So hi, I'm new
I'm new to Nintendo Age though have been a part of a number of communities over the years, I do recognize a few names here though not a ton. I'm getting back into game collecting in a serious way.
About two years ago I had to sell my entire game collection. I had a job offer in Georgia and lived in Michigan, I couldn't afford to move though unless I sold it. I didn't have time to part it out and had to sell it as a lot and got just over 1000. I felt good about it at the time, but considering I had a SNES, Genesis, Sega CD, Saturn, Gamecube, Xbox, PS2, PS1, DS, N64, NES and about 500 games, I probably shouldn't feel good, lol, especially since I had a lot of great titles for them, particularly for the Sega CD (Shining Force CD, Dark Wizard, Vay), PS1 (Both Lunar games complete, Arc the Lad Collection, Final Fantasy 7 black label, Suikoden, Vandal Hearts 1 and 2, many more) and Genesis (Phantasy star 2-4 complete, Shining Force, a bunch more).
Still, ultimately it was worth it. The job has worked very well (they are transferring me to Illinois next month with a promotion and nice raise). I make solid money, I have a fair amount of job security as it goes, I enjoy it and I'm happy. I don't regret selling my collection that much I've found, for me, part of the fun is the hunt and I had grown stagnant in that. I was barely buying anything, I had more or less gotten out of gaming before selling it (which probably made it easier to sell). Going through this has reignited my love of video games. I did keep two systems at the end of the day, my Xbox 360 and my Dreamcast (the 360 because most of my friends have Xbox Live and I figured it would be good for staying in touch, the Dreamcast because it was the first system I bought with my own money and I couldn't bring myself to sell it.
I've been buying some since last year. I picked up a Wii last June, a PS3 in November and a 3DS in February. Still, in the last two months, largely inspired by the finds I saw people getting on CAG's yard sale and thrift store threads, I have been inspired to start going and I've found some amazing stuff. I'll share more in the Finders Keepers forum but I will say I've bought 8 systems in the last 2 months for a combined $70. I feel amazing, I even have three systems I didn't have before I sold them. I love finding deals and for me actually, I find the hunt is actually more fun than the games themselves, though I really do love the games too.
Looking forward to being part of the community.

Haha really? I live in Alpahretta too - small world. Good luck with your move
Welcome to NA! You still living in Georgia? if so, whereabouts?
I see we're both in Alpharetta. Curious, do you ever find good old school stuff local? At best I see old sports games.
Also, check out my recent finds in finders keepers and just think, hes leaving soon.

I hardly ever find anything locally, although I haven't really been searching lately. When I do find stuff, it's never anything that great - and goodwill is ALWAYS a disapointment here. I did score a pretty sweet World of Nintendo display cabinet from Craigslist last year for $40 bucks - that was my best find locally to date.
The one on old milton has nice employees and is clean but has nothing. Seen a fww sports titles from snes but thats it
Welcome to the site! It always sucks having to part with the collection. I know I had to do it once to pay rent a long time ago, and I still regret it. I sold off some pieces I've yet to find again, like a white Asian Version Hogan's Alley, a sealed Panic Restaurant and Fire N' Ice and a couple others.
The worst part was needing to sell quick and not having time to part it out. I got just over 1000 but could have gotten 3 times that parted out. I had plenty of stuff that would have gone for 50 each.

Half the fun is collecting it anyways - sucks buying the same thing twice though
