Nintendo1up.com - Vote on your favorite NES games

Hey Everyone,

Check out my new website www.nintendo1up.com.  Your favorite NES games are pitted against each other and you choose which one you like better.  I have it right now where only the top 250 games are in the competition, because there are way too many games people have never played or haven't heard of.

I do have every single game on the website, though.  Check it out.

  • Welcome to NA... your site sounds interesting... Gonna go check it out now.

Edit: I've spent the past hour clicking NES boxes. FML.
  • I dig the site, but I think it would be beneficial to have at least all of the licensed games. The good games will end up at the top regardless, but it'd be interesting to see the popularity of some of the lesser known games.
  • Welcome aboard.
  • Welcome to NA Travis!
  • Welcome Travis! I was the dude on TG, hope you enjoy the site!
  • Hey I love the site! Just a suggestion (if you dont mind). When voting for games, it would be cool to see some sort of immediate feedback... such as rank number, up or down in rank, or some kind of percentage.

I added it to my bookmarks. Feel free to PM me if you ever want to discuss other ideas for the site. I would love to help.
  • Another suggestion: give us the option to skip certain questions. Everyone has a few titles they haven't played and it skews the results.

It's totally a blast voting on the games, though. Cool system.

EDIT: lol, I just got Super Mario Bros. 3 vs. Stadium Events.

DOUBLE EDIT: And then Stadium Events vs. World Class Track Meet! Superlol!
  • Facesmash for NES! Love it! Welcome!
  • Welcome to NA Travis! Get pitted!!
  • Hey everyone, I appreciate the feedback. Krunch - I did consider a skip button, but I was afraid that some games would never get votes. People can always just hit refresh if they wanted to.

themidnightsee - I did consider and am still considering adding the stats next to the game when they pop up. The only thing that turned me away from that is, I know if I see a game that has a very good record and I don't think it should have a good record, I will vote against it even if it is the better game out of the two just so that it's stats go down. I figure if people don't know the game's current record and rank, then they'd be more inclined just to pick the game they like best.

nechestriah - I did have all of the games in the competition, but the problem was every time a good game came up, it was always going against a crappy game. So, all of the good games had perfect records. I figured it would work itself out in the end, but then people started getting bored voting on all of the crappy games and stopped playing. That's why I changed it. I still have all of the games on my site if you click Games, though, which I'm sure you already knew.

Thank you all for your feedback, I will consider all ideas. JD thanks for showing me this website.

  • You're probably right that matches between less popular games will get much less votes. But since you are ranking the games on ratios and not number of votes, you only need a few people to vote on those matches to get them in the running.

Also, you're advertising to a site of NES collectors who are going to be familiar with less popular games so there will be some votes.

As for listing all the games, the popular games are going to win most of the time anyway, and the shitty games will lose most of the time anyway. It would be really interesting to see which games are the most hated as well.
  • Nice site, no suprise SMB3 is at the top.
  • Nice site, man. Glad to see Mega Man 3 is in the top 5 AND over Mega Man 2 (for now, at least).
  • That was fun
  • I'm glad you all like it and I will definitely will be keeping everyone's suggestions in mind.

Also, I want to know who has actually been voting down Super Mario 3.
