When putting it back together remember what screws go into the metal shield. I'm bad about screwing stuff down, then trying to put the shield on and realizing I put some screws in too early.
Also, be sure the toaster mechanism is properly placed when you screw the cart holder back down. If you start tightening the front screws and the pop up mechanism starts bowing out, it isn't properly in place.
What are you using to cut the lockout pin? I actually use an exacto knife. I don't use a back and forth sawing action. I put the blade in place to cut the leg and pull to cut through it, but I don't push back like you would like you were sawing a log. I put the blade back where I started and pull again. I repeat until I've cut through. Imagine cutting a log with a handsaw but only cutting in one direction. Pulling it toward you.
Guides will show you where everything is, and I'm sure has better methods for cutting the pin. That method just works for me since I have exactos blades in my desk.
Mark the screws in which way that go into the connector, all others are pretty easy to remember as there's groups of them. Clip pin 4 always. Yeah, scrub the mother board as long as you can get it completely dry. Have fun with it.
The new connector never worked properly, so I boiled the old one that was seven years old or older, with dead bugs and droppings stuck in it. It performed flawlessly. I played Crystalis from beginning to end last night with no glitching.
There was no gold plating on the new connector. I've been wondering if that might have had anything to do with the fact that it performed worse than the old one did even before I cleaned it.

This is why I never change them out in the first place. Just saying.
That toaster I've bent the pins twice back up now and he is sexier than ever.
