Selling from Canada

I'm considering selling a bunch of stuff online, NES games mostly, but I'm having a hard time figuring out how to manage it,

shipping from here seems to be so high as to make it impossible to sell stuff online.  I believe there are some people from Canada who sell things quite often on eBay, how do you manage to ship a cart or boxed games without the shipping costing more than the entire price + shipping that the next guy is selling for?

What is the best way to ship a cart or boxed game to the U.S (or elsewhere?)?

What sort of boxes work well for carts or boxes?

Is it better to do bundles of certain numbers of carts?

Thanks for any advice!

  • cart in a enveloppe or bubble mailer. boxed games in the smallest box possible OR in an enveloppe with the box folded (if possible). CanadaPost work by weight and not by size contrary to our southern friend (i believe), so that's why its so goddamn expensive.
  • Speak on behalf of my own experiences. You can usually ship loose carts for less then $7 just about anywhere ( Places Ive sent stuff to are Canada, Mexico, USA, and UK ).For some reason I find shipping within our own country to be more expensive sometimes. Things to consider are wieght, size, and if you plan on paying from tracking, insurance, or any other extra services. If the parcel will fit through a mail slot, and doesnt have much weight, then your going to be able to ship it for fairly cheap. I usually use water proof bubble mail envelopes, or recycle packaging I already have or make my self.
  • canada post has a shipping calculator. smaller is not always better. I saved $10 on a parcel by shipping it in a bigger box before.
