  • There's been a lot of talk about these lately, but only because Al and I have been trying to finish our little variant collections at the same time and we talk a lot image

In general these variants are worth the same whether 3-screw or 5-screw. There are some that would theoretically command a premium because of their relative scarcity, but so far (to my knowledge) there's been no auction that's closed for a scarce variant that was advertised as such, and got a higher amount. My guess is, if there was, and two people were fighting over it, there's a potential, but just not enough people are chasing these simultaneously to make any sort of real demand that would translate to $$$.

I think the general feeling is, either "I'll come across them eventually" or "I'll get lucky someday, but for now, saving up for other things."
  • And then there's a couple more publicized variants, such as 3-screw Gyromite, Donkey Kong, and DK Jr., as well as 5-screw Mega Man and a couple others... Because of the hype surrounding them, and the relatively small (single-digit) numbers of each being confirmed to exist, there is usually a small premium paid for them (though generally no more than $25-$30 each, but I suspect the next 5-screw Mega Man that pops up by itself, in decent shape, and well-advertised hits $40-$50).
