Nes 2 av mod

So I did this Nes 2 AV mod thinking it would eliminate the vertical lines that the top loader has on the screen:

Alas it did not work. I got picture and sound but the colors seem to bleed together and just aren't as vibrant as they were with the RF.  Worst of all the lines are still there.



Anyway the main question is: How do I get rid of these vertical lines? Anyone know?

That mod only gives you a/v out. Doesn't do anything for jailbars. And the colors are probably bleeding from video interference(not sure).

This is what I've read about removing jailbars....

"add a 47uF - 100uF capacistor between PPU #22 (SYNC) and #20 (GND)"

My NES2 "top loader" does not have jailbars on AV out. It does however have that when using RF. I guess I'm lucky to have gotten my self a properly AV modded top loader. I didn't modify it my self, I bought it modified.

it also has a great deal to do with the comb filter in your tv as well. If your playing on a store brand no name tv vs. a Sony flat tube, you are certainly going to notice the difference. I can see the jailbars out the ass on my crap living room tv, but on my Sony tube that I play all my retro stuff on you can't see them at all.



But yes, there is a "proper" mod that removes the jailbars tho but Im not positive on which one that is.

I've had someone mod my Toploader to remove the lines, and add AV outputs.



It is possible to remove the jailbars however the mod is more complicated then just adding AV outputs.



The video has to be boosted and then cleaned up by building a new circuit.

Warning the mod can be difficult as someone I know was attempting it and they messed up clipping one pin on the PPU and it basically broke their toploader.

Thanks for the replies. I watched the video and it seems easy enough. Next Tuesday when I go to class I will snag the capacitors/resistors it requires (free components are good) and then take another shot at it.

I removed the lines by using an AV famicom instead.

I just sent a top loader out to have it modded by a nice fellow up in Indiana. Forty bucks plus shipping, he offers two types. One with the red, yellow, white jacks and one that goes through the RF port.



I'll let you know how it turns out when I get it back.

Yeah, I intend to remove the RF unit and utilize that port so I don't hack up my NES case. I saw someone used a 1/8" stereo jack out of the RF hole and then used an adapter from the 1/8" jack to AV, so I intend to do that.

I'm so tempted to have my Top Loader modded.

I've had one fail on me so I'm afraid to throw money at it.

I'm also concerned about ruining it's "stockness"

I really want mine modded as well, but I plan on getting an extra one I can have a stock one too. I really hate the idea of holes in a top loader

You'll get over the holes when you see the picture quality, it's hands over the RF
