Castlevania Chronicles (Super Mario All-Stars Style)

Contrary to its title, this is not really a true anthology title, and because of that I'd think rather this should have been a 16-bit remix of the first three NES Castlevania titles (1987's Castlevania, 1988's Castlevania II: Simon's Quest and 1990's Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse), in the vein of Super Mario All-Stars, had Konami had the audacity to consider its release for the Super NES.
Instead, it is really an all-new game with only hints of the original Castlevania levels and music pieces. Again, I think it may have sold better if it were a true anthology title like Super Mario All-Stars or Mega Man: The Wily Wars. What do you Nintendo fans think?

With that being said, it would be nice to have some sort of anthology now. There's a ton of games to choose from. Many of the younger generation have never seen some of the older titles.
Back in the day when Super Mario All-Stars came out, compilations weren't the "in" thing. That's probably one reason why Konami never made a anthology game for Castlevania; there was no market for one.
I don't think Konami ever released Castlevania: Chronicles under the guise of an anthology. It was a remake of the original Castlevania on the Sharp X68000 home computer that they improved and ported onto the PS1. You can play the original version of the remake (that's weird to say) on the disc as well. I think that's actually why they gave the ported version the name "Chronicles". It's like a flashback in a sense. Though I see what you mean, the name can be deceiving.
Castlevania: Chronicles is actuall a very fun game, in my opinion. I think it's great seeing improved and expanded versions of the old levels. In fact, there's quite a few new levels thrown in. It's one of my favorite Castlevania games.
