Harvest moon SNES not working

Just bought a copy of Harvest Moon for SNES. Cart looks good. I tested it and it didn't work so I tried cleaning it, no luck.

I tried it on a normal Snes, Retro duo and even the Hyperkin Supaboy. It does not work.

I opened it up and took some pictures of the board. The contacts look good but I'm no pro at this so maybe someone can spot the BooBoo.

Could the battery be the problem? Wouldnt the game start but not save in this case?

I'm out of options. Help!

**Edit  I noticed it says 1993 on the board and the game came out somewhere in 1997? Am I the victim of "board switch fraud" here?

  • Honestly to me those pins still look dirty, what method did you use to clean them?
  • sns-aywe is Harvest Moon

Yeah like Paul said the pins still look a bit dirty, recently I tried the pencil eraser method to clean the contacts and it's very effective, give it a try!
  • Pins look worn to me, the gold is pretty much gone.

Is that a spec of dirt on the trace for pin 11 on the backside of the cart? Almost looks like the trace was cut.

Just a Q-tip and window cleaner. I'll give it another rub.

I usualy just give it a small rub and the game works fine afterwards but maybe this one requires a heavier scrub.

    Thanks

  • Another trick I do if the game is being a pain is to get the finest grit sandpaper and give a few light rubs accrost the pins then do one more pass with a Q-tip and rubbing alcohol and 9/10 times they fire right up unless there is damage to the board or chipset.

  • IT'S ALIVE! I used rubbing alcohol this time.

    Rubbing alcohol > Window cleaner

  • same is happening to my Mario RPG... it doesn't work... I'm gonna try with the pencil eraser method and later on alcohol and see if it works (I hope so)
