What do you think think are the 5 most undervalued NES games?

  • I agree with NGD. I dont bet, though. How about this- I dont have an ebay store and dont plan on opening one but I will list one of my US big box copies in great shape next week for $500. no best offers. lets see if it sells. I really highly doubt it will. Its just one of those pieces no-one outside of this site realizes the rarity of.
  • I'm not sure what to think of this title. In a way, its a variant. A cool one and everything but I'm not sure I'd want to pay three hundred for one.
  • I think with something like this, you have to let it "ferment" in your store for a few weeks -- let everyone drool over it until finally someone breaks down and buys it. How many times have you said, "Damn, this is more than I wanted to spend, but I'm tired of looking for it."? I know I've done that many times.

That said, I agree that it likely wouldn't sell for $500 in an auction-style format, but likely in a store.

  • Why not just sale it to me since I still need a copy and lets call it a day raregamergirl image haha, not that I would pay 500 of course image

  • I dont want to get rid of it, but for $500, I sure would image If you have any items I need, though, to finish up my US set, I would be willing to listen of course image
  • Anyone know how many Big Box Gyromites were released? or the time period? I would guess early in the NES's life then they started releasing the Regular ones
  • Since it was in the early days of the NES when ROB was still sell w/Deluxe Set, probaly not much, the real numbers ? can't tell.
  •  As far as the BB Gyromite goes, I have a few points.  Don't forget that the box is quite large, so I'm sure a lot of people just found it easier to stick the parts on ROB, pop the game somewhere and toss the box.  It's true that a lot of people don't know the rarity of this game, but it is starting to pop up as a topic in quite a few different forums.  It's interesting, because topics like this do seem to raise the prices of some of the 'under the radar' CIB titles that are hard as hell to find.  On NES world, someone would post how hard a title would be to find CIB, a few members would agree and then all of a sudden the next few auctions were all being bid on by newer members on the forum who read the posts.  I remember less than a year ago a CIB copy of the US version selling for 25$ shipped with 2-3 bids on ebay (I remembered the auction was ending soon 20 mins after the auction ended) and now look at the prices they are going for.  I bought mine in an auction that included a CIB Stackup, CIB Clu Clu Land and 32 other CIB games, a ROB, systems and a bunch of NP books for 250$ shipped last year...it was listed on ebay and didn't meet the 300$ reserve that was being asked (The highest bid was about 120$).  This is a title sellers will slap a low BIN on because it's just gyromite, but there are now too many people looking for it to end at a decent price because it's being overexposed in forums.  Alright, in retrospect, I don't have many points; just a lot of rambling.

As far as the other games go that members have listed, I've been agreeing so far, keep the suggestions coming!  One other that I can think of that's a pain to find CIB is the Konami Classic version of Blades of Steel.  I think this might be so hard to find though because people never list it as the KC version, but I still think it is at least a little bit undervalued.  I was lucky wherein I asked a random seller if their version was the Classic and it was so I was able to obtain it for 7$ shipped.

  • I actually like the red classic series look better than the silver/gray. I don't think it's really all that hard to find complete though. I got my for $6 plus S&H. And for some reason, we don't have this in the database as of yet! I'm surprised being that it's a pretty big variant.
  • I agree, Limbofunk, and the recent Chubby Cherub debacle is proof that forums can directly affect prices on under-the-radar games. I got my Chubby Cherub a year ago for $75, and would have gotten it for around $25 had Hounder not bid.

  • Well, my top bid was like $35 on that auction because at the time I had NO idea it was so hard to find. Yeah, I knew it was rare but not R10 rare! Lol Dain got an excellent price tag on that thing. Wish I would have known this when Josh sold his for $65 image

actually I had bid on that one to but thought 75.00 was max I would pay..I still dont think ill pay more than 100.00 for one
  • I think that's a bit optimistic. I think those days are gone.

I thought you bid on the one listed immediately after this one. I just remember there only being 1 or 2 bids on it other than mine. The price was around $20-30 going into the final hours and Hounder had bid I think $70 on it. The title may have something to do with it as well -- it was listed as "Chuby Cherub".

  • glad to know i made a good purchase.. this is not pieced together its all here origional all mint like new condition, looks like i has only been in a nintendo 1 or 2 times.
  • Dang, man. That is nice. Even has a poster with it. Didn't realize it came with one.
  • im pretty sure this is all it comes with must have been the origional owner i got it from. and i think that is the first time the poaster was ever opened...
  • you find that localy or on ebay
  • I'm going to go with 5 games nobody else mentioned. Not just to be different
either...I really think these games are the most undervalued. For the record I
    only own 1 of these(fire 'n ice).

(Current cart value/what I think the value should be)

    5) Blackjack($20/$30)

    4) Ms. Pac Man Namco($15/$25)

    3) Ultima: Warriors of Destiny($15/$30)

    2) Fire 'n Ice($20/$40)

    1) Casino Kid II($10/$60) - yeah I went there, 60 just for the cart! call me crazy!
  • Superman comes to mind. There's usually one or two loose carts in the $5-10 range, but how often does a CIB come up?
  • Good list Scarecrow -- I agree with all your "should be" prices except for Casino Kid II. I see that one go under the radar all the time, often ending for $5-6 (cart).

Superman is also a good one to point out. It's a pretty uncommon game to find CIB, and there's two seal versions of it as well, which is odd for a semi-rare game!

  • funny thing, a certain someone on e-bay wants $54 + $7 shipping for blackjack...... lol

I think you have a great list also, except I don't care much for ms pac man. The other four choices are gold
  • It's always interesting to me to see what people think is really rare/cheap/expensive/ etc... Everyone is a little different. Like Dan having that one game that he says has never been found sealed. I don't blame you Bronty for not putting the name of it out there.

I have one game that should be cheap = easy to find but in all my years of collecting and with the collection I have I've only come by 4 boxes for it and all 4 have been trashed. That will be my secret game until I ever find a mint one. I can't believe how hard it is to find a mint box for. The game and book routinely sell for $4-$6 but no one ever has the box. In fact looking in the NA Database the box picture both front and back is pretty bad too. If I ever find one I think I will petition to have the rarity raised above where it is in the 5-6 range to at least 7-8 but then again maybe it's only me who can't find the damn thing!
  • Funny you should mention Superman (a few posts up) just got a CIB one in the other day to upgrade my box as it has lots of shelf wear. Both boxes are white seals but just as I was taking pictures of it for the bay I noticed the boxes are the same but I have the white seal cart and manaul to CIB my white seal box but I also have the black seal cart and manual with the other one so now I need a Black seal box. ARGH... variants... just love 'em! :-)
  • If you have a spare white seal version CIB then, let me know...I have the black seal one image
  • Alas no... I have the white seal one CIB. Also the black seal book and cart. Have a double of the white seal box. Pretty upset aout it actually from the front, top, bottom, and sides it looks factory fresh mint. On the top of the back there is a top layer rip (not all the way through to inside of box) that is taped down. So mad, I thought I had a perfect mint box and when I turned it over I wanted to hit something!
