Least Favorite NES Megaman power

No Not that kind of poll

Comments

  • My vote was close between Charge Kick (It took me forever to figure out I had to slide to use it) and Power Stone which is so damned hard to hit anything with
  • It's hard for me to vote. There are so many I hate.
  • It's been Mega Man Madness lately! Me gusta. There's so many I never use because I hardly ever need them... so it's kind of hard for me to decide... I'll have to come back after I run through all of them again next week.
  • Beat sucks!

Isn't Beat the bird? I found him useful once or twice on ladders. Other than that, he's basically worthless. Surely there's a more useless weapon!

Haha, I thought the same thing, but there are still other weapons I don't like... Nope, I'm picking Top Spin. So bad.

At least that served a purpose though...it completely raped Wily...I voted Leaf Shield.  Such crap!

I know, it was funny going through the entire inventory and then figuring it out.

  • I always thought that the search snake was redonk.
  • But leaf shield is so good against the "Canhead" guys that spawn whilst your on moving platforms.

Yeah but the Top Spin just looks badass when you run around using it in the air. And what cooler way is there to kill an enemy than to drill yourself into them?
  • Another vote for Beat. Stupid bird...
  • I'll go with Leaf Shield, since it's pretty clearly broken (there was an iteration of the weapon in a later game that had the "correct" behavior)

  • Gotta go with Top Spin. I've never been able to use it on Shadow Man without suffering major crash damage, and on top of that, it always seems to run out of power long before he does. So frustrating!

I actually have no problem with Beat. While he was rendered pretty much useless in Mega Man 7, he was my weapon of choice against Dr. Wily in MM5.
  • Rush in general....hate that fckin dog....lulz

but seriously Leaf Shield is worthless in MM2

Top Spin is glitched in that if you hit an enemy that it doesn't kill, it will continue to drain weapon energy for as long as you hold down the button.  In the case of Shadowman you will need to just tap the button to start the spin, then release the button before you hit him so it only uses one weapon power.  This is also how you can use Top Spin to glitch-kill Gamma, because the same principle applies but you can continue to drain his energy along with your Top Spin energy because unlike Shadowman (or any of the robot masters) Gamma does not have any recovery time where he is invincible after being hit.  If any of the robot masters were the same way you would be able to kill them instantly with Top Spin as well.  I actually made a 'port' of Megaman 3 (and 1 and 2 for that matter ) using Game Maker to correct some glitches, and Top Spin was the biggest tweak I did in MM3.  It's a far more useful (without being overpowered) ability after the tweaking.

Anyway, back to the topic - I notice that the Hyper Bomb (Bombman's weapon from MM1) wasn't listed on here for some reason, but I think I'd still put Power Stone as less useful than that even.  Hyper Bomb's still pretty damn useless, though.

    I always just avoided them...
  • This Beat hate makes me so sad. I love the little guy. Sure, he's useless 99% of the time, but he's secretly a hoss. He just doesn't want to show it. But in all honesty, I genuinely think that there has to be a more useless power.

The leaf one is pretty useless, but I do use it on platforms people brought up just in case. You can usually just avoid them, though. It's nice to have a little bit of a safety net, though.
  • The Top Spin hate makes me sad. Not only does it kick Wily's ass, it also kicks the asses of the 3 Mega Man Clones you have to fight in Wily's castle. Plus it just looks cool.

My vote's for Power Stone. At least the Leaf Shield, broken as it is, has a good purpose: activate it and just stand there in Air Man's stage with those damn birds that drop the eggs and rack up the power ups.

It's also the best weapon for clearing out the hallways in Wily stage 2 of all those little drill enemies.  With anything else they take multiple hits, but Leaf Shield will clear a path right through them for you.

Kinda figured that was the case, but somehow I can never fight the compulsion to mash the button when using Top Spin. It's almost like second nature to me.

I've always used Search Snake on the clones. Chews 'em up pretty good.

Almost makes me want to do a favorite megaman shield poll....

    Leaf shield

    Skull barrier

    Star Crash

    Junk Shield

    Jewel satelite

    P Shield

    LOL

  • Top Spin because it is hard to use. However, it comes in handy on Dr. Wily.

I voted for the Super Arrow (it just seemed like it was unneccessary), but I'd have to go with the Charge Kick as next in line. The sad part about it is, it's difficult to damage an enemy with it, without getting damaged yourself. Kind of like the Top Spin in Mega Man 3, but it isn't even as strong as that on the boss it's "good" against.
