Nes Not reading games

Hello,

I am working on trying to make a toploading nintendo from a front loader NES.

I disabled the lockout chip, and removed the expansion port and instaled a 47k resistor in pins 3,9 for powerpack extra audio and 3,40 for famicom cart extra audio. I can see any reason for it not to be reading games it's a 1987 cpu 11 motherboard if that helps.

thanks,

Sean

  • Are there any colors at all or nothing?

Also is there a flashing red light or nothing?
  • I bet something went wrong when you removed the expansion port.. that's major NES surgery then again can you do both audio mods on an nes? because that essentially shorts pin 9 and 40. maybe it needs a switch there?
  • I was going to use a switch to switch between both audio setting anyway.

the only thing I get is a grey screen. I even removed the resisters and still no dice.

I think the board is just damaged. Anyway, I have a spare Nes for the project anyway.
  • Probably illiterate
  • I'm curious as to what connector you're using to make it top loading since NES connectors are a weird pitch. (10mm I think?)
  • Something's wrong with the CPU part of things I'm guess if you can't get anything to boot up. Just check parts around there, make sure it's being clocked and such.
