Oh I see. Well, whether you are the buyer or seller, I think it is well worth the cost. If you are selling, I think that is one great way to seal the deal (provided the car isn't a piece of crap, having been wrecked or something like that), and as a buyer, same logic applies. Obviously you wouldn't want to do this for EVERY car you were interested in. I am curious if there isn't a cheaper way to come up with one of these though!
ill post here too for people who don't know this trick
create an ebay auction like you are going to sell it, but do it under classifieds, and put the vin number in. Once you list it, ebay gives you a free carfax, and if you list it as a classified, it's a free listing. I usually put the title as test auction. btw, this is probably very late.
Be careful with carfax, I have been a mechanic for many years and while carfax reports can be useful they are only as good as how honest the previous owners were. What I mean is that if a problem is not reported then it won't show up on a carfax.
Over the years I have worked for various dealers and seen used cars come from auctions that were flood cars, had major body repairs etc... and the carfax's came up clean because the damages were never reported.

Yeah for $34.95...I always get the dealer to print me one but this is private party sale.
