Do they expect me to have my s/o ship my crap when I'm gone? If I didn't have anything better to do I'd call them and ask what the point is...
The idiot buyers are part of the reason why I've moved a bit away from selling games. I swear, I literally had someone email me today asking if a game I listed came with the game or was just the box... its a longbox PS1 game... the disc and manual are in the 3rd picture.
I belong to a couple ebay seller groups on facebook and some of the stuff that ebay customer service have told people lately is ridiculous.
For example if the post office screws up the shipping (package goes to Minnesota for a couple days before routing to California thus missing a delivery date). That is our fault and we are supposed to educate the USPS on how to do their job properly. Basically the seller is at fault for everything and needs operate like a large volume business no matter their size. If you can't meet their obscene demands then no TRS discount for you.
I'm to where I just accept the fact I'm not going to get the discount and not going to even bother to try. I'll take the 20% off on shipping and be done with it. I've been that way since they made up these stupid demands, and even before in relation to their garbage with allowing 14 day returns to be listed(despite they'll shiv you anyways for it) and the one day tracking I meet out of personal habit but I've been mysteriously hit for missing it when I haven't. They've slid into the 10th level of hell if you want to be the seller on the site and the other alternatives are worse in how they mistreat you (amazon) or that you just get ignored either due to lack of users or because you're not undercutting the going rate heavily for their needs (gamegavel.) I'm glad I had most of what I was selling bought in cash last night locally by a member here, dodged the bullet a bit.
Oh fuck Amazon... had to wait almost a month for them to pay me. If it wasn't so god damn hard to sell books on eBay I'd have 0 use for them as a seller.
get ready to get bent over again. I just got my routine phone call from ebay seller development and apparently starting November 1st until December 31st if you want to receive your 20% TRS discount you will need to offer a return window of up to January 31st.
I was ok with two weeks but now two months is a bit much. Most retail stores don't even offer that kind of return window.

Yeah that was one of the things announced in the spring update. I read on ecommerce bytes awhile back ebay is slready contemplating tweaking things because they realized theyd have a mass exodus of top rated right before the holiday season.
Its nuts. I only have one negative feedback that was a no contact customer since like last summer. I have shipped every package besides 1 within my 1 day handling. The 1 package was an ebay glitch that that left an item in my awaiting payment page snd dhowed no payment but he actually had paid. I have had zero cases closed without resolution. Yet im still 1.26 percent defect rate already pushing the 2percent limit. This thing is going to be impossible to keep. If you look at my reports 5 defects are because of 3 star item as described. And another for a neutral that got revised to a positive. Revisions dont matter. Still a defect. A neutral now hurts you as much as a negative.
I think we need to combine any capital we can, use some of our web people here and game/app coders and make a nice overall ebay clone not on the peanuts size of gamegavel which gets no traffic. Viraly destroy ebay on the internet, get other things going, and make it clear it's a flat rate 5% fee on anything, nothing to insert, no FVF charges (have the system make the user use USPS etc generate the shipping to evade the $1 item $100 shipping charges) and roll with it. Use a feedback system more like NA, no abusing of sellers allowed nor the buyers by the company. Sure not everyone would be happy but it would level the playing field.
Get enough of those top rated ebay sellers to a new site and it would take some work but it could happen.
It's the fake trust value that ebay created. Look at all those people with stores these days who don't have the best feedback rating yet they do get the higher than average sales. eBay is working I think to be a wannabe amazon marketplace so they create the myth that stores are the trustworthy vendors on ebay and the loners who don't are more of a risk so people will tend to buy less/pay less on those which sucks. I think they charge a fee to have and maintain the store so it fits.
It's good if you have the volume and that's nice you got that large of an uptick in sales. I could have probably done it living in CA as I could get stuff nearly every week at the flea market out there, but not here and I'm bottoming out on what I still wish to get rid of. It suits people with volume, not the casual seller.
I just noticed ebay took off the top rated seller icon I had in my listings even though I'm still "Your projected seller level is:
Top Rated"
I guess you gatta pay to be top rated now. Ebay is becoming a joke.
They don't need us anymore they are pushing for global. There is going to be an opportunity in the next few years for up starts to pick up the slack. Ebay will get to big and restictive for casuals to want to deal with.
That happened to me too many months ago. I had the status meeting their minimum require of a 100 items/1yr span and the cash value etc for it, but it just vanished except if you go within the seller account listings for feedback and it has a little icon there saying you're one, but it came off the main listing.
I'm open for an ebay-lite that centers on people not companies where the fees are 1/2 ebay's size but you can still use paypal along with anyone elses checkout that would broker through the page so you don't need to open like 10 different accounts up for wallets between PP, amazon, google, western union, etc. The issue is and only is getting the bodies in the door, and that only happens when ebay pisses off even the lower end 'shop' owners taking their rights and privledges away over petty penny ante crap like quest4games goes on about. He's being hurt and did nothing wrong.
My new mail lady marked has marked every single package I left her as "delivered" , so far the buyers have been honest with me but I still got a couple of new games out $50/$30 . If they file a claim they'll win immediately.
Getting people to your site isn't difficult, it just requires a lot of capitol. You partner up (pay off) a bunch of sites and the traffic will come. If I had a site I'd also have a ban list. A link that would show names and addresses of the pieces of shit that scam people. Don't know the legality of that but I would try it anyways. Scare off some aholes.
It probably would make them angry but legally all they could do is harass. Unless someone is very very well and intentionally buried online you can find out names, cities, addresses, and phone numbers pretty easy along with workplace, associates, friends.

