Theres a guy here in Texas ..That has one for sale and I want to know what to look for to make sure its legit...I might be able to do some trading on it ..crosses fingers
he won't take a lifetime supply of lapdances from you?
well the last one went for what $2755?
if he know what it is and what it's worth and can use the internet machine to get an idea you might have to come close to that
buuuuuuuut if he thought it was worth $500 5 years ago, then offer him $1000 and you'll both be winners
I bought one off eBay after the $2755 one for $2050. Might be able to save yourself a few bucks referencing that one instead since he could have easily not noticed that the first one was sold through the forum here.
Turns out that the market price for this cart is still $2000ish (closer to $2100) since there's been I think two that sold for that price since wrldstrman sold his for $2755.
But like the others said-
1.) Bring cash
2.) Bring no more than you're willing to spend no matter what.
3.) Put your "Want to buy" price in one pocket (let's say $1500?) and the rest in another
4.) Try and buy it for as low as possible by starting low- again, $1500.
5.) When he starts to say "no" just bring out the 1500 and "fake" count it. Spread it wide and show off the stack while still being subtle about it.
6.) If $1500 isn't enough- wait for his price and offer a number less than the middle. (e.g. if you open with $1500 and he says $2000- offer $1650 instead of $1750)
7.) If that's still not enough- offer him a little more and wait for his response
8.) If that's still not enough- offer him a *little* more but still not his want price.
9.) If that's still not enough- give him his want price.
If you're really ballsy you can probably walk away after the second offer while still flashing the cash. Make SURE he sees it go back in your wallet (and not his ) but again, that's ballsy.

I do like to fold the wad and stick it in my shirt pockty while leaving green showing
So the last carts sold were the one I bought from the Dougs and the one Crabmaster2000 bought off ebay. There is a giant gap in those prices as well as a condition margin.
Another thing to factor in is pedigree. One came from wrldstrman who had it for a decade or so, and one came from an ebay auction that everyone in the SE thread said they wouldn't bid on because of skyjing's antics and lack of transparency. I'm totally glad crabmaster got a legit copy from that sale (especially at the price), but if it had came from a trusted member here, there's no doubt it would have gone for more money.
$2000-2200 may be the past prices for 2 years or so, but only one minty copy without any buyer risks has come up for sale since NES prices have went up, and it went for $2755 & 2850. If Matt or Rob's old minty copies show up for sale anytime soon, then we'll know what loose mint SE's are averaging, but right now we are in uncharted territory.
Anyone who has SEs for $2000-2100 let me know, I would be interested at this price, since I could instantly resell for serious profit. I personally see the current price for known problem free SEs being closer to $2300-2500, but that is just taking the factors I stated above into consideration.

I was surprised that right after I paid a then record $2755 for the copy that I bought on here that I was offered (and sold it for) $2850 less than three months later. I wouldn't be shocked if the next mint, no risk copy that comes up for sale goes for $3000.

Agreed completely with everything you just said. I was willing to pay up to $2550 for a copy of the "world's stongest" SE. Having the risk dropped significantly with Doug as the seller was worth hundreds more to me when deciding what I was willing to pay. I was REALLY hoping that with the risk involved with the skyjing listing it would scare off everyone else and I would get it for what I consider to be an excellent deal.

It paid off for sure! I'm glad you got the real deal, I was tempted to buy since it was pulled from the previous auction, but there was so much doubt here I was scared off.

Yea I advise against waiving large amounts of cash in front of anyone you aren't familiar with.

Obviously you've never tried it.
