells I really haven't had any big problems recently, my headache now is about 25% of my stock that got stale (i.e. been sitting for about 3-6 months) I decided to open all of it for offer and you want to talk about low balls. I have people offering $2.50 on $20 items. I counter them back with $19.99 and tell them $2.50 wouldn't even cover shipping.

granted a couple rare occasions those low balls have turned into sales after a little back and forth but 99% of them lead to nothing but a waste of time.

  • I've got some stale stuff too pushing 3 months, a few are a little over. The two over are a pair of CIB basically new Nintendo made Japanese gba titles and I don't even have them expensive so I stubbornly leave them there and if they don't go I don't care as eventually I'll just use them if the mood suits me as I'm not running a business.

  • Yeah, but I have no clue who the people in those shows are besides Snooki (thankfully).
  • Thats the best part. You dont have to know who they are to make fun of them lol.

Jurassic Park cutoff, eh? Sounds fair enough for a few years, at least. I do have one friend that's right on the edge, so I'll exempt her.

Called Paypal and they say it's not their issue. So now I have to call USPS tomorrow and figure out what's wrong...(and yes, I've mentioned this to the buyers of my items as well so they know what's going on).

Did you put a multiple quantity of things in the box?   If you listed it as 17 video games with a value of 60, it might multiply that 60 by 17 for your total value.

Even if I send a video game lot to Canada, I'll just put 1 and then "Video Game Lot" for the description.

    hahaha

I use my brother as the cutoff. He was born within the same year of it. If you are younger than him, your opinion is invalid and I wont take you seriously

I used to teach high school, but all the kids I taught are now around 20-21, so as long as I liked them to begin with, I let them give their opinion. (These are Japanese kids, though, so the "gen" labels tend to not apply as much...)
  • I really wish Canada Post Tracked Packet was offered to more countries. Check out the list here, it looks like they picked a bunch of countries at random: http://www.canadapost.ca/cpo/mc/business/productsservices/shipping/trackedpacket.jsf?LOCALE=en&ecid=2012ext1003 Mexico, Brazil, and China aren't even on the list!

I actually entered the amount in right.  And when it got to pay window via Paypal, everything was added correctly.  However, when I went to print it (and saw the print preview, it was showing up way wrong).  I went to the post office instead and did it manually.

At least I won't be selling anything for a while, but hopefully no one else runs into the same problem as I did.
  • There is a seller on Amazon (maybe there's more than 1 doing this) who has the most retardo method of describing their listings. So w/ Amazon, you have a condition you must pick, NEW, LIKE NEW, VERY GOOD, GOOD, ACCEPT.. So this specific seller is gracing us with their detailed chart of the items condition. Instead of saying the freaking thing has the case or not, they do this...

"Very Good = Original Box and Manual, 2 or fewer stickers. Good = 2 or more stickers, manual or box may not be included, maybe be moderate wear Acceptable: Many stickers, sticker residue, moderate to heavy wear, both box AND manual may be excluded."

    Irritating as hell!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • Today, I learned that the Swiss post/Swiss customs are a bunch of assholes! Why you might ask? Well I bought some games from the US a few weeks ago. The seller told me that it would arrive in less than 2 weeks, which it usually does. He declared the value of the package to be $50 so I won't have to pay the import fees which are way too high in my country. During my package's shipment, I was in the Czech Republic, hoping that it would get to my place as soon as I got back home so I can play the games in the weekend. When I got home, there was a letter fro the customs asking me to send them the value of the package (that was actually ON THE FUCKING PACKET). Was Stevie Wonder inspecting the packets or what?! Of course I had to send a Paypal receipt so there was no way that I could avoid the fees. On top of that, they fucked up my whole weekend because of this. Fast forward to today... I got the package and had to pay about SEVENTY FIVE FUCKING DOLLARS TO GET IT! Swiss post/customs can go such a rhino dick while getting pissed on by a cheetah, all this while getting mutilated by the aforementioned animals. Then I want their corpses to get buried in shit, but in such a place where vultures can still eat them and then shit them back in that same shit for all eternity.

Dang! It needed to go out! Fuckin'assholes!

  • Is there any way to search Ebay and OMIT Global Shipping Program items?

If there isn't, someone proficient with programming needs to get on this asap.

But ebay says its a great program thatll boost your global sales??? Ebay lied?
  • On the 27th of April I noted a change in ebay's shipping software. For international shipments, suddenly the value was multiplied by the quantity. Previously the value was never a calculation.

Before Plastic Cartons, 25, $10 2 pounds. Total value on label upon print out: $10

Now Plastic Cartons, 25, $10 2 pounds. Total value on label upon print out: $250

I immediately contacted ebay, who ***acknowledged*** the error and stated that it went back to the **22nd**. 5 days prior to my call.

I had contacted all buyers (5) affected by shipments from the 22nd to the 26th instructing them to refuse the package if they are required to pay extra import taxes.

However, it would seem as though Ebay provided me erroneous information, because a guy in the UK just paid $51 customs tax on shipment occurred on the **21st**.

I have a work around for the software, but as of Sunday it still is calculating erroneously.

WTF, a notification, possibly disabling the software.... nope. I expect as much when I ask to be compensated for my expenses incurred because of what I was told was an error

     ebay can do no wrong.

honestly though ebay cant even hold up to its own standard of top rated. I wish we could low star their company as a whole.

  • Anyone here use Chrome and have some real problems with posting new stuff for sale?

I've been having an issue lately where I will enter a value and then it auto erases it. Usually it's just the price, bin boxes. Most the time I can enter a price, but when I pop something into the BIN, it cycles for a moment then erases it out every single time. You basically have to submit, then edit, and then it will save the info.

Annoyingly if you do that, then it will keep auto skipping back up to the price area, so you have to like within 2 seconds click off it, hit the END key on the keyboard to hit the bottom, and press 'submit' before it flies back up again or you're trapped.

You'd think a "professional" site like that wouldn't glitch so badly.