That reminds me of how much I hate when my mailman marks a package as delivered when I never got it. It happened to me two or three times now. For one, he doesn't come up to my apartment to deliver the package and will just leave. Why would you leave and mark it as delivered? I then start to think someone in my building took my package. Then I have to start calling USPS and have to deal with nonsense until they tell me the mailman marked it as delivered instead of attempted delivery and ell deliver it the next day. Why? Just why?

eBay disclosed today that their internal non-financial database was hacked. First they urged users to change their passwords, then retracted that statement, then un-retracted the retraction.
User's names, passwords, addresses, phone #, and birth dates may have been exposed.
Ebay/ Paypal was hacked last year, I don't think they ever said anything about it. What ended up happening was that you were charged hundreds of dollars for for shipping labels created from your account and going to Russia. From what I read ebay/paypal were assholes about it to the people that got scammed.
Anyone else seeing the wonky USPS tracking through Ebay? Some of the terms they're using seem a little weird, like ''Enroute' instead of 'Processed through USPS Sort Facility', 'Arrival at Unit' instead of 'Arrival at Post Office, and 'Delivery' instead of 'Out for Delivery' or 'Delivered'. When I run the tracking number through USPS' website, everything's as it should be. It's just weird to me.
I had to call them today because their crappy shipping estimator blew it. Had sold this loose DS (no stylus/power plug) with 3 games and a case cheap to move it, and it told the dude $6.10 which he paid, and it wanted to charge me $9.59. Took them 10min on the phone, then a call back, reviewing it, then telling me they'll issue a credit within a week. I honestly think this somehow confused the hell out of them and I've had it happen maybe twice before in all the years since they've been around. I'm curious how it could screw up something that badly.
Ebays posting is still screwed up. If you try and list an item with one picture it effs up. You basically have to go post it and edit the picture to get it on there. Now this wouldnt be a problem if freaking ebay posted quickly. Takes forever for an item to show up. Waaaaay longer than it used to. Sll the changes they make screw everything up and cause massive glitches.
Well it happened. For once I am the idiot ebay seller. I sold a shirt as xxxl when in actuality it is only xxl (I must have messed up during a bulk listings edit). I e-mailed the buyer within 24 hours telling them of the mistake and if they were still interested I would knock another $5 off the price as an apology or I would gladly refund their money immediately if they didn't want it. Well at least if I get a defect this time it is my own damn fault.
I think ebays posting is permanently fouled up. POsting a bunch of new stuff Tuesday night took twice the time it should because it kept back jumping to other boxes you input info on the page and erasing things I put in. 9/10 times it would be the price, go to bin, type it in, then it erases it. The fastest workaround I had was to click the link above it for more options then X out of it so it would stick. Also about 20% of them despite having a picture uploaded, when actually posting removed them so I had to re-edit them back in which is garbage.
I just heard about that hacked thing from this site actually..not from ebay. I don't know what the deal is with ebay. My mom has been selling on ebay for 14 years and she's hated them ever since they changed their feedback stuff so you can't leave the buyer bad feedback. I think that's stupid...how else do you let people know that they were assholes or flakes or what have you?
I don't even want to touch on the subject of what they let get sold on their site ffs...some of the crap I've seen..
