This is the screen I get on my GB Advance, Super Gameboy and Gameboy Color. I've cleaned the contacts with an eraser and windex/q-tip. Still this is what I get. Any ideas? Below is the board
It doesn't look like you will be able to fix that. I would imagine it is either RAM or Memory failure. This happens all the time with Pokemon games, I just can't remember what specific issue it is.
Those contacts still look horrid. I've had many times where one cleaning simply isin't enough. I hear of people using windex all the time. Windex is mostly water and water is no good for electronics. Brasso is a metal polish and should work, but there is a residue left behind that can be tricky to completely remove (Not to mention the cost if all you're doing is cleaning some contacts on a game.)
For all my cleaning I use %99 Iso Alcohol and Q-tips. Make sure not to use any less than %70. Run a dampened qtip over the contacts with some pressure, but not too much, then use the dry end to soak up any excess alcohol. Repeat until the qtips come out clean.
If you don't want to worry about residue from brasso you could try using a clean pencil eraser before using alcohol. Just don't rub too hard, usually takes the grime right off then use the alcohol like normal.
If alcohol and qtips or Brasso doesn't work, drastic times calls for you to scrape each connector pin with a razor blade to renew each connector.
This isn't recommended if you can get it clean by other methods, however I did this with my Dragon Warrior III cart that was rusted green and it works like new.

Haha man that's brutal sounding! Hopefully it doesn't come to that
I've seen that glitch and seeing the pins it's dirty. I wouldn't go as far as a razor but when I get desperate in very rare instances that alcohol won't even cut it, I'll use a magic eraser jammed hard into it using my thumb with the game opened up. That has yet to fail for me on a stubborn cart. You should using one of those get it very shiny compared to what it is now. Oh and also, Windex doesn't work well, hell it can damage the board if anything due to the ammonia.
Yeah, Weimans/clean it better for sure, those pins SUCK. And you can also tear down your gameboy and clean the connector in the system too with something like a tooth brush or something like that. I usually do that too. It should fix it right up.
As far as I can tell, with brasso, black will always come out, as its an abrasive, so when its done taking the dirt out, it still remove small particule of metal/plastic. I clean all my games with it, and 1 application is enough 90% of the time, unless the pins where extremely dirty, then I wipe it off and use a 2nd q-tip. 29 might be overdoing it!
Here are the contacts now. The contacts seem pretty clean; what do you guys think? I feel like I'm making progress though because the "NINTENDO" logo on the opening screen will sometimes barely be glitchy and other times will look like it does in the first post.
I'd leave the game alone at this rate as that's very shiny looking. Gut the Gameboy and clean those pins in there as well as you did the game, and if it fails now, then yeah it burned out somehow with age.

Is there no remedy for RAM failure?
You can check if all the pins of the circuit boards are connected to the motherboard, try checking the voltage on the resistor.
Well that's all I can think of

Hope that helps.
Alright so use brasso first and then the 99% Iso Alcohol to clean the contacts of any residue?
