Removing the end piece of a Nintendo 64 controller.

You know that part of an N64 controller where you plug it into the machine? How do you take that off so I can put a different one on? I have a dead funtastic controller, and I figured I could fix it by swapping the part with a working gray controller that has a bad joystick. The stick on the funtastic one is real nice. The problem is the controller looks fine but the gray end doesn't match. Anyone know how to take that part off?

  • wire cutters, solder, and shrink tubing.

or open the contoller and removing the wiring from the base and swap the whole cable. may need to do some soldering still but It would look nicer.

No I just want to swap the plastic end piece. I don't want to replace the whole cord. Just the colored end-piece.

  • I'm pretty sure you can't remove that part without damaging it.

I can swap the entire cord for you, if you'd like. Just pay for shipping both ways.
