Has anyone purchased from Atariguide.com?

Title says it all. I recently decided to buy a 7800 power supply to see if my replacement deck works. I had seen this company both online and on ebay,  and they basically reproduce that obnoxious 7800 power supply with its 'special' plug. Anyhow, I decided to order from their website, back on May 6. I didnt notice until later that they say they dont ship until up to two weeks later. Not a huge deal, but I am eagerly anticipating this power supply. Anyway, I emailed them on the 17th to check status, and no response. Maybe I am jumping the gun here a bit, but I am irritated that a simple email   goes unresponded. Honestly, why would it take two weeks to mail out a power supply anyway? Do they make them one at a time?!

Just curious if anyone has dealt with them before. I dont want to get a bad taste in my mouth yet, but I am also wanting to pursue a 7800 CIB collection. It wouldn't make sense to start buying games without a system, would it? (OK, maybe thats not entirely true )

  • I made a semi-large purchase from them and they're reputable. Might just try emailing Jason (jason@atariguide.com) and ask him if he got the order.
  • Oh cool! Thanks Dain! I didn't want to jump to conclusions, and maybe they are just a small company with big demands. Perhaps I will start bringing home some of those CIB's anyways!
  • Well, I finally received my power supply on the 28th. I got a generic email saying they had mailed it out the day before (so three weeks after paying). I cant say I am impressed with their communication, or timely shipping, but their product is good. My Atari is back running! Now I just need 7800 controllers, as Genesis 3 or 6 button controllers do NOT work with all games. Only about half (or less) of the games I have work with them.

With that said, I thought I would pass along my experience. If you need one of those proprietary power supplies, AtariGuide sells a great product, just dont expect great communication or anticipate a quick arrival
