Link to the Past

As the title says, Amazing game, one of my favorites of all time... but why wasn't it released as a port on any system later?

We saw this happen to lots of other SNES titles, obviously mainly Square/Enix titles, but could you imagine the hype of a 3D remake of LTTP? oh man, I would be all over that like fleas on a dog.

Anyone else think an updated LTTP port would be cool?

Comments

  • Playable in the GBA title Four Swords, you either select Four swords, or if you don't have any friends, you can play LTTP by yourself.
  • Yeah, they ported it to the GBA.

BUT! I've heard many fans throughout the years talk about the thought of a full 3D remake of LttP. I think that would be incredible. Heck, it'd be incredible for Oracle of Seasons/Ages (OoA was the first 2D Zelda I ever played). That'll probably be a huge project, but Nintendo would definitely profit from it.

I'm surprised a fan project hasn't been started for it. At least there's not one to my knowledge. There was an OoT2D fan-game being made but the original author quit pretty early on. Some one else tried to pick up where he left off only with Minish Cap graphics but I don't think it went very far, either. Both of those games were going to be created using Game Maker/GML.
  • I'd love an ALttP remake. It's my favourite Zelda game and one of my favourite games of all time. If nothing more, a 3D remake would be interesting to see, though I expect many people will draw comparison to OoT, which may or may not hamper it. Not to mention a large amount of the bosses have been reused/recreated in 3D already. Imagine a 3D Moldorm and Lanmolas... I don't want to try it any more.
  • I really enjoyed link to the past. it was like playing the original NES zelda 1 with much better graphics. many times i was on the edge of my seat. Its absolutely fun
  • Yeah, I was confused when the Gamecube disc had the 2 NES and 2 N64 titles but they skipped LttP.
  • best zelda game to be , i love the glitch and the peeps that dont know poop bricks

    what about Parallel Worlds ?
  • I would go ape-shit over a 3D remake of LTTP. I would just hope they don't mess it up.

This. I cant believe they picked the 64 games over link to the past ... didnt they release one of them again on the gamecube?
  • A 3D remake would make me vomit. I haven't liked a 3D Zelda game yet, so I just know they'll fuck the game up.
  • Yeah, I'd rather they remake the 3d games as 2d. Most of all I just wish they'd come out with a new Zelda game that doesn't use motion controls.
  • Miyamoto has been interviewed and asked about a LTTP remake several times over the years. His general answer has bee 'depending who is in charge of the project, I could support either a remake or completely new retelling of the story'. Who knows if it would ever happen, but I'd be in line to buy it!

It was rumored to originally be included on that disc, but scrapped in the end because they didn't want its inclusion to impact the GBA sales of the game which were still strong at the time.

  • I'd rather have a 2d remake of some of the 3d titles.
  • I believe the remake of this in 3d would be to keep the game in 2d just with 3d depth to the visuals and not to remake the entire game.
  • I dont want the game to be ruined in 3d, I am a much bigger fan of 2d games, especially the zeldas
  • I am pretty sure Miyamoto also said recently that he wants to make another Zelda game in the same look and appearance as Zelda: Link to the Past. Man, would that be amazing. I loved Link to the Past's art and overworld.
