Famiclone in the USA?

Hello!

I am looking to buy a clone famicom system (like the yobo, retrobit, etc NES systems) here in the USA.  I have seen so,e listings on EBAY for a Yobo (I think ) system called the FC GAME CONSOLE but I am not sure if it is just a name or it really is a Famicom machine.

Does anybody know of any Famicom oriented clone systems that can be bought in the USA for cheap?

Thanks in advance!

  • It's just a name. The FC Twins and FC3s only play Original American NES and Super NES-- not the famicoms.

You could, however, use converters and other adapters to play Japanese games on them. There's even a region switch to switch between Japanese and American regions on the FC 3 (example: Putting Streets of Rage in a FC 3 with the Japanese switch will turn the game into Bare Knuckle).
  • Thanks for the update. That is what I was afraid of. Seeing these on Ebay for $18.00 made me think that there is no way this could be a famiclone for that price.

I have been looking for a famicom to nes converter for a while now but have not been able to find one for a reasonable price. Do you have any idea where I can get one where I would not be paying a ton of money? (I generally see them go for 40 to 100 bucks)

    Thanks again for your help.

  • Yeah, converters low end cost as much as a Famicom system itself... you could use the converters that come is some Gyromites, but the price of those double since last year (they were around 15 for Gyromite with a converter inside it, now they're around 30!).

All I can say is keep a eye out in thrift stores, pawn shops, and flea markets for Gyromites that have the converters in them. Here's a guide to help you spot differences between a Gyromite that has a converter and one that doesn't: http://www.racketboy.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=24636

  • If you don't mind that I'm located in Canada, I have some pirate Famicom carts in my signature, and I also have a Micro Genius system with the 2 controllers, but I do not have hookups so the system is untested, but might be cool for you to tinker around with?
