Conker's Bad Fur Day and the Rumble Pak...

I recently got one of the last Rare games I skipped on during the N64 era.  I'm wondering about something from anyone who also owns the game.

The game doesn't appear to be detecting my Rumble Pak, well, sort of.  The game select screen keeps asking me to insert the rumble pak, which suggests it isn't detecting it.  I played a bit of the game and couldn't seem to trigger any shaking, so maybe it isn't detecting it.

Now, I noticed my rumble pak (it is an offical one) is working just fine with other games (well, except Blast Corps and Killer Instinct Gold because apparently Rare didn't code any exceptions in those games for unexpected future addons).

The thing that makes me wonder about this is that in a multiplayer match I played real quick the rumble seemed to work just fine.  Can anyone give me some good information on rumble support in this game?

  • All I can tell ya is that i had the same issue. Best i could figure out is that the message to insert the rumble pak does not go away when you insert it. Also the game doesn't seem to have to much rumble to it. I only noticed it a little bit on some of the heavier enemies and boss's. I almost made this thread myself when i got the game.

I will be watching myself to see if anyone else has any better information.
  • Well good to know I'm not the only one with this issue*.

*Still not sure if this is an actual problem or weird coding with the game and poor rumble support.
  • The game doesn't use rumble a lot, no big deal. Just plug it in and it will work when it is programmed to.
  • It seems that way. What of the message on the file loading screen asking me to insert a rumble pak? Is that normal or what?
  • As 3Gen said, the Rumble Pak is used sparingly in Conker's Bad Fur Day. I can't really think of any instances it's used in, I never notice it that much.
  • Well it does appear to be working when the giant hay bail jumps about. The message is the main distraction, but I think it's just a general note at this point.
  • You spell it "Bale".
