Anyone know how to fix and Xbox Disc tray that won't open?

I picked up a really cheap Xbox at a garage sale and took it home to work on it.  The system powers up just fine and seems to connect to the TV just fine.  The problem is that when I push the eject button the little light just blinks and the tray never slides out.



I've tried manually opening it with a paperclip and smacking it on the top like I saw on another site.



Do you repair guys have any ideas on how to fix it?

    Sounds like the gear is either stuck or off track. Try opening it up and taking a look.

    Does it make any sounds at all when you try to eject? Does the light stop blinking a while after you first press eject?

    It should manually eject with the paperclip.

    If it doesnt then I would agree with Adam.

    You need to open this sucker up and see whats going on inside.

    xbox are notorious for this. best thing to do is swap it out. very easy and takes about 5 min. also manually eject it with something else, paperclip might not be sturdy enough.
