Kirby 20th Anniv pack for Wii, New Super Mario Bros 2 3DS coming
I was messing around with the 2 games on facebook I tool with and hit the logo, and Nintendo I do have feed me info and it appears coming in a few months there's a Kirby Wii disc coming, probably something simple and sweet(or stupid depending on opinion) like Super Mario got with the Allstars box. They're saying Kirby will get 'all' his old adventures on one disc. Then the other, I think it said it was coming in summer, and that New Super Mario Bros 2 3DS appears to have the Racoon Suit and the P-Wing included with it too.
I'm not sure I'd go for Kirby but I'll definitely be checking out that Mario game. I've always questioned their smarts ditching that raccoon/tanooki suit setup after the 3rd title as it so naturally to me felt like a normal item like the flower and mushroom.

To celebrate Kirby’s 20th anniversary, Nintendo is releasing a Kirby compilation disc for Wii. The collection was announced during the Japanese Nintendo Direct conference and subsequently confirmed for North American release through Nintendo of America’s twitter account.
There is currently no information regarding the games that will be included in the collection. However, it’s safe to assume that the collection will be similar to the one release in 2010 for Mario’s 25th anniversary.
I think Nintendo should've had NEW SMB 2 for the Wii U as a launch title instead of having it on the 3DS.

I doubt it will be similar to Mario as Super Mario Allstars already existed and was easily ported. As far as I know Kirby doesn't have one of those.
With the VC, this could very easily be ported to a disc and packaged up nicely. I don't see how it would take much effort, to be honest, with just coding up a simple menu to select the game (which is probably a rom anyway) and running the VC code from the CD to execute it. Seems pretty cut and dry to me.

I still wanted Nintendo to have a compilation for Zelda but that's never going to happen.

They had one... on the GameCube.

Im not sure if you recall, but a year ago they kept talking about how they were doing something special for Zelda's 25th anniversary. I even have an E3 lanyard saying Zelda 25th anniversary, and Miyamoto said they had something big planned. Everyone assumed theyy were hyping up a collection but it was just them saying "we have lots of zelda stuff coming out this year, like Skyward Sword and Ocarina 3d" even though they were already announced. A Zelda collectors disc with the Super Famicom Zelda remakes included as well would've been fantastic. Id buy it just if it had some good packaging. I think its kinda sad how Kirby get 2 brand new games (Return and Epic Yarn) in a year, plus a collector's disc while one of videogames premier franchises gets a mediocre Wii game and a rerelease.
And did someone call Skyward Sword mediocre???
Nintendo bought the domain for supermario4.com.
Super Mario World is considered the sequel to Super Mario Bros. 3, and in my opinion of playing the game, really feels like it is.
So, would that mean Super Mario World isn't actually Super Mario Bros. 4, but a side-game or something?
Christ, Nintendo...

Guess their not related. There is a logo out for New Super Mario Bros. 2
Still hoping for Mario 4 though.
Yeah ... like that is going to happen. I'm sure it will be Bowser again... What I'd give for another adventure in Subcon.

Considering that in Japan super Mario world's full title is super mario world: super Mario bros 4 I would love to see that explained away.

Amen and amen. I never tire of Mario either. Nintendo should make a user-friendly Mario level editor for the Wii that allows you to share your levels designs. That would be a glorious day, especially if the suits at Nintendo took the rods out of their @sses and allowed the newly designed levels to be ported to regular (i.e. emulator friendly) roms apart from the Wii.
I've read a lot of comments on the internet of people discussing their dislike with NSMB2 being too similar to the two previous games in the series, and yet they say that they're still going to buy it. I mean come on people, if you're not happy with the product why buy the game. It feels like there are too many people that have the attitude that any new 2D mario game is a must-buy. I really wish people would be a little more picky with what they buy. If all the complainers are going to buy the game anyway, Nintendo is just going to make another game that is really similar again. What motivation can Nintendo possibly have to try something new when sales prove that stagnation is just fine?
Well if Americans think its too similar they can always take a different game and replace the sprites with Mario ones.

i constantly ask them for this on my club nintendo surveys. if not uploadable/sharable levels (which i really like the idea of, and theyve done it before) at least downloadable level packs on a regular basis or something would do me just fine.
*also i love reading all the comments about people hating on it, its funny to me as theres many of us that all we want is more mario bros. if it aint broke dont fix it. i would love if nintendo just had a dedicated team that made mario levels all day. the engines already built, give us 8 worlds of 4 boards every 6 months at a reasonable download price. i would be so happy.
Given the series goes back to 1985 and it's 2012 now and they're just inching into the 7th platformer Super Mario Bros side scrolling game in 27 years you can't be too upset, let alone call it overkill or a flooding of the market of the brand either as far as new good material goes. NSMB came out in 2006, SMBWii in 2009, and NSMB2 to be out in 2012. That's a slower pacing than we got back when they did the 4 original titles for NES and SNES too.

I didn't know people were whining about NSMB2. That's a shame. Sure it feels similar, but you really can say that about any of the side scrollers since SMB3 if you really want to get down to it. Honestly, I think it's just whining for the sake of it, either because you feel you have to buy it as it's Mario, or because your expectations are out in left field. Personally I say stop the bitching. Why? Because Nintendo hosed us 'Super Mario Bros' fans stopping with #4 back in 1991. It wasn't until the Nintendo DS title did we ever get realistically Super Mario Bros 5 and 6 would be the Wii, and this here would be #7.

Well, since you're counting portables, you forgot all the GameBoy Marios.

You do know that a Super Mario Bros. 4 is confirmed right? Most likely for Wii-U but finally a true sequel to SMB3. I'll be putting on my nostalgia hat for that one since SMB3 is my favorite Mario game.

yea nobody here really seems to have an attitude about it, but sure enough i followed the link to the story and that whole comment section was clogged with "ugh, cant they do anything new" type comments. haters gonna hate i guess. personally i am excited about all the news of more platforming mario games. it makes me feel like they listen to their customer surveys and such. join club nintendo today!

They're not unique, they're mario all stars things or that deluxe stand alone. I left out the Land titles as it is it's own series as shown by it being brought back with Super Mario 3D Land as I've always seen it as its own series with a different end boss all together up until 3D Land threw Koopa back into the mix as it was Wario and Tatanga before in another land.
I was reffering to your comment about flooding the market with side scrolling mario games. The subtitles aren't really relevent. Mario Land plays just like Super Mario Bros. series. And the collections on GBA point further to flooding.
Either way though, I don't mind being flooded with Mario. And right now it really isn't being flooded, they can pickup the pace.
