The fake SE...

So does anyone think that these are worth more than they were sold for, or is it basically on the same level as most other repros.

The NWC seems to be gaining a little in value over time, will these do the same, or even more so?

  • It was specifically said in the thread that these were only sold to members here, so I hope no one would try to resell it to anyone outside of this community. If you do sell it in the community, I would hope that you sold it for the same amount you paid.
  • They're a just a repro with a novel label...I don't see why they would ever go up significantly...

Of course, one never can tell.

Truth told, it's worth whatever someone will pay you for it, today.
  • I think it is a cool idea to keep them in the community, but regardless that will not happen. image

  • They'll probably stay in line with the PAL version prices. Either one would be just a placeholder for the NTSC version, or for someone who just wants a copy of the game to mark off their lists with no intentions of getting the NTSC version.
  • That would be cool. It would just make it an even cooler piece of NA history if it had a little increased cash value to back it up. image

  • I don't think these will ever catch up to even the PAL values. Why would they? Once a game has been dumped, anyone with a little knowhow can make as many repro copies as they want in any sort of style they want.

I think that with the NWC repros, the story is a little different (though not much). Bunnyboy has almost made those a legit release in and of themselves. By not using any donor materials, he has created almost a new game.
  • I would sell mine in a second if I could get more than I paid for it!
  • Then put it up Jared, I am 100% certain it will auction for at least the $27 you paid.

  • Yeah, there are a lot of people here on NA alone that missed out and want a copy. I'm sure you could get back what you paid for it, but why would you want to? It's a really cool piece, regardless of what it's worth.
  • If you guys can get even one more dollar than what you people have paid for it, then there is something seriously flawed with this hobby...
  • i guarantee it would sell for more.. for instance i said to my self dam $27 that cheap as f*** i would have paid double that for this.. thats just me but im sure alot of us who bought them probablly said that

and with so many people here wanting them im sure it would sell for more than $27 + shipping.

I have plenty of fellow board members on the wait list that would be happy to take it off your hands if your unhappy with what you received?   They won't be getting one unless a previously made deal falls through, so I am sure one of them would be willing to take the cart off your hands.  PM me if you want their info. I made these carts as a funny April Fool's joke and to be used as placeholders for fellow board members that can't afford to spend $1000+ on a real cart.  I don't really see prices for these going too high as anyone who knows how to desolder/solder can make one since this game doesn't require rewiring.
  • I say one of you puts one on ebay as an experiment, and we start a pool for how much it goes for. I would bet it goes for around $100. Before you say I should put one up, I missed the boat and do not have one.

No, no, I am very happy with my Stadium Events.  I was simply saying everything has its price.

  • I know a certain member who ordered 2, yet I don't see a reason to buy 2, only to sell one soon enough and make some money as I'm sure he surely will. I don't agree with that since other members didn't get a chance to get one.
  • it's all about supply and demand people ... honestly it would not be hard to obtain $45 for this cart...and yes it probably will bring the value of PAL SE down some, but not too much as the PAL release is still a legit release....legitamacy does help out
  • WTF?!? How does a repro of a production game have any bearing whatsoever on the value of legitimate releases of said game? This is getting silly... maybe portnoyd is right after all... my head aspode as well...

I'm gonna flood the market with homemade Gold NWC's image image image
  • Well...it's not a conceptual thing, it's real supply and demand.

For instance, over the past 3 months I've been watching PAL SE prices fall and was seriously considering putting out a few bucks for one when the price felt good.

Now I'm not, because I have a nice, cheap, placeholder repro. Neither of them are "real" to me. And I don't want the NTSC because it's too expensive for me.

Point being, I'm one less person demanding the Pal version that was seriously considering putting bucks up for it.
  • ^ Yeah, I understand that, it just doesn't make any sense to me whatsoever... I mean, why not get a repro of every game that goes for more than the cost of making a repro then? ...or just load the ROM onto bunnyboy's flashcart thing? That would make more sense to me than *pretending* that you officially have a collection copy of a game that you actually don't.

