Should I get the Wii's Animal Crossing now that it's only $20?

I've owned the GC Animal Crossing for several years (I got it back when it became a Player's Choice game for $20 and after someone sent me a memory card with all the NES games and gold tools) and played it off and on. I wasn't so sure about the Wii and DS versions mainly because I was let down because neither includes any bonus NES games like the GC version does.

But recently I discovered that the Wii version became a Player's Choice (or whatever it's called now) and thus is now only $20 at Amazon (I have some leftover Amazon credit). Should I go for it or not? What similarities and differences will I notice between the Wii version and the original GC version? I do already know:

* No bonus NES games

* I'm guessing unlike the GC version, you can't use cheat codes to get money and items in the Wii version, right? I guess it won't kill me to earn those sorts of things honestly, right?

  • No...you cant use cheat codes. Some pros to the wii version include stuff like being able to sell your items to nook all at once instead of one at a time and having your fossils identified immediately instead of waiting the next day. You get a bigger house to work toward and there is a "city" you can go to and get special items. You can also hook up with other people's towns and visit through wifi. Its not a bad upgrade for 20 bucks.
  • To be honest the Wii version of Animal Crossing is not too much different from the gamecube version. Once you've played one you've played them all. Animal Crossing Wii and DS are pretty much slightly updated versions of the gamecube one. That being said, there are lots of new items to collect and lots of nintendo related furniture. Gamecube one I played the most, Wii and DS ones I get addicted to it the first month than stopped. Only get it if you just want new objects to collect, not for any new gameplay. I dont think there are cheat codes, you send gifts via online functionality.

    Holy Shit! She posted....

  • I'd really recommend the DS Animal Crossing if you have a DS. I enjoyed that one far more than the GCN version (which I also played to death). Only advantage over the GCN Animal Crossing are the NES games, other than that the game is just a better version of the first.

    Perhaps but the DS one isn't on sale for $20 like the Wii version is.  Besides, isn't the DS version nothing more than a watered down version of the Wii Animal Crossing?

  • No. I still think that the GCN version is far superior to any....we'll see how the 3DS one is I suppose