If you're a collector going for an NTSC set, you NEED a real SE, if you're a gamer, you don't since WCTM is common as dirt... that's all I'm trying to say. Putting a repro in your set and calling it complete makes as much sense to me as hiding Easter eggs on yourself the night before the big hunt (unless you're senile - then that could be fun!)

Anyway, yeah, just saying it makes NO sense to me AT ALL from a gamers OR a collectors standpoint, but I do understand your supply/demand logic image
  • My personal NTSC collection was already complete, but some people still don't agree with why I don't want SE, Myriad and the Panesians...or boxes and manuals for that matter. I'm cool with having done my own thing image This doesn't make my set "more complete" and there's no pretending, it just goes with my other repros (Al's, Brian's and some others from GameReproductions) into a neat little subset. If I'd have gotten a Pal one, it would go in with my Pal-Exclusive collection. There's really no "right place" for either in my collection but that's kind of why I like it. There's a lot of cool unique things to collect in the NES library, and this is just the latest.
  • I hate that the discussion of "value" and "worth" even has to be brought into the subject of repros. Over time, people who would have brought a lot of joy to others that couldn't afford the high end games will simply decide that it's too much of a hassle dealing with the few greedy types that try to profit from their work. That's really sad.

I bought one of Nick's SE repros because it had a great story to go along with it, and I feel like it's a tiny piece of NA's history. I certainly didn't buy it so that I could sell it down the line. Nick obviously could make a ton more money making more copies of his repro, and he isn't. Why should anyone else make a dime from them?
  • i bought the $25 (or however much it cost) repro SE to turn around immediately and sell it on ebay... here is the link: www(dot)thoseofyouwhoboughtthiscarttosellitandmakeaprofitarecrazyitwasacoolideaandanawesomeaprilfoolsdayhoaxandcertainlypartofNAhistorythatIamproudtoownafakeSEcart!!!(dot)com
  • link doesn't work
  • please bid high and often on the above auction... the actual value of the game is whatever someone is willing to pay for it... can you turn around right now and sell it for $60 and double your money? yes... but what the hell is a $30 profit going to do for you in the long run??? there is less than 50 of this game in the WORLD!!! if you own a copy, you are one of the lucky members of a community of fellow nintendo lovers and you will cherish the game AND the april fools day hoax that started it!!! however, if extenuating circumstances come up where you are in dire need of money and you have to sell all of your games to get some cash, then i can certainly see where selling this for a little bit of cash would be cool... but please sell it to a fellow NA member!!! keep the community going strong!!! NA rocks!!! by the way, arseface, i got more crap since last we spoke (yesterday) if you are interested in anything! haha!
  • dan, your "complete set" is NOT complete unless you have 8-bit nudity!!! some of the funniest stuff for the NES (the broken english is second to none!!!). however, none of the 3 panesians top the terrible terrible terrible "beat em and eat em" for the atari... 2 bits of graphics that show a man with genitals larger than his body, standing on the top of a building, shooting YELLOW globs of something out of his king kong sized member at funny looking naked women with DDDDD sized ()()s, running around on the ground with their mouths open, ready to catch these yellow globs... yeaaaaaaaaaa, now if that doesn't turn you on, i have no idea how to turn a person on! when i have a date, i say "let's go play some beat em and eat em... that will certainly get us all hot and bothered!!!" hahahahah, okay, my long posts in this thread are over... i need some sleep! night, ya'll!
  • wow...

some people's ideas are really f'd. i'd say if one of these comes up on ebay everyone should flag the shit out of it.
  • there is no reason that even one of these carts chould be sold for a profit.. if you dont want it pass it on to another member here.
  • As I said in the other thread. Mine will never be available for resale. I would GIVE it away before I sold it.
  • Yeah, for me, I wouldn't be willing to pay too much more than the $27 that was paid initially for the repro carts... but I would definitely be willing to buy it off of anyone who didn't really want it. It would be my own personal Stadium Events for my collection as I would never be willing to pay the going price for an actual NTSC copy of the cart. So, if someone out there doesn't want their copy, do let me know as I would gladly take it off of their, your, hands.
